So, hot on the heels of this thread, I was about to post something where I thought it was the same person, but in reality, it wasn't.

Face it, there's a lot of actors out there who look the same and you could have SWORN that person A was the same as person B, only to find out they just look very similar, and you've no doubt lost some stupid bet with your friend / girlfriend / family member because you were so sure that person was who you thought it was.

The purpose of this thread is to clear up commonalities between different actors, so that people don't lose frivolous bets in the future.

I'll start things off:

I thought that the guy who plays Jason Stackhouse (real name: Ryan Kwanten) on True Blood:
ryan-kwanten-as-jason-stackhouse.jpg

was the same guy who played "Brian", the Chotchkie's waiter from Office Space (real name: Todd Duffey):

I thought the new kid in Avatar was Shane Botwin (Weeds) with a shaved head.

When I found out it wasn't him I had a WTF moment. Avatar kid is some nobody, first time actor who is good at martial arts.

So this is the "OMG isn't that? Nope. Mindblowing not-the-same thread" thread

My contribution is that Dom Deloise looked a lot like that one chef. I can't remember his name but I'm sure someone here knows what I'm talking about. It all made lots of sense to me that Mr. Deloise had his own cooking show when I was a kid.

The other thread has degenerated into posting the same thing over and over, and people posting pictures of actors' well known roles as if it's mindblowing that christopher lloyd was both a klingon and doc brown.

I figured this thread would be a welcome change from that, because as has already been posted, people get mistaken for others all the time, and it's somewhat comical to see who people thought were whom.

I was convinced he was the same one as the writer on Golden Girls...

For some reason I used to constantly mix up Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon, and Leonardo Dicaprio. Don't ask me how. When The Departed came out I was screwed.

:lol I'm glad I'm not the only one. I had a lot of trouble following some parts of that one and felt like a complete idiot.

Henry Lennix
Lol what? Someone thought that? Cliff Curtis is a Kiwi of Maori descent. I had to look it up after seeing him play a Latino in Training Day, where that pic is from, because he looks barely Latino, but that nondescript, generic "brown dude" ethnic.

Henry Lennix? He just looks like a light-skinned black dude.

Well I think it's clever. Not Steven Colbert clever of course but close. :D

Trying to explain the movie to someone was just so much more troublesome. Feel's good to know I am not alone.

UHF's R.J. Fletcher

is not the prosecutor from My Cousin Vinny

Though that's much more obvious seeing them side by side than it was in my head.

Uhhh, while there are a lot of dudes in all those movies, ID4's President is Spaceballs's Lone Starr.

Someone posted various Cliff Curtis roles and then someone replied something like "He also played the asshole general in the two Matrix sequels." Which was either a bad attempt at a joke or someone who hadn't seen the Matrix sequels in awhile.

Jill Flint (on the new show Royal Pains)

Jennifer Morrison (from House)

Even though they sound the same (and if you watch Royal Pains) sometimes really, really look the same.

Is either of them the Daily Planet chief from the Superman TV show in the 90s?

Yes, Lane Smith was in My Cousin Vinny. Also the main rival coach in Mighty Ducks, the dad in Son in Law, and some role in V (1984 series) that I'm forgetting. He passed away a few years ago.

For some reason I was convinced that the main character in Match Point was played by Jude Law (based on this picture alone)

In the end credits, they acknowledge John Jay Smith.

Your mind has just been blown, GAF.

This thread sucks... trolling was necessary

Holy shit.

I always thought Rufus Sewell and Joaquin Phoenix was the same guy. I was always trying to convince my friends that the guy from Dark City plays the emperor in The Gladiator.
