ONM: "Zelda Wii: Expect Surprises At E3 2010"

Yeah, so terrible

Wow, I've only mentioned like a thousand times that I think Wind Waker has excellent graphics. My argument is that the designs are god awful.

Graphics GOOD.
Art direction BAD.

That's all I'm saying.

And EmCee is off on this tangent that I won't bother to deal with :lol

I'd rather have good art direction Link than "expressive just because of the angle that line for a mouth is" Link.
OK, after reading all your trailing posts, you dont know what the hell you are talking about.:lol :lol

I know quite well what I'm talking about. Some of my posts are in harmless jest, however, I stand by my opinion that the art direction is bad. It's a beautiful looking game otherwise.

Tingle will have actual magical powers this time, turning into various animals and objects, he will also replace Epona as the main mode of transportation.

Ride on Tingona!

Surprise

Are you serious? does he look expressive to you?

Like someone said theres no way its coming next year but i cant wait to see a teaser and hear about the surprises.

Twilight princess was awesome, way better than Wind Waker in every way in my opinion.

I'm confused as to what you're referring to brandon, are you referring to character design or overall design of the world in WW?

I actually think a lot of the environments look great. I just think the character designs, this includes NPC's (which are always the worst looking thing in a Zelda game no matter the visual style) is really, really bad. I was just saying that I wouldn't mind another cel-shaded Zelda as long as some of the design work was improved. I'm not a huge fan of the overall art direction, no. But I think the character designs is the worst offender.

He does. It called the blank look :lol

It doesnt look angry. And neither does this:

I think that the Wind Waker is more expressive, the cellshading and animation gives it more range of facial expressions. But I don't believe that a realistic Zelda(in point Twilight Princess) isnt very expressive either. Besides, you're not supposed to be spending all of your time looking at Link and Zelda and Midna and their bodies and all of that. You should be exploring Hyrule and hunting through dungeons

I would like to have a top down Zelda, like Link to the Past. Not cell shaded, but hand drawn.

Too much to ask?
While that would be cool, I dont think we have waited 4+ years for a 2dish console zelda.

How did Four Swords Adventures sell? It's not the same thing, but still.

In that case I agree then. I think the character designs were tremendously improved from WW to TP. The Ruto and Ganondorf designs from WW were great, but they were the only designs that really impressed me. Whereas in TP all the designs for the major pro/antagonists (i.e. Zelda, Link, Midna, Ganondorf, Zant) were absolutely fantastic, I loved them. I hope whoever did those designs is in charge of doing them again for the next game.

My wishlist

Voice Acting - obvi not for link
Realistic Graphics
Return of the beam sword - pew pew
Return of the pegasus boots
Bring back magic
classic controller support
no fetch quests for goods...make them usful
no backtracking (no mirror worlds for fuks sake! its old)
Princess does not get kidnapped, getting old...
Ganon is gone for now, bring on someone more evil
50+ hours.

is this too much to ask for?! i think im being reasonable.

asking classic controller support in a game we already know will heavily use MP (and maybe even will be MP exlusive)?

for voice acting: i'd like if they develope a proper "hyrulean language".

Yay! No better way to start your day then a good bit of Zelda news! Too bad the Mag is so fare from release. >_>

And Im calling it now, Zelda winter 2010, released as a Lunch title for Wii HD/+/2!

Thats a prefect way to get SMG2, Other M and LoZ out the same year . . . release one early in the year, release one in the Summer and release the biggest one (we gotz Mario, SSB and MP already, now everyone is looking forward to LoZ) made for Wii HD to help push the new Hardware for Winter 2010.

BELIEVE!

Not optimistic. Majora's Mask was the earliest a LOZ has been released after an reveal(Spaceworld 1999 to Winter 2000). For reference, Ocarina of Time(Spaceworld 1995 to Winter 1998), The Wind Waker(E3 2001 to March 2003), and Twilight Princess(E3 2004 to Winter 2006). A minimum of 1 year before release

Nintendo does things differently now. At E3 the last 3 years they have unveiled their big holiday titles at E3. I would not be at all surprised if Zelda was holiday 2010.

If they can get it to run and look as awesome as the Mario Galaxy engine allowed Mario to look then I will be impressed. I still don't think there is another game on the Wii that looks as good as Mario Galaxy and it's been out for over a year.

Edit* Metroid Prime 3 looked amazing as well. So I take that back. Besides those two games though nothing comes close.

Surprises (surprises)
Disguise (disguises)
and pies of (and pies of)
ALL SIZES!
AWREAH!

Come on in, come to the place where fun never ends. Come on in, it's time to party with Reggie and Friends! Reggie and friends!

You're crazy if you think the new Zelda will be released any time before 2011. The Wii will be around for another two years and a new Zelda game would provide the perfect send-off for the machine. An excellent game to cap off an excellent system.

Super Mario Galaxy managed to rise above all other Mario games for me. If they can do the same thing with this game for the Zelda series I will die a very happy man.

The problem is Super Mario Galaxy 2 and an empty 2011

"This is not the Zelda I grew up with!"
"Twilight Princess is the best Zelda EVER!"
"Miyamoto is senile and is destroying gaming!"
etc

"This game changed the formula to please casual gamers. Nintendo has forgotten about their core fanbase!"

"Motion Controls suck!"

"This isn't the flawless masterpiece Twilight Princess was!"

"This game lacks the soul all the other games have."

Seriously Zelda fans bitch after every new Zelda than the Zelda previous to that one is automatically the greatest thing since slight bread. I still chuckle seeing so much love for Windwaker despite no more than a few years ago it was the most hated (well deserved).

Well first off..its still 2009..a bit early to worry about 2011. Second, from Nintendo's own words I think Galaxy is almost done and will be released early next year. Of course, if Galaxy isn't here by next summer then yes I agree with you.

I want it in first-person :D
Probably will happen, Miyamoto express interest in a fps approach, besides the confirmation of M+. I don't want it fps tbh. I want it keep the same alttp formula.

Okay :D

Announcement of an announcement, meh.

edit: damn beautiful shots of WW and TP itt. Console Zeldas have never disappointed me. I don't think Aonuma will start with this one. :D

Methinks Vitality Sensor will be the holiday 2010 event. Zelda in 2011. No way we get both SMG2 and Zelda Wii in the same year. Don't talk crazy.

this time, Zelda has to save Link!

I want this, just not like the CDi game where it happened.

Gonna be cautiously optimistic about this.

Great fanbase though, you guys are wonderful as usual.:lol

So, has anyone suggested actual structural changes in this thread yet, or is everyone still ranting about art styles, graphics, and control schemes?

(My money's on collecting four orbs before the plot twist.)

Character design is a deliberated option, if you want it or not is a subjetive matter, art direction has nothing to do with design of choice, if they keep everything coeherent with the whole aesthetic, Wind Waker character desing was an unorthodox choice, and this is great part why they got high praise, it's the first step towards to great art direction, keep things the most far from standart designs.
