Well you'll need break the fundaments of the Zelda scheme to include people who isn't familiar with the serie. Aside that, nothing really.NintendosBooger said:What would be wrong with that?

I still dont think that you know what good or bad art direction is...its not about likes or dislikes...brandonh83 said:I know quite well what I'm talking about. Some of my posts are in harmless jest, however, I stand by my opinion that the art direction is bad. It's a beautiful looking game otherwise.
Speak for yourself, bud. The artstyle was nothing amazing...just different. All these people praising how much emotion Link had are grasping. Link has no emotion because all he does is grunt, he had as much expression in Zelda II as he does now. In fact if anything, Majora's Mask was FAR more emotional than Wind Waker. The theme of the game was expressed to perfection with the artstyle.rhino4evr said:I can't believe people are STILL bitching about Wind Waker's art style. I thought all this crap went away when everyone played it and loved it. If you are going to bitch about Wind Waker bitch about the Triforce Hunt, and the low level of dungeons.
WW was as close to a living cartoon a game had come at the time. The style still looks good, even on the DS. It was one of the most creative decisions Nintendo made in the few decades
Joe Shlabotnik said:It would have to come out in the Spring though. I don't think they'd leave less than six months between new Mario and Zelda games regardless.
Im crazy like a fox!NintendosBooger said:You're crazy if you think the new Zelda will be released any time before 2011. The Wii will be around for another two years and a new Zelda game would provide the perfect send-off for the machine. An excellent game to cap off an excellent system.
Epic Mickey looks like shit right now but we don't have any real idea of "final style" as the game is a ways off.beelzebozo said:concept art does not equal final style
see: EPIC MICKEY
Aside from the fact that all the games he has made to try to do that have done nothing for the core gamer, nothing.NintendosBooger said:What would be wrong with that?
Polari said:Four Swords was pretty much the best thing ever, so yeah.
Anyway...
I really hope this is a radical departure, I'm sick of the Link to the Past formula. Basically every game since has followed the conventions of that game without being the 100% awesome that game is. I don't think first person is the way to go, but I would definitely be down with abandoning the linear dungeon model for something more focussed on exploration.

As for new stuff in Zelda, I really want Nintendo to turn Epona into a Pegasus! I'd love to be able to fly around the overworld and have epic sky battles.

Umm, ST was announced and will be released this year. Also NSMBW, Wii Music, Animal Crossing, Warioshake, WFP to name a few. They've been working on this zelda for awhile. Fact that miyamoto wanted to show it off at this year's e3 points to it.Sohter.Nura said::lol :lol :lol
Anyway, expect surprises on E3 2010! Announcemet of announcement in E3 2010, footage in 2011, release in December 2012!
Miyamoto's idea of reaching the non-gamer is to not include the core gamer. Before this gen you would expect something like TP, Metroid Prime, Mario 64, etc. to be a big flagship title. Suddenly they're afterthoughts and we get crap Wii Fit, Wii Music, and Wii Sports as flagship titles.NintendosBooger said:Examples?
leroidys said:Wait, so its a Zelda, Metroid, Mario 2010? Holy shit. I can't believe I ever considered selling my Wii.

Just look at the lack of first party 'core' titles for the Wii and you can tell they don't exactly give a shit.

If they try to make Zelda 'appeal to the masses' it will end up being closer to Links Crossbow Training than anything else.

Mario is the only core series they have where appealing to the masses and the core gamer works, and that's only because of the name.
goomba said:Why do people keep ignoring the fact that the Wii has had more first party 'core' output than the n64 or gamecube did.
I never said it was their fault. But it is their fault that they can't find a middle ground between making something a core game and making something appeal to the masses.Vinci said:It's not Nintendo's fault that Wii Fit appeals to people more than Mario Galaxy. What the hell are you babbling about?
Look at the Wii releases in the first 18 months of this system's life and tell me that. You can't. 'Cause that would make you full of crap.
Then buy Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks (when it comes out). Nintendo needs to keep that shit out of the console Zeldas. I much prefer having the "realistic" look we had with Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess.Host Samurai said:I just want the game to be cel shaded.
Debatable. Gamecube DEFINITELY had more first party core output than the Wii does. N64 had Rare churning out AAA games, Nintendo has no developers now that even come close to what Rare was back then.goomba said:Why do people keep ignoring the fact that the Wii has had more first party 'core' output than the n64 or gamecube did.
Have you played Ocarina of Time recently because it isn't very realistic looking.bumpkin said:Then buy Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks (when it comes out). It's a hell of a lot more realistic looking than Wind Waker. Not to mention that Nintendo feels the need to dumb down the gameplay in every Zelda where they have cel-shaded graphics. Hence why Wind Waker and PH are two of the worst Zelda's yet.badcrumble said:Have you played Ocarina of Time recently because it isn't very realistic looking.

Helped you a bit there.hyduK said:Yeah, look at the first 18 months of Wii, then compare it to the first 18 months of GameCube and you'll realize how much of an abomination it was for the core gamer.
Gamecubes first 18 months:
Metroid Prime
Eternal Darkness
Rogue Squadron 2
Wind Waker
Monkey Ball 1 and 2
Super Smash Bros Melee
Pikmin
Starfox Adventures
Wii:
Galaxy
Brawl
Metroid Prime 3
Super Monkeyball Bananablitz
Excite Truck
Super Paper Mario
Mario Strikers Charged
Battalion Wars II
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn
Endless Ocean
Mario Kart Wii
Yes, I know the bolded isn't first party. If Wii had a non-1st party game in the first 18 months I would have included it too.
Not every game can be a Mensa exam like Twilight Princess.hyduK said:It's a hell of a lot more realistic looking than Wind Waker. <list that's massively selective>
Exactly. Ocarina was about as realistic looking as was possible with the hardware.hyduK said:It's a hell of a lot more realistic looking than Wind Waker.
