PAL :(

Really good debut for Zakuuuuuuu & Wikiiiiiii (this game kicks ass) considering it's only two days worth of sales. Europe is not a part of the problem.

Nintendo must have read last weeks PAL Charts thread where lots of people were saying "Nintendo (third pary) software is a joke" and shipped extra units of everything.

The immense rise of Nintendo console software really is peculiar, and makes my think it'll take quite a while before shipments of the Wii meet demand.

Edit: and I didn't even think we'd ever see Zak and Wiki on the charts. It seems such a niche game. Glad to see it chart, and even more to see it at a pretty high position too.

That would be me and this week proves me wrong. I'm glad for Zack & Wiki and Ghost squad

Told you guys, around about xmas, Mario and Sonic had no stock/sold out. And last week when we had a ton of stock come in, boom, up to number 1 it goes!

as for Zack and Wiki/Nights, Gamestation in town is heavily promoting Zack and Wiki, while Nights gets a gentle nod. In any case, i think people aren't interested in Nights, or that the release has just passed them when games such as Ghost Squad (selling well) and Zack and Wiki releasing at the same time.

I'd just like to throw out a huge, "THANK YOU" to all the european gamers. Nice to see good software get the sales they deserve (this is for all platforms, but especially Wii).

Hopefully if stock remains high, we continue to see healthy sales for that platform (and this isn't just a one-shot holiday thing).

Just so you know, that was not a snear directed at you. I just found it an odd coincidence that the week after Wii did pretty poor, it dominates the charts.

Do I win a prize?

UK anecdotal news time. :D

GAME RELEASES THIS WEEK LINK

So many good Wii games came out in the UK this week and it seems to be
Ghost Squad > Zack & Wiki> gap > Wii Chess & Nights about the same but Chess slightly in front, but MARIO & SONIC is back in stock everywhere and outselling them all - will be top 10 again.
GS has benefited by being ÂŁ29.99 and having a free gun holder in some stores - should be in top 40 all formats Units sales along with Zack & Wiki.

Wii is back in excess stock too so expect spikes for all the big games.
Not sure on Wii Play stock, but Zelda Crossbow is in short supply and keep selling out.

COD4 PS3 is OUT of stock so expect lots of people to say the PS3 is doomed as that drops.
Forgot to check the PS3 bundle situation, but the charts will show which games people are choosing.

DS is in and then out of stock, but Nintendo seem to be holding back on that for the big DS week in 2 weeks time.

Forgot to ask what the next big Nintendo title is that is being pushed after Z&W on the terminal screens.

Seriously though besides all that coming true other stores seemed to get more DS in stock than I expected and the boost was big there too.

Mario Strikers still charts after what, six months? I wonder what is its LTD.

Just Over 200,000 copies

And please - stop with the 2 days being good or bad thing, if you don't know that ALL games in the UK chart based on 2 days sales in their first week by now you should probably give up on the Europe sales threads.

Zack and Wiki is a new IP by a third party and it goes top 20 in the UK on release? And some people think this isn't good?
Nintnedo really raised your expectations this generation - most 1st party GC games didn't enter the chart that high.

All the games that come in the new PS3 bundle pack went UP in the PS3 chart but DOWN in the all formats chart, time for a rethink?

I suppose so. Look like the new PS3 bundle pack might help Uncharted into top ten.

Is it PS3 COD4 also in the bundle selection?

No, only Sony published games and I thought that bundle was for the UK only?

The main problem is we don't know how much it has sold. Maybe the numbers are increase but the position down in all formats with busy week for wii after quiet one.

The numbers definitely increased for the low down titles, but the top few like uncharted are unclear. It's shifting hardware, but their great push of PS3 games and value bundles up the chart was spoilt by one normal price shipment of Nintendo stock.

In other news Nights was number THIRTY in the Wii chart and Wii Chess completely missed the chart. Nintendo sent out a UK wide e-mail for chess this morning, presumably because nobody bought it.

Mario and Sonic @ Olympics remains in excess stock in shops I have contact with and so can easily be number one next week too as people realise it's back in stock and head out to find it. Expect a similar bumper nintendo week next week.

Good for Z&W.
I'm sorry to say I'm part of the problem, and will only buy it with a price drop. I have far too many games for my couple hours of playing per week...

I'm kinda on the same page too. ;)

Yes, but sold out :D

I think the Wii software restocking had more to do with PS3 games fall actually.

Hardware restock, new releases and massive Sonic Restock combined. My post above yours agrees - point was that all Nintendo had to do to spoil Sony's big winter promotion was to turn up. It didn't sway a significant amount of fence sitters in their direction, not yet at least.

I think the Easter market is going to be the most interesting one. It seems Nintendo are reluctant to release their schedules for it too early so we don't know whether we will get Wii Fit or Smash Bros. or neither. With continued sales like this neither has to be the favourite, closely followed by Wii Fit only.

This is the main issue with The European numbers. People compare them week to week as if it's all the same, but this week's #1 game might have sold less that the #25 game three weeks ago (during the holiday rush). Not to discount the sales of Z & W—it's great that it came in at a relatively high position—but without any hard numbers it's a little useless.

Were there really shortage for all those Wii games that returned to the chart this week? Mario & Sonic i know about, but Carnival Games, Lego Star Wars and Sonic and the Secret Rings? I'm not suprised if these games were sold out, but that 3 games (well.. 4 with Mario and Sonic) are all low on supply, that kinda suprises me.

No - If you look at the Wii top 30 a lot of those are bundle games and massive discounted titles. The bundles are hurting Nintendo at this point by devaluing the brand with trashy titles being forced on new owners.

Of those Lego Star Wars is good though, but likely discounted as the DS version was when I picked it up as a gift.

Ed: Ratatouille entered the Wii chart at 19 as a result of being bundled with all of Argos's Wii stock!

Not here, no. They range from ÂŁ35 - ÂŁ40, like most 360 games. :/
LOL. That sucks.

That's why I got a US Wii and just import my Wii games. I have saved a shit ton so far doing that, you should play Z & W though, I played it late last year and the game is a lot of fun. Definitely deserves some love.

I'll play Brawl in March, you can wait until Q3. :lol

Ah ok, it makes sense that they appear if they are bundled, thanks for the info :) But hey, 15 games within top 40 is still 15 games within the top 40, bundle or not :) Its a pretty big jump atleast. In week 52 that i checked earlier there were only 6 Wii games within the top 40, now its 15.

Total argreed! it was best decided in my life sold PAL then get US version. Only bad thing is wait for shipping.

I was seriously tempted to get a US Wii because it was cheaper and came out earlier, but I still stuck to the PAL launch; that will be my last time buying a PAL system that's not region free. :/

I'll play Z&W eventually though, just tight on cash, and not in a rush either because I have lots of play (I'm busy with Mass Effect which is > YOU) anyway.

I can wait until Q3 for Brawl. Melee was great fun, but I'm that much of a Smash fanatic (I prefer stuff like Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur :P). Besides, there's also a 360 sitting beside the Wii to ease the wait. :P

More important is that thats also 15 Wii, and 9 DS in the VALUE chart. This means that retailers are making money off Nintendo and will behave favourably to their none headline titles (Z&W) in the future.

I can understand feeling you need to import a Wii after the GCs terrible support but to be honest I've not seen any delays on titles that i've cared about so far. Shopping online (and via discounts :D) means that I'm yet to pay more than 75% of the RRP for any title this gen. Import stores tend to be less discount friendly plus I get more freedom to choose games and guaranteed online and trade in for the games too!

Each to their own though - 3 years ago Nintendo really did hate Europe, since Nintendogs opened their eyes and the new marketing team started they have learned to keep their promises and to try to smooth out the delays as much as possible. And we got Mario Strikers, Wii Chess, Maths Training DS, Big Brain Academy and many other titles first!!

Yeah, the situation is definitely a LOT better now than during GC/GBA era. Good lord, that was a painful period.

The bundle is only for the UK and only involves 1st party games.

I don't think Gamecubes were even for sale in Portugal. I can honestly say I've never seen one :lol
As for Wii, I know 5 people with one. Two of them because of me, and me because of another one :D

Mass Effect = LOL.

Josh has seen the light regarding the 360 and he has caved to get rid of it for a PS3 and sooner or later you will as well. It's just a matter of time until you break.
