One account. All of Google. (Googles latest annoyance)

Well, I'll be damned. Cant believe so many would like feature like this as the Google pages stores all your screen names with no privacy. Moreover I just don't trust them not to have some marketing tricks that links the accounts.

And I'm still puzzled why today is the first time I have encountered this when apparently it has been around for a long time.

So your issue is essentially the distrust re: whether the accounts will be linked, because in your situation, linking them would be bad. Is that right?

And if that's your concern, why wouldn't you simply *not* use that functionality and continue simply logging out of one account and then into the other? How does this *option* hurt you or bother you? Makes no sense.

Yes!! How dare they make it convenient to allow users to switch between different account and make it possible to have two gmail accounts in two separate tabs simultaneously logged on without giving us the option to not have two gmail accounts in two separate tabs simultaneously logged in.

May be convenient to you and not to someone else for whatever reason. Should have an option to return it to the way you find it more comfortable. No need for the sarcasm.

I guess I'm a little confused about what your privacy concern is? Unless you have a secret email account that you don't want others knowing about, but if that's the case, why not just sign out of your account entirely if you are accessing it from a non-private machine?

If people have the opportunity to find your secret account by scrolling through you account selections on your computer/mobile device, you probably aren't that concerned about privacy if you are leaving your account signed in on a non-private device...

Not everything can realistically remain optional—most companies like this want reasonably tight parity between one user's experience and another.

No sir I don't like it.

Also fuck off with the Youtube shit, I WANT TO USE YOUTUBE WITH MY YOUTUBE ACCOUNT NOT MY REAL NAME

Don't use their fucking services then. Nobody is forcing you to and there are always alternatives.

Problem is I love Gmail and it would be a bigger pain to leave. All this YouTube nonsense is what bothers me. My post was half joking anyway, calm down.

I just encountered it a few days ago as well.

It just seems like another con into getting you to sign up for a shitty google+ account. Google is doing everything it can into tricking users into signing up or using their real name on youtube.
This post doesn't make sense either. It's not asking you to create a new account - it's saying, "Hey, do you already have multiple Google accounts? If so, you can use this option to be signed into both at the same time (if you want to)."

If you don't want to do this, you don't have to. If you don't have multiple accounts, this isn't trying to get you to sign up for another one.

Your interpretation of this as a ploy to get you to sign up for a Google+ account needs to be backed up by facts.

Google threads are a great opportunity to disparage Google+ and YouTube 'real name' nag.

I feel like he's trying to say they're hoping people will slip and misclick or something, and then find themselves with a Google+ account under their real name by accident. Which is kinda goofy, because the nags and stuff are seemingly meant to avoid 'tricking' people.

Could you elaborate on why, exactly, you hate it? Everyone thus far that has disliked it in this thread has been misinformed or confused, including the OP.

If there is a way to get YouTube to stop asking me to link my accounts and use my real name, I would be a happy camper.

This post makes no sense. Why do you think that this feature isn't altogether optional??

I'm not talking about this specifically. I'm just saying, altogether, if whatever website pushes out a new feature and you don't like it, they should give you the option to turn it off. Most of the time, they'll give you the option to turn it off down the line. Should be available when this new feature is launched as well. That's all I'm saying.

I thought this was going to be about their new gmail login page and how it lists all the accounts you have signed in before.

Because it was new for me too, it appeared yesterday for the first time for me.

Most people would probably turn near everything off in that scenario, though, to keep the site in a more familiar state. It'd be really hard to roll out new features, and companies would have to dedicate a lot more resources to deprecated stuff.

I understand. I just don't like change, mainly coming off of Twitter's new update with them showing half pictures. If I want to see the picture, I'll click the link to show it. If not, I won't. I don't want it showing up automatically. What if it was naughty.... not like I'd follow anyone like that... ha ha....

Youtube's nagging is annoying and it's crappy that you can't fully eliminate the requests.

However, that's *different* than the topic of this thread, which is the option of signing into multiple accounts at the same time. People who never use this option will still get nagged by Youtube the way you're describing.

Sorry for harping. Just wanting clarity.

I dont get it

Google's one account, all google thing is about have an account have access to a all of Google's products

Yet the OP is complaining about multiple user sign in

I thought it was all part of the same deal. My bad.

I think I figured out why I look at this and go "wtf".

I just logged out of gmail and logged back in, and it listed my account. So if I had multiple accounts I could see this being useful. However I have my browser always clearing cookies when I log off. So my normal usage I usually stay logged in for the day and then close my browser when I am done. When I visit gmail with cleared cookies, I see this giant ad for like Google+ features (it seems) and this makes no sense compared to the clean ordinary gmail login screen that I am used to.

If you don't like the option, don't use it.

If you dont trust your email provider, use another one. Outlook.com

This is old as hell.

It appeared to me the other day and I fucking hate it, because the 'accounts' google thinks I have log into the wrong one afterwards. So no thanks, and I'll just keep using lastpass's login feature instead of this system. It is also not more convenient in any way or form.

It's obnoxious to me, since it's great in theory...but it seems like they are never going to integrate support for multiple logins into Drive (which I use extensively for spreadsheets).

My "solution" at this point is that I use Chrome for my personal account and Firefox for my work account.
