Only full install? I want a patch :(

Hmm not sure what your running, but the beta DID allow me to upgrade from the pre alpha. Not sure if it will patch 10.1 though.

As for the skin I had that exact issue with it being black. The reason why I mentioned the tabs on the side was because I checked out a version of that exact theme over the weekend, and I swore to get it to work the tabs had to be on the left side.

As for the black thing I can't remember wtf I did to fix it, but I remember it being something totally obtuse.

EDIT: Just installed version 1.52 of the skin aka the version posted compared to 1.51 that I had downloaded over the weekend. Shit just works now where before you definitely had to configure some shit.

Just ran sunspider on 10.10 and 10.50. The result:

** TOTAL **: *8.17x as slow* 293.8ms +/- 21.6% 2399.8ms +/- 5.8%

So it's 8x as fast on average for me. Seems like the biggest changes are in the bit operations (bitwise-and is nearly 100x as fast).

How do you disable the Aero Peek? I can't stand that thing when it comes to web browsers.
Apparently you can run it in Windows Vista compability mode which removes that, haven't tried it though. Hope you fix it.

Yeah, that worked.

Anyway to modify the right click menu? It's like 3 times longer than the Chrome and Firefox menu; it's full of crap I'll never need.

Mad props to Opera for being the first browser outside of MS own IE8 to get us some full Win 7 integration. Aero peak + jump lists = AWESOME. Doesn't appear that we'll get this in FF anytime soon with FF 4 probably at best now at the end of the year. Plus Google hasn't shown they are doing any of that with chrome either.

PS: Like the skin idea, but hate having to have the tabs on the side and in the big format.
chrome has had jump list support for quite a while

UI looks improved over the alpha, still using 10.10 as my primary browser till the stable version hits.

Just upgraded my alpha version, they improved that "O" menu now. I felt like the first iteration was just hiding things in one menu. Other than that, my favorite browser just got better.

Open standard_menu.ini, you disable any menu entries there.

And with that, Opera is my default browser.

Since I seem to be getting awesome answers from this thread, is there anyway to make the status bar behave like the status bar in Chrome? Specifically the "hides until you mouse over a link for about 150ms".

very fast javascript performance that's marred by so-so html rendering speed. i'd rather have the reverse!

This is weird my Speed dial options have disappeared, when I open up a new tab it opens up to Blank Page. I don't seem to be able to enable it. Any help?

i found out why there was no transparency: I dled the wrong file (the link at the right) instead of scrolling down for the link :lol

Nevermind I got it working, I found a bug though. Opera:Config isn't showing all the options at times. thus making some of the options just disappear, thats why I couldn't find the speeddial.

Pretty awesome update as always but dammit all to hell I just lost all my bookmarks.

Christ.
yeap I lost all my bookmarks when I tried to import them from my old install.........

Also noticed you can right click and inspect element instead of having to fire up dragonfly through the menu system, much better.

You didn't lose all your updates unless you somehow overwrote your old hidden install files. Opera 10.5 installs in a separate folder and has a separate folder within the User account data. Make sure you have hidden files able to show.

Go to:
C:Users/[Your user account name]/Appdata/Roaming/Opera/Opera/

Copy the bookmarks.ini file and paste it within the other Opera directory that the Beta makes within the Roaming folder.

Unless either of you uninstalled the stable 10.10 and decided to keep the beta or deleted your bookmarks on that version your bookmarks should still be on it.

edit: What EGM92 said.

Good to hear. Oh and the latest version doesn't require you having the tabs at the side: http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/info/?id=9281

yeah I've used opera for ages and moved around bookmarks a few times. They used to be stored in a file called bookmarks.adr, which in my o10.10 dir was massive, but after first copying that file to o10.50 then trying to do an "import opera bookmarks" I now don't have that file in either installed dir. No big deal, I never had that many important bookmarks.

Does Opera Link work yet?
Mine hasn't worked since Opera 8. I'll install 10.5 on my Win 7 machine on top of my current install cause I don't really use Opera on that machine because my bookmarks are on my laptop (yes I know how to import and export but i'm lazy)

is anyone able to use opera with their school website (WebCT or Blackboard or whatever)? It's the only thing keeping me from using opera as my default browser right now.

Started using it yesterday, it's pretty awesome. I don't notice a huge speed increase on most pages (Google Calender is slightly more responsive compared to FF 3.6) but I love the looks (this Aero theme is awesome, transparent speed dial ftw) and it starts up a lot quicker than Firefox.

Can anyone that uses this as a main browser answer a quesion for me? Do you ever have to still use IE for some sites ? The reason I ask is I pretty much use Chrome for everything unless I stumble accross some shit website that requires me to use IE for whatever reason. So then I have to fire up that crap of a browser to access the site. (usually when this happens its some buisiness that my wife pays a bill on or has to do with her work email so its not some random crap website, its an important crap website) So what I'm saying is I'd love to check out this build but hate the idea of still needing IE to do some browsing and then would have 3 web browsers .

Opera is my main browser, but because of the usual compatability issues though I use firefox as my backup, when that doesn’t work either I have the IE tab extension which runs IE in a firefox tab or something which is awesome.

There are always sites that will drive you insane, like hotmail:
I had an issue a while back where an Opera update was working flawlessly with hotmail then hotmail got updated. So I would reply to an email, click send, everything looks fine. Then I would get a reply from the other person wondering why I'm sending empty emails. ¬¬

Side note, anyone know how to get rid of the title bar when using the bookmarks/personal bar in the latest beta?

Downloaded and am still disappointed in Chrome and Opera, neither of them support forums like Xbox.com for posting. The HTML/Font bar is missing still.

Is there any way to get this to show up?

Mask as IE or Firefox, right click > site preferences.

Awesome thanks. One final question, in Chrome and Firefox you can make the tabs just a small icon as opposed to a long bar, I have figured out how to get just the icon in Opera, but it keeps the tab bar full length, how do I shorten it?

That depends on the skin. Either you change the skin on your own, or you find one that does it. Or you can just go with the flow, because the more tabs on the bar, the shorter the bars are(if you're not using wrapping that is)

For this just run IE. There's a handy shortcut in the RMB menu for the webpage.

On a sidenote, Tamils blog is really awesome for such tweaks. There's also a Opera Wiki, which may be kinda outdated. Also, theres a new site called Extend Opera which seems to be a pretty nice effort.

probably in time for March 17th if you know what I mean.

Nice news, im a hardcore Opera user. Is there a chance that i can instal this beta over my current 10.10 version and retain all customizations? Or does it must be standalone?

You can, however it is not recommended. As I said in the original post, this is still a beta version, and even though it is generally suited for broad audience testing, it still may not work at all, crash, lose data, explode or rape children, nobody knows ;P Better back up you Opera profile.

I personally always use the latest snapshot as my main browser, but I'm backed up properly so it's ok.

You can't upgrade 10.10 to the beta, but you'll probably be able to with the actual release.

edit: Or maybe you can according to malsumis.

Upgrade sucessfull, just target beta to the directory of 10.10 version, and it upgrades perfectly. I have to say browsing is really fast!!!!

Disable the status bar in Appearance -> toolbars

Another thing, each tabs now opens its own window down in the taskbar....

Targeted ads brought to you by google analytics :lol

You do know private browsing does not block things like Analytics? It just removes your cookies, visited sites and temporary files when you close the window/tab.
