Our two weeks are over, so this thread will no longer have spoiler tags for Season 2.

Orange Is the New Black is an American Netflix original comedy-drama series, created by Jenji Kohan (Weeds) and will be produced by Lionsgate Television. It is based on Piper Kerman's memoir Orange Is The New Black: My Year In a Women's Prison. All 13 episodes of Season 2 will be available on June 6th, 2014. Described as 'Oz' meets 'The L Word', and Netflix has already renewed it for a 13-episode third season.

Regarding spoilers, since all of the episodes will be up immediately for streaming, we're in something of a gray area. After some discussion, we decided that all discussion will be tagged and labeled for the first two weeks (until June 20th) while people are initially watching the series, and then after that we'll go to full discussion of everything without tags. Please spoiler tag any discussion and label which episode you're talking about outside of the tags: e.g. Ep 3:

From the creator of “Weeds” comes a heartbreaking and hilarious new series set in a women’s prison. Piper Chapman’s wild past comes back to haunt her, resulting in her arrest and detention in a federal penitentiary. To pay her debt to society, Piper trades her comfortable New York life for an orange prison jumpsuit and finds unexpected conflict and camaraderie amidst an eccentric group of inmates.

This season also takes a few scenes to get into gear. But it’s faster, and Schilling in particular slides right into her new rhythm as the seasoned prison veteran. 4 out of 5 stars

All in all the things we love about "OITNB" are still there -- the dark humor, the camaraderie, the misery and the mystery.

What felt fresh about “Orange Is the New Black” has quickly gone a bit stale, at least if the first half-dozen episodes from season two are any indication.
Buzzfeed said:
The second season of the Netflix prison drama is a gripping, beautiful, majestic thing.

Looking forward to it. I just hope they don't write Laura Prepon's character completely out of the show.

I think she's already confirmed to be signed in S3 as a full-time regular so there's little doubt your fear will come to fruition.

Can't wait for this. And LOL at that Mock Job Fair promo pic.

I was surprised at how much I liked the first season, after the later years of Weeds I didn't know if Kohan had anything good left in her. I can't wait to marathon the second season this weekend.

Judging by the first six episodes, this round is just as addicting as the first, the ensemble rising to the occasion of topping their first outting.

Creator Jenji Kohan (“Weeds”) continues to tell the fascinating stories of women rarely seen on “TV” in season two.

Orange Is the New Black might be the closest thing we have to Charles Dickens right now: a sharp denunciation of an arcane system, driven by hardscrabble characters with whimsical names that define who they are and what they like.

Will catch up on this in a few months when I re sub to Netflix. Despite really liking the first season, I'm in no rush to watch season two.

May i say that this show is funny but when the serious parts come, it's heavy or is it just me?

Marathon full power!

“Orange Is the New Black,” which was created by Jenji Kohan (Showtime’s “Weeds”), walks a tightrope between shining a harsh light on the disastrous decision-making that landed the ladies at Litchfield and displaying their formative years with compassion. Their pasts are less “Shawshank Redemption” than “Goodfellas,” with every episode using sparse, smartly edited scenes to tell one inmate’s story.

“Orange Is the New Black” is a cultural phenomenon and worthy crowd-pleaser — and is the one series everyone should watch this summer.

Yeah, I don't feel like I need to take it in right away. House of Cards S2 is still sitting on the backburner for me as well.

Piper, Tastee, Alex and Larry were all on Alan Carr's Chatty Man last Friday and it was of course hilarious
Talking about getting stuck in a male prison and Jason Biggs "masterbacting"

Do people really hate Piper? I just caught the last season about a month ago, so I missed most of the discussion.

Piper's "I don't want any problems, let's live in perfect harmony" attitude was annoying at first, but she sort of broke down towards the later episodes and is actually sort of OK.

Can't wait! It's the Aussie winter means all the good US stuff we watch is ending/ended, so this is restarting just in time.

I'm just about done with my third watch of season 1. So hyped for Friday.

Edit: I didn't realize Yael Stone, Lorna, was Aussie until I watched an interview with her.

They did what now?

Apparently Piper and Alex went to some male prison to film a scene or something, then a door shut and locked leaving Alex on the side that would be filled with male prisoners in like twenty minutes
I think that was the gist of it anyway
