so people don't use their CC on PSN and XBL? was this because of the PSN hack?

Wii U specific chart: all the titles under Black Ops 2 sold less than 330 units.

Holy fucking shit.

Not even panic mode Nintendo can save this. I want my Wii U to live. :(
It seems pretty fucking dire. 330 units. You reap what you sow so hopefully they plant some big arse piranha plants pronto!

Edit: Just had a thought. Maybe Wii U UK owners have embraced DD. That must be it. Yup.

I've posted it before and I'll post it again, a next gen console is for next gen games, not ports of past gen games.

On the wider issue of the UK market, yes smartphones, tablets and DD are important but I think the problem with retail is twofold: price and product. The cost of games in the UK in 2013 is too high, it should be as follows:

High budget PS3/360/Wii U: £29.99 RRP

Mid Budget 360/PS3: £24.99 RRP

Vita/3DS: £19.99 RRP

Wii: £14.99 RRP

Discounts are not price crashes but price correction.

Secondly the problem of the products available, fewer retail games, outsourcing, dumbing down, less variety, DLC and anti consumer policies are encouraging people to wait for price cuts and GOTY editions or putting them off entirely.

Is this normal? I think it's extremely interesting. Do other countries' charts count cards?

Great post.

Fully agree that the WiiU's difficulties stem from the fact that the software lineup is mostly ports of 360/PS3 games.

France week 03:

1 - COD : Blacks Ops 2 PS3 - Activision Blizzard
2 - FIFA 13 PS3 - Electronic Arts
3 - DMC : Devil May Cry PS3 - Capcom
4 - Far Cry 3 PS3 - Ubisoft

28/Jan/2013

Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ (+20%) reclaims No1 for the first time since a six week unbroken spell last year from weeks 46-51, 2012.

EA remain at No2 with ‘FIFA13’ (-1%) and Ubisoft climb 1 place to No3 with ‘Far Cry 3’ (-27%). Capcom’s ‘DMC’, No1 from last week (-64%) drops to No4, with the PC version launching this week. Ubisoft climb 5 places to No5 with ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (+71%) which is subject to price promotion and drops around £8 on major formats compared to last week.

Various titles move up the charts thanks to some keen pricing, such as Warner’s ‘Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes’, up 6 places to No11 (+28%) and Microsoft’s ‘Halo 4’, up 9 places to No13 (+53%). Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘Max Payne 3’ re-enters at No35 (+37%), just ahead of the lone new release this week, EA’s ‘The Sims 3: 70s 80s 90s Stuff’ at No36, which is the 8th Stuff Pack for ‘The Sims 3’…which re-enters at No39 (+42%).

What's up with Paper Mario? Are there deals / cuts? Why this come back? It's obvious that the numbers collapsed compared to Christmas, but there could be other reasons.

Probably just the numbers, should be pretty low at 20.

Agreed but would they have been much higher when the game was released. It wasnt even hitting the top 40 back then. As far as I know there has been no price drop yet it seems more people are picking it up.

Quick synopsis -

3x Wii titles - Dance, Fitness, Olympics
3x PC titles - Football Manager, 2 sims titles

This very interesting. The Monster Hunter fan base must be bigger here than I thought. Also console version above he handheld one. Hope Capcom will put 4G on WiiU. The top 3 games also make me pretty happy.

It's had a fair amount of positive reviews in the mainstream press. 3D graphics also work really well with the art style. So perhaps positive word of mouth and first hand impressions.

Iirc the Monster Hunter fanbase there in Germany is quite big.

Yeah and people like me clucking for a new game!!

So Wii U is DOA until new games start arriving, and 3DS after 2 years is Mario, Mario, Mario, and ummm more Mario. How about that Vita price drop now, Sony? Maybe try a little.

Pretty much, hopefully Rayman and Monster Hunter will give it a boost but I think Lego Undercover has the potential to shift a lot of systems if it's marketed well/bundled.
