Yeah, i can see that there is a good selection of older pre-owned games, but i dont think those are counted towards these charts.M.I.S. said:In the Game stores I've seen, there's a fair selection of PSP stuff, all pre-owned, at clearance prices whereas 3DS stuff is all prominently displayed in the chart section next to PS3 and 360 software.
Mpl90 said:Guys, the PSP has a far larger install base than 3DS, even if it is almost dead software wise.
But... you know what game has always appeared, even in high positions for PSP?
Yes. FIFA
And you know what positions in charts occupied the DS version of FIFA when it appeared (2009 and 2010)?
Yeah, 30th and 26th.
It has also few games compared to the hundreds and hundreds of PSP.
So...FIFA isn't a very sincere barometer of 3DS' performance.
And, however, I'm really expecting this month's investors conference, so we'll finally see where 3DS stabilised after the drop...and how the other consoles are doing, basically![]()

Save that for the garbage thread, please.M.I.S. said:The writing is on the wall for both the the new dedicated handhelds in the West.
Not only are they competing with a resurgent 360 and PS3 and smartphones and tablets but also on price and power. It's a strange catch-22, the more powerful the handheld, the more it competes, unfavourably, with home consoles.
I wouldn't necessarily write it off completely until after Christmas though.
Nuclear Muffin said:Not much in the way of surprises, except for Kinect Joyride entering the charts again. When was the last time we had a Kinect game in the top 40? (bonus points if you can tell me any game other than Kinect Sports!)

Joy Ride not included so it's probably part of a bundle. Highest Kinect title appears to be Kinectimals at #14.

TOP 40 MICROSOFT XBOX 360 (BUDGET PRICE), WEEK ENDING 8 October 2011
bigtroyjon said:Where do they draw the line on budget or full price?
All sales figures represent our estimate of sales through the listed outlets.
Operating System Software is excluded from all Chart-Track Software Reports.
Prices and value are based on RRP to June 2002 and ASP from July 2002.
The cut-off point for Full-Price and Budget software is £16.99 for all formats except PS2, Xbox and Gamecube (£19.99).
Companies who are particularly strong in outlets not sampled are understated as a consequence of the panel structure.
As of January 2005 the Chart-Track panel is estimated to be around 90% of the UK retail market (85% July 2002 - December 2004 and 80% pre-July 2002).
Please note that December 2004 was a six week month instead of the usual 5 weeks.
those were really slow weeks, both version are above Zumba.Dash Kappei said:Everyone's excited about Dark Souls' sales, failing to understand those could be really low, that it coukd go either way. What's funny is that everyone seemed to realize that when Xenoblade came out, but apparently that isn't true anymore?
We should wait for, possibly, BKK's round numbers.

Yeah its called strong first party games, come on dude, the 3DS is in a stronger position than the VITA is. PSP or Japanese 360? Stop with the hyperbole already, even without the big guns, and despite the small userbase, the 3DS has been outselling the PSP in software sales , its certainly not much but its also not a PSP comparable situation.BurntPork said:3DS is comatose in critical condition. :/ I hope Nintendo finds something to do before Vita launches. If they don't, it's definitely going to end up like the PSP, or even the Japanese 360.
They thought they'd get a free ride without the VITA out, but these days you don't win by just beating your direct competitor, you still have competition elsewhere and thus need your own appeal, I think Nintendo has handled the whole situation pretty well after the fact, they're trying to get as many games released as possible, first and third party wise and all console launches have droughts, the 3DS might have been a little worse than usual, but it totally makes up for it this holiday.AdventureRacing said:The problem isn't with the handheld market. The 3DS just needs some games, the line-up is terrible and there is just nothing releasing. It's ridiculous to have a drought like this so soon after release.

The platinum versions seems to be doing quite well, it is almost a certainty at this point that the game has passed 7 million. FIFA 12 is my first football game in 2 years and enjoying it immensely so good sales for a good game!
seeing Dark Soul, ICO, Rage, GoW and GT5 in some places is a nice touch.Xater said:Look at all this football filling the European charts!![]()

The meme 'X has no games' is applicable here. The 3DS software selection is so sparse it's painful. People cling on to MarioKart / Mario 3D Land as saviours but it's going to take a hell of a lot more than that.Opus Angelorum said:3DS even with the price drop, on life support.
