You can win with an average coach with a great quarterback (Aikman and Switzer) or an average QB with a great coach (Parcells + anyone), but you have to be solid in one of those areas. I'm not sold on Trent Edwards being good enough to carry Dick Jauron.

I agree that coaching is often downplayed in the NFL, the one sport where it actually does matter.
The whole Dallas team was still loaded when Switzer came over so it really wasn't JUST Aikman. Hell Romeo Crennel could have won the SB with the team Dallas was fielding. I miss Jimmy coaching Dallas ;(. You can't just say Parcells + anyone he brought Vinny and that ended bad 6-10 and tied for last in the East.

It's a little weird that after a quiet off-season and pre-season, the only Cowboy fans around are Woodchuck, Zeke, and Levious, meanwhile Giants-Nation is growing.
What is this?

I've got the same problem in two leagues, ones PPR one isn't. Start in Flex DeSean Jackson vs NO with Kolb as his QB or Earl Bennet vs Pitt with Cutler as his QB?

I have other options in both leagues, Kevin Walter (injured & Vs Titans), McCoy, Donald Brown and Felix Jones but none are in a fantasy point producer role yet. Look over my teams now, its funny how I gamble on the same bench guys with each team, but have all different starters.

DeSean Jackson. Kolb will inevitably throw and Jackson will be there to catch it. For some reason I think Bennett will get more catches but much less of a chance at the TD. Besides, DJ gets some return duties. Bennett may be worth the gamble in PPR but it depends how much value the PPR is...half point probably doesn't cut it.

Now here's a similar question for a non-PPR league: Would you start Devin Hester (vs. PIT) or Torry Holt (vs. ARI)?

I'm half tempted to start Mccoy this week.. I just have this gut feeling that all this qb craziness will make us use the running game more.

Can't wait for yet another epic battle between the giants and the Boys. Should be a damn good game with Dallas of course coming out on top :D

Also I have 4 receivers...

Dwyane Bowe, @ Oakland
Steve Smith (Giants), @ Dallas
Eddie Royal, Cleveland
Michael Clayton, @ Buffalo

Though Bowe is facing Oakland and maybe Nmadi, He may have Cassel back + he should get a lot of balls thrown his way as the #1.
Eddie Royal is facing Cleveland. Enough said..
Steve Smith is emerging as Eli's fave target + Nicks is out.
Michael Clayton is now the #1 receiver since Antonio Bryant looks to be OUT (knee injury)

Out of the 4 who would you start if you had 2 spots?

TB over Buff? srsly?

Royal and Clayton.
Over Bowe? I mean you'd think he'd get a TD pass...

I'm more surprised he's picking a west coast team to win an east coast road game. 10am kickoffs suck!
I want the drama (EMBATTLED NFC CHAMPS WIN! lol), and regarding Buffalo I can't have faith in Trent Edwards... he'll throw it away.

For what it's worth, Bowe won't be facing Nnamdi exclusively. Raiders are stupid and they don't like to shadow him.

That said, Chris Johnson is a pretty cool guy and he doesn't afraid of anything.

Well it's a tough call for me between Bowe and Clayton. Clayton will be the goto guy for TB and I think he'll get at least 1 TD. Bowe is a toss up due to possibly facing Nnamdi. You won't go wrong with either one, but I'd go with Clayton personally I think he is going to have a decent Sunday.

Smith should be good this week, but I'm sure Dallas will put Newman on him, though if not, he should produce as usual. Hixon and Manningham may be bigger bets for the high yardage and/or TD play.

Smith vs. Dallas last year was good... REALLY GOOD. 14 catches, 264 yards and a TD. The TD thing is a concern, true. But I can see Smith still getting 70 yards and he's Eli's #1 right now.

Thinking about it I really think this game is going to be a score fest. Giants Secondary is a little beat up and Dallas doesn't have much of a secondary except for Newman honestly. I can see each team having 30+ with ease.

Whelp, I got eliminated from the eliminator thanks to the Broncos fluke win. Lot of games I can see goin' either way. Who was the person last seasons that would keep track of all the stats for people's picks in the thread?

NO @ PHI Drew Brees won't have 200 yards.
:lol This just made me notice something. Brees has thrown for 200+ yards for 20 consecutive games. Since the beginning of 2007 he has only thrown for under 200 yards twice.

In his entire tenure in New Orleans its only happened 7 times, 3 of which you have to take out because we were up by multiple touchdowns and we either pulled Brees out of the game early, or by the end of the 3rd or fourth quarter we were just running the ball to end the game.

Which situation is Pittsburgh? Average coach and great qb or great coach and average qb? Or great coach and great qb (the ideal situation)?

And speaking of Singletary it has been a long time since we linked to his now famous "I want winners" speech.

Steelers under Cowher had mediocre QB and great coaching. With Epps, they have a mediocre QB and decent coaching but Epps commands more respect because he shot and killed Tupac.

Great QB and great doctor.
Are you implying that there is not something entirely natural about Harrison's WWE like frame?

How dare you insult the reigning defensive player of the year like that!

Mediocre is still better then that gimp the Pats put behind center.

Nothing's a sure bet in the NFL. Without Poz in the middle, the LB group is extremely undersized, and TB OL can maul you up front. It'll be a hard fought game.

Don't worry, at least Tampa doesn't like to run even when their backs are getting 10 yards a carry.

After last week Buffalo could use a game handed to them. Got my fingers crossed on that haha

Could someone help me out. I've been racking my brain for the past hour over this question: Should I start Romo (v Giants) or Farve (v Lions). Its a standard ESPN fantasy league and I am trying to maximize my production because I face a tough opponent.

I probably shouldn't even admit this, but I was making an obscure "joke" comparing the similarities between between Tomlin and Omar Epps, of House fame. I apologize for wasting everyone's time.

Tough question, but I'd go with Romo since Favre sucks a dick

Is this normal gunslinger hate or should i really start Romo? Its the Lions though, maybe he'll toss a couple to Berrian, percy, or AP.

Start Favre against the Lions. Did you not watch the Giants defense last week?

Whoever said week 1 was the hardest week to pick was full of shit. I feel like i'm taking a test here.

Same here. A lot of tough games to call.

Anyone here who may have done the same as me and picked Tampa over Buffalo (The Frankman) might want to change that. I picked them because it was a decent matchup for the Bucs and without this win the Bucs are staring 0-5 in the face. But now both Antonio Bryant and Jeff Faine are out. With Faine out the Bucs go from one of the 5 best centers in football to one of the 5 worst in Mahan.

Lions game isn't blacked out, hurray!

And now I'm worrying over my fantasy defense. Chicago? But I have Big Ben as my quarterback, nothing good can come of that! Atlanta? I've been staring at them allll week, indecisively.

Kolb is going to shock the world and lead the Eagles to victory, that or he blows his final chance in Philly with the QB's coming out in the draft this yr and Garcia gets the halftime nod.

Regardless of what happens I'll just be glad to be able to have final judgement on him.

I have a big group of WR's and I can't decide who to put in, suggestions?
