Pacific Rim Uprising - Trailer 1

Also y'all saying this looks like Transformers... Have any of you guys seen transformers recently? On a good fight it's a barely comprehensible mess, on a bad fight it's a mess of metal with irritatingly long cuts of Shia Lebouff while Optimus and Megatron slug it out off screen.

And if we're ever gonna talk about plot, don't. We'll spend more time discussing the failure of The Last Knight more than the writers ever invested into five movies combined.

When I said Transformers, I mean at a bird's eye view. It just has the sheen and shine and unbelievableness of the series from a trailer. I also got a Starship troopers vibe from the beginning of the trailer but as it went on I thought I was watching a Transformers, Power Rangers mash-up.

Usually a trailer tricks you into thinking a movie is better than it ends up being.

This trailer makes it looks pretty crap though. I actually am one of the few who really like the first one but this looks pretty bad. Won't hold out any hope. Looks extremely cheap too. And Scott Eastwood? lol

Just looks like a piece of shit.

SO much negativity in this thread, why can't Western folks never go "oooh big monsters, OOOH BIG MECHS! OOOOOOOOOH BIG MONSTERS AND BIG MECHS BEATING THE TAR OUT OF EACHOTHER! WOOOHOOOO!" and let it go.

No.. next thing you know they want character development for the leading Kaiju. Finding out he had a bad childhood and thus wants to stomp all humans. :P.

Sorry just hyped for this as it's I Love these movies!

So for all you doubters:

It could litteraly look like that and I'd still tell you, :"over the sound of how awesome they are." :P.

Hey let me stop you right there okay. I loved Movie Wars Ultimatum but if there's anything karate bugmen teach us is that it's never too late to get messed up by producers.
You have to concede Pacific Rim was something special and a love letter by people with a vision. This movie looks like it's made by a committee.

I'm in but I was already in when it was not cool to be in. :)

We still got multiple pilots per jaeger, nice to see.

2018 cannot come soon enough.

I'll never concede! All I see is big mechs, fighting other big megs and then teaming up to fight the biggest Kaiju ever in the PR universe! :).

I like bad movies, and I am proud of that :).

*Starts Gojira vs Hedora and grabs popcorn*.

Shit looks wack based off this trailer, sorry. Loved the first so still giving this a shot regardless.

That's.. surprisingly accurate. From "It has to look like Transformers more", down to the "Do it exactly like Elba" part.

Yup.

Looks alright-ish, I guess.

My biggest problem is that the Jaegars don't seem to have the weight to them that they used to, which sucks from where I am standing but I can see that a lot of people will prefer more dynamism to the robo-fisticuffs.

The portrayal of scale, weight, and force is one of my favorite things in the original, when the one Jaegar shoots its mace-hand at the end of this trailer that is like the opposite of all that.

At least now I understand why their pilot suits were changed, making the pilots more dynamic while controlling the Jaegar makes sense all things considered. They still look kind of blah though.

Not that I disagree with you but Shia hasn't been in the Transformers franchise for the past two movies bruv, have you seen Transformers recently? ;p

I hate mecha but enjoyed the first movie just fine. This just looks kind of bad. Like anime bad. What happened to the jaegers being hulking masses with weight behind their attacks?

Progress. The Australian Jager was the newest model in the first film and it was a lot smoother than the others.

I liked it better when the robots had a bit of a cobbled together, janky feel tbh
They seemed a lot more like bigass machines in the last one.

Music is not bad, it is just bad COMPARED to the tease of the old awesome theme before it

Yeah, part of the magic seems to be missing .. also interested about the evil jaegers

I wanted to note that it's been ten years since the first movie, so you would expect that A) the technology has improved and become more streamlined and B) there's a more hopeful, optimistic, bright-and-shiny look since it's been a decade since the kaiju attacked and society has rebuilt.

Looks like there's still a scrap pile Jaeger! We see it busting out of a shed real quick, I wonder if it's one the hacker character built out of pieces of older fallen Jaegers?

I hope it gets a figure too, I don't see it in the lineup but then they also haven't shown toys of the Kaiju yet either so I assume they're still keeping some things secret.

Seems like they still focus on too much human bs. I want to see big robots kicking huge aliens through the city, not some drama about "we are the last guys who can save earth, here's a boring romance again, etc". And thanks for spoiling the endboss of the movie...
Also the robots reminds me way too much of transformers how they move and do dive rolls...

180 seconds of marketing material and everyone is an expert.
Good to know that I just need to watch the trailer to review the film.
People aren't allowed to give impressioons based on a trailer? Didn't see that in the ToS. What a crock of shit.
Looks sterile and too anime. The somewhat janky nature of the robots gave the first movie its charm and kept it from being a bad Evangelion or Gundam movie.

As someone who really didn't like the original film this obviously isn't aimed at me, nonetheless this is a hard pass from me.

I'm just not feel any of this though I do like Boyega British accent, the use of which I'm assuming falls outside his Star Wars deal with Disney.
