Apparently, 48.5% of the money spent on video games software in the UK in September belongs to the 360.

PAL charts threads are going to more popular in near future now that NPD is dead, we have way more info here (drop rates, splits) and can extract some rough numbers at least, better than nothing.
By that logic everyone should be flocking to the Japanese charts threads, they have everything.

EA’s reboot of ‘Medal of Honor’ debuts at No1 in the All Formats Entertainment Chart giving the big US publisher the top 2 titles with ‘FIFA 11’ (-65%) relegated to second place.

It’s the biggest ever launch week for a Medal of Honor title with 52% of sales on Xbox 360, 43% on PS3 and 5% on PC. It’s also the 4th biggest launch week for an Xbox 360 title in 2010 and 5th biggest in 2010 on PS3. ‘Just Dance 2’, the sequel to the biggest selling game (on one format) so far in 2010, starts life at No3, pushing Ubisoft’s original game out of the Top 10 for only the 7th time since its release, down from No9 to No12. A big marketing push helps Nintendo’s ‘Wii Party’ (+298%) enjoy a strong second week, up from No10 to No4 – Nintendo’s highest chart position since ‘Super Mario Galaxy 2’ reached No3 15 weeks ago. ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2011’ (-59%) falls from No2 to No5, but Konami still have 2 games in the Top 10 with ‘Castlevania: Lords of Shadow’ (-40%) holding on, despite a slip from No6 to No10. Codemasters’ ‘F1 2010’ (-35%) drops from No4 to No6, ahead of ‘Dead Rising 2’ (-38%) by only a small margin. ‘Halo: Reach’ (-37%) falls 3 places to No8, while Namco Bandai just miss out on 2 top 10 titles as ‘Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2’ debuts at No9, ahead of fellow Namco Bandai title ‘Enslaved: Odyssey to the West’ (-39%) which drops out of the Top 10, falling from No7 to No11. The only other new entry to make the Top 40 this week is 2KGames’ ‘Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition’ at No35.

Yeah, that's pretty normal with Reach being launched that month.

But I am impressed to see Reach being spanked by FIFA though.

Classic second-week bump for Wii Party, as expected. Now to see what kind of legs it has...

Just Dance 2 gets a bigger first week, but I've seen that advertised a lot more pre-launch than Wii Party. I'm not quite sure why no-one else has copied Nintendo's approach - subdued/non-existent pre-launch ads, then a big ad splurge in the following weeks, with "booster" ads further down the line - as it seems to work a treat for the more casual titles.

Wii Party was heavily advertised on release.

I've seen nothing since.

Not really as it just for this year.

Well it's only behind Halo Reach (430k), FIFA 11 (410k) and Red Dead Redemption (?) so it's fairly impressive.

EDIT

Just reading around, apparently Red Dead Redemption (as of May) was 9th on the biggest first week Xbox 360 sales. It sold somewhere around 325k, so if Medal of Honor is 4th then the number is close to 400k on the Xbox 360...

That is a huge figure if this is the case.
Better than Bad Company 2 = way beyond my expectations, I thought the franchise was finished. Modern combat fixes everything.

Anecdotal of course, but I saw nothing pre-launch and only started seeing ads on the Monday/Tuesday after it hit shelves. Since then, I've seen loads of the "JLS play Wii Party" ads (at least one or two a day).

Indeed, if my numbers are correct Medal of Honor has sold extremely well:

Top 10 Game Sales said:
Bad Company 2 - 590,580
Modern Warfare 2 - 540,761

The above figures are all formats, which makes the number even more impressive.

4th best this year so that means it sold less than red dead redemption.

They advertise in standard gamer slots pre release & then in the ITV mums slots from launch usually.

300% leap is pretty good by anyones standards though, should breeze past 100k this week and get to 250k by Xmas no problems.

I forget what the fastest selling 360 game was pre-Reach but RDR was a slow-burner and sold well over many weeks and certainly didn't beat MOHs launch.

Would perhaps explain why I saw no ads pre-launch, then, as my TV at home is permanently on C4, ITV and BBC1 (thanks to my wife and kids, and their addiction to soaps and the X Factor!).

That said, I did see more pre-launch advertising for Other M - I'm assuming Nintendo have a different strategy for their more "core" titles?

Red Dead Redemption was 9th best this year (as of May), so how can Medal of Honor have sold less if it is currently 4th best?

I'm guessing RDR was 9th best 360 debut ever.

Wait is red dead the 9th best selling 360 game ever or the 9th best selling 360 game this year?

Surely there haven't been 8 other games that have outsold red dead this year.

I thought they said that MoH was the 4th best selling 360 game this year. As far as i knew the order went reach > fifa > red dead > MoH.

I could easily be mistaken though.

Well FIFA 11 sold 47,843 (Xbox 360) so that gives us the lowest possibility. And as Katana_Strikes clarified Red Dead Redemption sold more in its first week 181,000 (Xbox 360) so we have the highest.

I bet that EA is very happy with this result even more when you consider the "bad" reviews the game got 3 days before being released in the UK.

Bu bu but...

“Enslaved is much more than a product, it is the symbol of the future of this company. The game looks incredible, the studio is well-known and everything is on track.

“It’s important for consumers to play Enslaved because it could be the benchmark of what we have to make as a company.

“In five years Enslaved should be the most important franchise for Namco Bandai. Enslaved 2 and 3 should be our equivalent of Gran Turismo 5 or Uncharted.

“Our industry is built on sequels and Enslaved is a triple-A property

Based on this weeks chart, F1 2010 at best sold 33,000 so working backwards:

33,000 W41
50,770 W40
149,323 W39
276,524 W38 (Debut)

The Xbox 360 had 51% of that 276,524 so we have a figure around 141k.

Probably. Not substantially better, but releasing two somewhat high profile B-grade games at the same time isn't doing either of them any favours.

it's the best case scenario for DR2, it was below Halo Reach in week 38.
Edit: I remember we had some minimum for it too over these past week, can't exactly remember probably by FIFA11.

They're also performing surprisingly similar.

Considering their sales, I doubt anything would change had they been released on another date.

Medal of Honor (360) must be somewhere between the F1 and Red Dead Redemption debuts.
Love how Halo Reach is still maintaining its 101% market share on the 360.:lol
My guess at the top four launches for the PS3 this year would be: Fifa 11, Read Dead Redemption, F1, and either God of War or Heavy Rain.
