wait, you have a problem with Ron Perlman?
Nobody has a problem with Ron Perlman, they just have problems.
He's talking about the actual lead of the film, Charlie Hunnam, who also stars in Sons of Anarchy.

Why are all the scenes at night.![]()
You can see machine guns and a blade in the trailer, rocket launchers and shoulder-mounted cannons in concept arts. I'm guessing they can do more than punch.
Looks incredible. The only plot point that has me concerned is the whole two-people mind-melding through memories yadda yadda. Has it been explained why two pilots are needed?
Because character drama.
CG really isn't up to par for what they're trying to pull off. And I can't get around how contrived the two dudes in mind sync thing is. And I keep thinking...do they give these giant robots weapons? Or did they build giant punching machines? And there's something about the way they're trying to convey size and weight of the robots and monsters that also makes them look slightly too slow, like they're under water. I get what they're trying to do in terms of scale but something about it isn't working.
I want to be on board with giant robots smashing it up with giant monsters, done right. But nothing I've seen in the footage looks appealing. :\
Trading cards from Wondercon.
Striker Eureka is OP as hell, biggest kill ratio as well.
I love how the Russian Cherno Alpha is just a slow, lumbering behemoth; 3/10/10 haha.

I like Giant Robots beating monsters. This looks fantastic.
WTF @ Australia. OP as shit.
It was originally created to defend themselves against the Austrailian wildlife so it had to be the best.
lol, quote from another site.
Man I don't get this at all. I rewatched it to make sure, the CG looks fuckin amazing to me.
It all looks amazing. The complaints are - yes I'll say it - a hipster douchebag reaction.
CGI has come so ridiculously far in such a short time, maybe some of the other posters don't or can't remember, but frankly every time I see "oof that cg looks so rough" I cannot roll my eyes hard enough. Even brutally sub-par cg looks miles better than what we had as state-of-the-art even 10-15 years ago. It's how some folks on here like to look, I suppose, discerning. We are swimming in ridiculously high quality computer animation these days and some are just intent on keeping that Louis CK bit alive and well.

Holy fuck at the ship weapon. HOLY FUCK.
Coyote Tango is a terrible name for a Japanese mech. Are there even coyotes in Japan? Might as well call it Hamburger Charlie.
Please, I know plenty of people at ILM who think the footage shown so far isn't up to their usual standards. It's not out of the question others may notice it as well. We'll see how much they can clean things up by release. Standards change and improve over time. If you're fine with it, why are you bothered by someone else if they think or know it could be better?

One of the best or one of the worst movies ever. There is no inbetween for this.
Sounds better than giving it a stereotypical name like, "Sushi Thunder"Coyote Tango is a terrible name for a Japanese mech. Are there even coyotes in Japan? Might as well call it Hamburger Charlie.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RuleOfCool <- this is the reason for the night scenes.
In fact, I think that's the reason for the whole movie.

I would imagine this isn't their first giant robot, right? They would have had older models that were destroyed or decommissioned. You'd think the Coyote Tango would be a little less shit. I mean, this kind of thing is Japan's bread-and-butter, right?
I haven't been following this closely at all, but what their reason that two pilots mind-melding to control one giant robot makes more sense that just one person directly controlling a single robot? In cockpit drama?

omg! boat sword!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trailer pointed out that it uses memories from both pilots. I guess it gives the mech a larger moveset or maybe makes the mech smarter if two people piloted it instead of one.
