Spec II version of GT5 with all the patches and DLC on the disk with a €39.99 price tag this Christmas would do great numbers. Too bad SCEE is being run by idiots.
Add a new good looking box-art that makes it look like a new Gran Turismo and you have another million seller.

Top100 for Germany!
Awesome.
Almost half of the chart has PC games. Expected, since it is Germany, but wowworthy indeed.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 debuts at 57 in Germany. That's higher than UK at least, where it's 24th in the DS Full Price chart, with only the top 2 titles from that chart making the UK Top40.

No 3DS titles in UK Top40, and only 1 (Zelda, 37th) in German Top100 suggest current 3DS hardware sales are quite low.

44/100 Titles for PC in German Top100 is inline with previous annual unit sales where PC made up around 40% of the market.

UK is down 15% in unit sales through September (4.7m units). Last year 68.4m units were sold in UK, if 15% decrease continues throughout the year UK would end up at 58.1m.

Germany sold 53.8m units last year. According to BIU PC unit sales were up 8% to 12.3m, and console unit sales were up from 8m to 10m in H1 2011. Portable software revenue was down 1%, no unit figure given. Could Germany overtake UK in 2011?

SCE UK will be spending the biggest amount in their history marketing Uncharted 3; £5m.

UK September All Formats:

01. FIFA 12 (Electronic Arts)
02. Gears of War 3 (Microsoft)
03. Dead Island (Deep Silver)
04. F1 2011 (Codemasters)
05. Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Square Enix)
06. Driver: San Francisco (Ubisoft)
07. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
08. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (THQ)
09. Resistance 3 (Sony)
10. Rugby World Cup (505 Games)

Over 70% of unit sales in September were for Xbox 360 and PS3.

I am not sure if 3DS software is any good indication of 3DS hardware performance, at all.

I think it's reasonable to assume that a large percentage of people buying a new console also buy at least one new unit of software to play on it.

I don't see them all picking up used copies of DS FIFA 12 ahead of new copies of 3DS FIFA 12 for example.

Any idea for the cutoff point for top 10 in UK?

Err, effectively...
In Japan, 3DS is doing great now, but there are only 5 - 6 titles in top50.
This because there aren't new games now.
The same, with a lot more force, goes in Europe.
So, to have a good indication about how it is doing in Europe, maybe it's better to wait for Nintendo investors meeting, when they will give some datas (also for the other consoles! XD ).
So far, we only know that 3DS surpassed the million one day after the price cut.
Morevoer... I've searched on Charttrack site for All formats charts in 2005 (the individual ones weren't given yet), and I saw that DS software was very, very low. Even Nintendogs, released in October in Europe, had great difficulties with each of its skus falling rapidly off the charts, without a good comeback in Christmas, and even Mario Kart was not doing awesomely (debuted at 12th, and then stayed in the 20-30th zone).
... But DS was doing very good numbers in Europe, according to various reports (to be sincer, I've also read that Nintendogs suffered shortages in Europe...it seems strange to me, but I'd like a confirmation about it)
So, what I want to say is that certainly I don't think that 3DS is doing awesome as in Japan, or good as in USA... I think Europe is the territory where there have been more difficulties so far (I think that, going by marks, if Japan and USA are respectively 9 and almost 7 1/2, Europe is 6+; this is the easiest way I found to say this concept XD ) , but I don't think the software can be a good indicator of its performance NOW.

That wouldn't explain how 260K 3DS were sold in the US, while SF did only 130K, it still leaves 130K. (And probably wouldn't find other 3DS games in top 100 there either)

In the Japan only 4-5 3DS games are in top 50, while it is the best selling console by a wide margin.

I am not implying that it is doing good, but that it software is just dead, while 3DS is probably not doing bad.

(btw, FIFA 11 on DS is a far better game than 12 on 3DS; not only 12 lacks online that 11 ha, technically it is disastrous pile of shit, it can't even run properly)

but I don't think the software can be a good indicator of its performance NOW.
yes, I don't think so too. And later, it may end up in a DS like situation, Software sales for DS hasn't pointed to its being a 150m seller console outside some titles.

The difference is I'd estimate that those 6 games in the Japanese chart make up around 30k in unit sales, with Top100 you'd probably get at least close to a 1:1 ratio of new software to hardware.

Japan also has a massive used software market, one which I don't think is reasonable to extrapolate to Germany.

If German chart is anything like UK, a comparitively similar sized market then #57 would probably only be around 2k. Now maybe it's different in Germany, but even in a bigger market like Japan #20 is less than 6k. I think it's fair to assume #57 in Germany is probably well under 5k.

I don't think you can say that with any level of confidence when we don't even have an individual formats Top10 for US, let alone a Top100.

Edit: Also top selling 3DS game in Germany for September was Zelda, ahead of Star Fox. I expect Zelda also did decent numbers in US too.

No I can't, but I just believe 3DS is actually cutting into DS marketing currently, and it wouldn't be selling anywhere this much if it wasn't for the price drop and forcibly keeping DS price high. People just want a DS, and it would be stupid not to get 3DS.

-
I doubt so, last month NSMB DS sold like 110K while OoT did like 90k. I don't see why the sales should have rised. Probably Zelda is much more popular than SF in Germany.

One thing that I noticed, is that during September, 3DS ranking in Amazon.com dropped considerably compared to the last month, however it performed quite well compared to this drop (did almost as I expected). What I conclude, is that 3DS has become a retail item that mass market is buying, not solely gamers. It is a very good sign for 3DS as it shows it is selling to the demographic that bought DS (DS didn't and doesn't rank up in online charts/pre-order charts, etc)

This would also explain why software isn't selling that good, people just by what they see at retail and there are lots of items to choose, specially that a lot of stores seemingly don't separate 3DS and DS software much.

Because the main retailers stopped sharing their data with GfK.

For games releasing in both UK and Germany I used the UK release date if different. Dates from MCV and mediabiz.de, if any have been delayed let me know :). Maybe I'll drop the obscure PC exclusives if I do this again for next week unless anybody's interested in those.

Microsoft’s ‘Gears of War 3’ was knocked off the No1 spot three weeks ago by ‘FIFA 12’, but this week the format holder gets its revenge as their new title ‘Forza Motorsport 4’ pips FIFA 12 (-62%) by just over 700 sales to take No1. ‘Forza Motorsport 4’ claims the biggest launch week ever for an Xbox 360 racing game and is just one of 7 new entries in this week’s All Formats Top 20. In many ways it’s similar to the corresponding week last year when FIFA 11 also only held on to No1 for two weeks despite a hugely successful launch. It’s also uncannily similar to this week last year with ‘Just Dance 3’ debuting at No3 (the same as Just Dance 2). In a big week for new releases, ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2012’ is the next highest new entry at No5 (its predecessor was also at No5 in the chart this time last year, however it had launched a week earlier, debuting at No2). Other newcomers are ‘Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge’ at No10 from Alternative Software, ‘Ace Combat: Assault Horizon’ at No12, ‘Dead Rising 2: Off the Record’ at No14 and ‘Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure’ at No16. Bethesda’s ‘Rage’ (-38%) slips 2 places to No4, while Namco Bandai’s ‘Dark Souls’ (-58%) falls 4 places to No7. ‘Zumba Fitness’ (-12%) hasn’t lost its grip on the Top 10 despite falling 2 places to No8, ahead of ‘F1 2011’ (-42%) at No9.

Terrible debut for Pro Evo, shows how much it has fallen in recent years. And the PS3 bias shows it's still mainly just the old-school Playstation fans keeping the brand alive. Konami really needed to up it's game.

EDIT: Also Move is dead confirmed. Just Dance 3 didn't even hit the PS3 Top 30, while charting at 13 in the 360 Top 30.

EDIT 2: I am stupid, PS3 version delayed 8 weeks o_O

word of mouth hopefully going to keep Dark Souls up there so others can indulge the fury.

Agreed. Simply amazing how Konami have bungled that franchise (which, along with MGS, is the pillar that keeps them held upright!)

The PS3 version doesn't release till 9th December ;)

Massive bombs this week; Spider-man, and WRC2. Dead Rising not too hot either.

First position is for Individual Format chart, second is for platform specific full price chart.

I notice Wii Full price chart has recently been downgraded to Top30 from Top40, Wii budget is still Top40 though.

Yay! Highest any of our console games have ever charted in the UK.

Unfortunately, it won't last because the first shipment of stock is practically sold out, and a restock is weeks away (the downside of niche games and small distributors).

Well done :), but wasn't the release date for this a bit late after most British interest in the RWC had already ended? I guess it's kind of moot if the first shipment is sold out though.

Well done Mario. Still love you guys for providing me with one of the cosiest Christmases ever playing nothing but Gripshift and loving every minute of it!

There were "issues" outside of our control on that, unfortunately. On the plus side of being on the business end of the World Cup, sales in France are going crazy right now.

Also, our game is intended to release well beyond the end of the World Cup given the inclusion of Aviva Premiership, TOP 14, and Rabodirect Pro 12 club licenses, plus a lot of customisation potential. Hopefully that will give it some legs, not to mention some people trading in their copy of RWC 2011 for it ;)

It's sad because PES is the better game this year, but the previous releases on HD consoles have been sub par and it feels like the PES brand has been tarnished too much now. Maybe Konami should rebrand it for next gen like when they went from ISS to WE/PES.

Yeah, that certainly was a benefit in France! It seems to have been released a week earlier there (French charts are delayed by one week);

01 (01) [PS3] Fifa 12 (Electronic Arts)
02 (02) [360] Fifa 12 (Electronic Arts)
03 (03) [PS3] Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 (Konami)
04 (__) [PS3] Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge (Tagmae )
05 (__) [360] Gears of War 3 (Microsoft)

Shame we only get Top5 for France, any idea which position the 360 version charted at? Which other PAL countries did it get released in? Italy, South Africa? I imagine it's difficult to get a game like this widely distributed across the whole of Europe.

the fuck? Jonah Lomu has been retried since the early 2000's. Also a NZ player. weird that they named it that.

EDIT: researched this game. It's called All Blacks rugby challenge in NZ, wallabys rugby challenge in Auz and jonah lomu challenge everywhere else. lol.

It's like John Madden, the Codemasters games used to be named after Jonah Lomu, so there's an association between the name and Rugby video games.

The PlayStation brand is much stronger there than in the US, so chances are that PSP is actually competing well against 3DS, especially since 3DS doesn't offer a significant upgrade over it.

... That said, have we all forgotten about the fact that the 3DS is the same price as the DSi there?

It has done really, really well in France. The French distributor did a big reorder after it being on the market for just a couple of days.

It has been released in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and South Africa in addition to the UK and France. Canada and the US this coming Friday. Not sure on the exact situation with other countries in Europe.
