Launched on Tuesday on PS4 and PS3 and receiving glowing reviews, ‘Persona 5’ from Atlus/Deep Silver debuts at No1.

It is the first J-RPG (Japanese RPG) to debut at the top of the All Formats Chart since ‘Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch’ back in W5 2013 (‘Final Fantasy XV’ launched at No2, but it had to contend with ‘FIFA 17’). It is by far the biggest launch for a ‘Persona’ title and the first ever All Formats No1 for developer and publisher Atlus. ‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ slips down to No5 after two weeks at the top, while ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands’ and ‘Lego Worlds’ both hold on to No’s 2 and 3 respectively. Originally released on Wii U back in W13 2013 when it debuted at No12, ‘Lego City Undercover’ comes to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, pushing it back in to the chart at No8 and giving publisher Warner Bros. two Lego games in the Top 10 and four in the Top 40. Retailer promotions give boosts to ‘Overwatch’ up from No14 to No10 and ‘WWE 2K17’ up from No19 to No13.

The only other new titles to make the Top 40 are ‘Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition’ from Gearbox Publishing/Maximum Games at No23 and ‘Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits’ at No36. Sister title ‘Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls’ fails to make the Top 40.

Have we earned a temporary reprieve from "the UK has shit taste in games" this week? /s

Good job Atlus, Sega, and Deep Silver. Glad to do my part, even if I haven't actually started playing Persona 5 yet. Lovely steelbook though.

LEGO City Undercover had a very poor launch on the other systems, it looks like this title had a very low-key release.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is a remaster nobody was asking for seeing how unnoticed it went, the original game debuted selling over 50,000 units back in 2011.

Very poor debut for Yo-Kai Watch 2, but the franchise was never big there. Spain and France are the main markets.

I think there was a time and place for a Bulletstorm remaster. That game had its fans and it deserved a second chance because the original release was overshadowed by the "dick tits" marketing. Under all that was a pretty fun and novel FPS.

That being said it should have been released 2-3 years ago when next gen releases where thinner.

And it should have $40 then too.

I do love the game. It was DOOM amidst a sea of COD clones and I'm glad for the remaster but $40 is too much. Definitely waiting for a sale

Massive flop for LEGO City Undercover, not even able to take on LEGO Worlds and beginning so low on a slow week. Looks like no PlayStation and Xbox players are feeling they missed something last gen with the Wii U release.

Don't even know how to qualify what's happening with Yo-Kai Watch 2, I know UK is not Nintendo-land, but damn.

Wow, nay bad LEGO City. I'd imagine legs might be longer on the other platforms but still, that's a good result.

Awesome for Persona. Well deserved.

Lol Yo-kai Watch.

Lego sold more on Switch? How?

Indeed. It's absurd, given the unquestionable evidence represented by this thread that Switch owners are not interested in third party games at all. Probably it's the Yakuza buying all those copies to fabricate demand for the console, just like it's happening in Japan. It'll probably be the only exception for this year though, and we'll see things back to normal with Puyo Puyo Tetris, I'm sure!

LEGO City Undercover sold pretty badly. It was priced too high and probably lacks appeal to PS4/XBO users given both consoles have Grand Theft Auto.

I'm not sure how that would be a big influence. What about GTAV gives Lego City Undercover in particular a hard time?

Lego Worlds being on PS4/XBO is probably the bigger reason...on Switch there is only one Lego game for now and it has the exclusive Nintendo content from the WiiU version.

Or more appropiately it's sales on PS4 and XB1 are astonishingly mediocre which isn't exactly surprising. They not exactly consoles that target young kids or are their main demographic.

I agree about the Switch being a good target demographic for LEGO games and we will see other multiplaform games performing better on Switch (even the Wii U did it with Sonic Transformed), but right now LEGO Worlds is looking fine on PS4 and Xbox One, with sales being WAY higher than Undercover (LEGO Worlds was out early March) so it's more like there is a pure indifference about Undercover in particular.

Original version was Wii U only, I'm assuming lots of those fans are buying it again for Switch.

I'd argue that the fans buying it again will cancel out the fans who have already bought it and therefore will skip this version, so that's probably not the reason. Unlike Mario Kart this is more a 1 player game.

Would love to have some numbers to contextualise all of this. Is Persona far ahead of Ghost Recon? Does Zelda really hold up or is it just the whole market that's down? And Horizon is intriguing, didn't expect it to drop that way.

I feel like there's a whole story we don't see here.
