The best part about these threads, like Che pointed out, is that it proves that on some level, Ziff Davis Media is doing something right. The amount of discussion and chatter their shows generate on a handful of forums on the Internet nearly justifies its "push personalities" approach.
Like I've said before, when people rail on Garnett for being semi-nonsensical, in most cases it's simply because he's stoking the fires for discussion on the show and inevitably discussions on the Internet that will ensue. Shane, similarly, does exactly the same thing with his support of Sony, sure he has preferences, just like everyone does -- but those preferences in both Shane and Garnett's cases are likely exaggerated for public consumption to drive message board discussions, water cooler chatter, and most importantly downloads.
The more downloads a show gets, the more likely advertisers are to support the shows, et cetera. Sorry to lift some of the veil here, but it's a bit excessive -- I joke about ShaneWatch semi-regularly, and do think he has a tendency of getting pulled in by hype and then semi-inventing megatons that he can later back slowly away from, but ultimately, 1UP Yours is simply about being entertaining. Think of it like Howard Stern, instead of the News Hour with Jim Lehrer.
Sometimes the fourth wall needs to just be pulled down.
