For me remakes and sequels are for games that had potential for something greater but the limitations of the time didn't allowed.
That being said :
Blast Corps and destructive enviroment Body Harvest because it tryed to be GTA before GTA Jurassic Park Trespasser because it tryed physics stuff before pcs could run it
Also, games that would benefit greatly from new "genres" are :
Jet Force Gemini 2 cover based shooter as a family friendly Gears of War Pocket Fighter 2 as a Capcom's Smash Bros party fighter

1) Planescape Torment. Just a graphical/QoL update and good combat is all I ask. I've played little of it, but what I have played of it is amazing.
2) System Shock 1... oh, wait. System Shock 2, then- a graphical update and
a full-fledged Rickenbacker
would be amazing.
3) Persona 2. I'm playing Innocent Sin right now, and the dated and slow combat really sucks. But more importantly, I wish the presentation could be in a more up-to-date form. Small models and simple environments really don't do many of the scenes justice.

There's so many old games I love and a sequel for them would be beyond the moon. In no particular order:
Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow
What
It was a 3rd person action shooter that mixed stealth, spying, shooting, exploration and objective based missions that sometimes included "parameters" that should not be broken otherwise it's game over.
Why
Whilst I think the PSX games were the best ones, this series did shooting and did it well, on top of really nice funky techno tracks to go along with it. The protagonist, Gabriel Logan and his sidekick Lian Xing are the retro versions of Uncharted's Nathan Drake and Elena. The first PS2 game, Omega Strain, did a cool concept that let you made your own character who is now an agent working under The Agency and Gabe Logan. It still felt like a Syphon Filter game despite being released unfinished. It would be awesome to see the return of this series but this time as Lian Xing as the main character since
Gabe Logan was killed off during the latest game
. Bring back the techno music, the mix of stealth and action, and expand upon Lian's backstory and it would be a dream.
Beatdown: Fists of Vengeance
What
Imo, a very Very VERY VERYVERY underrated beat 'em up and is one of my favourite games of all time despite getting average reviews on release. You pick one of 5 gang member characters, each with their own skills and stats and roam around an urban gangster city beating bad guys up to advance the story. You could do side quests, unlock dozens and dozens of buddies as party members and choose to kill, rob, interrogate or simply let go people you Beatdown after every fight. But the best part of the game? You can fully customise each character, wear any clothing even if it''s a male wearing a bra and panties, right down to the face shape, eye colour, accessories, tops, bottoms... you name it. For a 2005 beat 'em up game this is fucking impressive.
Why
This game needs a modern day revival so bad. As for all the reasons explained above, the concept of doing side quests, customising your character, making choices, exploring a city and lots of goodies to unlock it would be a great game. Whether it sells well is another thing altogether. This game was doing stuff no other video game was doing for its time.
Fear Effect
What
Yes, I know, there is a fan-made adaption in the works via the Square Enix Collective but it just isn't a Fear Effect game imo. FE was a series of a couple of games that used the Resident Evil fixed cameras and tank controls, but the games were known to be notoriously difficult and unforgiving, and there is some fan service too that other games of the time didn't dare step in to.
Why
Fear Effect Inferno looked awesome and a revival of that version of the game is what I want. A modern day FE bringing back the challenging puzzles, unforgiving nature and the campy style would fit nicely in between all the military dudebro shooters we see nowadays. There just aren't many games like FE made anymore and the development studio behind the games were also one of my favourite studios; their execution may not have been spick and span perfect, but the concepts they put in their games were always fascinating.
Haunting Ground
What
Haunting Ground is a spin-off to the Clock Tower games made side-by-side with Resident Evil 4 and the above mentioned Beatdown: Fists of Vengeance. You play as Fiona, who is captured and brought into a European-styled castle where you must look for a way out classic survival horror style. The game has many Italian Giallo themes, which I love to fucking bits, and plays like a mix of the previous Clock Tower games and Resident Evil.
Why
There just aren't horror games like this anymore. The underlying erotic nature combined with the architecture of the castle, the kinds of puzzles you solve and the classic survival horror gameplay was genius I think. Controlling Hewie, the dog, could be an awesome co-op feature for modern day and I would love to see a sequel to this or a re-imagining.
(Forbidden) Siren
What
From the director and writer of Silent Hill 1, Siren was a survival horror series that had you explore an old Japanese village on a remote island with zombies out to get you. You played as multiple characters across a timeline to see their perspectives on who they are, what they are doing on the island and whether they escape or not.
Why
The atmosphere, tension, enemy design, the multiple characters, brutal difficulty and vague nature of progression were great imo. Yeah, the games didn't have good voice acting, the controls were clunky, but I think that actually added to the creepiness and realistic factor of the games. I enjoyed Siren: Blood Curse for what it is, but a sequel that would be in development for a couple of years, given a budget and bringing back the same people who made them would be great exposure for the modern horror market.
Deathtrap Dungeon
What
A rather obscure game, it is an adaption of the Fighting Fantasy 'Deathtrap Dungeon' book. It didn't do well and was frequently compared to Tomb Raider. It had you pick one of two protagonists as you played through levels inside a large, overall dungeon and the game gets progressively harder the deeper in you go.
Why
Now, there's just something about this game... the graphics, the music, the audio design, the creature and character design, the dungeon design... something about this game that made me instant love it. I can't quite put my finger on it, and it isn't like this is a unique game, but there's just something enjoyable about the classic hack and slash monsters, avoid traps and perform platforming to open up more and secret areas. Also, it's weird, the PS1 + PC versions are actually drastically different. A sequel, combining the best of both worlds, would be so damn cool.
