What's everyone's strategy with Roadhog?
I played him for the first time today, really liked pulling/large hp pull, but I found it really hard to actually kill someone 1 on 1 after a successful pull.

The gun has a large delay between shots, so your enemy usually runs away after the first one. I tried the Hook > R2 (close range) shot > Melee, but even that didn't kill the enemy most of the time.

Should I just use the mid range concentrated shot and aim for the head or am I doing something else wrong?

You should be trying to hook squishy targets. Supports/offensive heroes. A hook + a shot will kill most of those. You shouldn't bother hooking tanks or most defensive heroes. You won't really get anything out of that. Against Bastion you should be trying to flank and hook him while in turret mode. You can personally delete him.

I'm too afraid to not use Solider 76. It's the curse of "that's who they gave me in the tutorial".

I wanna try using Mei, but I feel like anything other than an offensive character would be above my level.

Yeah Phara is definitely my favorite character when attacking. I will say her ult is not as great as it looks; damage is spread pretty thinly over the barrage and using it makes her the easiest target in the game.

Can definitely do some damage if you flank em and pop it though.

Well you 're not going to kill a Dva instantly but it'll kill most Tracers/Genjis/Reapers. Try to aim for the head when you pull them in. If your allies are nearby they'll get the chance to get in some hits as well. I like to move forward a bit just after the hook to guarantee maximum coverage.

You can start off by playing a few games against AI, no one will get angry at you there.

Which shot has the higher damage if I'm aiming for the head from up close?

This game is just straight up fun. I've gotten frustrated with a lot of FPS games recently, and this one is just genuinely fun, and pleasant to play.

This may be my favorite multiplayer game of alllllllll time if they avoid the ballance issues Valve created with TF2.

Game really needs more modes. All the ones in TF2 would be a great start. Then maybe standard deathmatch and team deathmatch modes.

Would love to see a gun game style mode where the game cycles through heroes as you kill.

I started playing this around 6:30pm and it is now 4:15am on the east coast of the US. I haven't had a game make the time fly by this fast in forever.

I haven't played enough to notice, but does the person being healed by Mercy get to see Mercy's HP on the hud? Something like that's very helpful in TF2, cause you have some indication if your healer is being attacked. I've read that the healers emote when attacked. I guess I need to listen for it.

So I saw a skin for Reaper that completely changed how he looked. No more mask and coat - it was a military guy of some sorts. I think this is bad design because if you don't know all skins, you do not know what hero you are dealing with at first glance.

Sounds like a "you" problem tbh

I haven't played much Tracer but I got someone mad at me when I started dominating with her tonight lol.

mindfuck the enemy team

Man this game is a blast! I found my squad mains too! (For now atleast)

Mercy, Lucio, Mei, Hanzo, Cowboy

Good job blizzard, one of your IPs actually won me over.

You gotta get used to a quick melee into a shot that usually kills them outright if their squishy to medium health heroes.

Had an amazing third night of Overwatch.

Tried out Hanzo for the first time, and in my second match playing him, I was killing people left and right... I couldn't believe the power and control I had. I don't think I've ever had a high that high in all my time playing.

Zarya remains one of my favorite heroes to play, with her Graviton Surge wombo combo potential being so high if my teammates can see the opportunity when I use it. She's pretty fun, and a decent counter to turrets, it seems.

As for Zenyatta, my #1 favorite hero, I love love love him. Snipers can go die in a fiery pit, but I've finally found the best way to survive with him: Hope the tank is Reinhardt and glue myself to his back, covering his weak spot, killing turrets/ Bastions myself immediately when we get to them before his shield can break, and mark my targets so I can see them and shoot through his model.

The funniest thing that just happened was when a Junkrat on our team used his ultimate and an enemy Mercy who saw that he was low-ish health tried to pistol him to death. She seemed so fucking confused and surprised when I, squishy Zenyatta, literally threw myself in front of helpless Junkrat to stop him from dying, before killing her.

Hook, short range aim for head, long range body. RIP hooked person. If they are still not dead, you should probably not have grabbed that person.

Damn, this game is fun, if I'm not bored with it by the end of beta I'm definitely grabbing this and cross my fingers hoping for a strong PC community in the future.

BTW, Mercy is best girl.

I can see this game having a lot of mileage. The characters are just so wonderfully varied and going from one to another is a vastly different experience. The have brilliantly developed personalities too. I can't get enough of Junkrat at the moment, his sadistic giggles and quips are a perfect complement to his play style.

The flip side to all this variety will be very lopsided matches if a team doesn't choose its characters well. There's a ton of strategy here too.

Probably already been mentioned but what's with the unresponsive controls in the menus on the PS4, and what's with the super low quality character models in the winning team's group photo at the end of a match? The characters on the character select screen look kinda off too. The game looks and plays great when you're actually playing but it's not all smooth sailing in the menus it seems. Anyone else notice this?

Havent noticed unresponsiveness at all, and it uses dynamic resolution so yeah it drops for that screen.

starting to get a feel for the game. at first i was kinda just picking tracer/soldier over and over again but now i'm looking out for any flaws the team might have and filling it in. played a few more characters. most favourite at the moment is D.va.
