PAL Charts - Week 45

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at Banjo and Mirror's Edge.

My local GAME had them both stocked up to the ceiling on Friday. I guess they'll both be in the bargain bin before Christmas ala Brothers in Arms and Midnight Club.

The thing with Mirror's Edge is now the word of mouth will be its short so people will rent.

I know all my friends want to borrow my copy. (I've completed the single player)

where is the logic behind that? Other Wii ____ titles were #1 on the charts so they had tight supply... Wii Music isnt anywhere close to it, anywhere in the world :lol

In the UK retail scene games that appeal to casual markets but not core gamers tend to have higher sales in their 2nd week.
In the UK as we approach december the average sales for all game titles increase.
WiiMusic is not out of stock in any store that I have seen.
WiiMusic is heavily TV advertised - this tends to cause casual games to sell well.

Therefore it is logical to pressume that WiiMusic will increace in sales in it's first full week on sale. It will probably not go up in the chart though so we may not be able to tell.

And if it doesn't - it doesn't!

It's not like i've made any hardcore analysis on this (trying to analyse and make short term forcasts based on snapshot ordinal data with tiny sample sizes is the reason these threads are full of so much comedy gold) it's just how these things have been trending recently. To me the 2nd week of sales is always the most interesting - we know the fans will buy gameX but will the hype and adverts and word of mouth cause the PuzzleQuest/Brain Training effect?

As I've mention in the JP thread WiiMusic will hit a million by the end of Golden Week, and in the ELSPA data it will hit 300k well before Easter (which could take it into the 600k category). As GOW2 has probably hit 300k already this isn't that much of an achievement tho!

WiiFit is a rare example of a casual game with massive preorders and first week sales causing initial stock shortages. In week 2 it was near impossible to see on shelves, my supermarket had 6 or 7 WiiMusic on display yesterday.

The points are not to be taken in isolation as probably cause for a rise (probably between 5% & 15%) but more as several contributory factors. :) - CT should pop this in the Blurb for next week.

Like most people here I am letting someone I know buy the game so I can have a quick go to see whether I'll hate it like Frequency (and to some extent the gameplay of Guitar Hero 1-3) or love it like Parappa & SingStar. :D

I've seen loads of ads for wii music (the music sounds awful).

So I'm happy that this was promoted alot and is still a bomba.

Eh, the same thing happened with Viva, and we got a sequel to that....

Whose talking about sequels? I'm on about half-price within the month (ala VP2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Too Human etc)

Banjo should get a sequel, but next time with space levels as well. I wanna build a space ship :)

yeah but wii music got mostly negative reviews, unlike some other games that have long legs... hence it is hard to expect it ever do great.

It could do good just because it is Wii ___ game and people dont know what they are buying, but so far it is not doing good, anywhere. Despite ads all over the place.

Because MS pushed VP as a bundle and tried to create a verstile IP out of it. But after the TV show, Party Animal, the DS game, and TiP all failed to light a fire I dont think VPs future is bright

Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree, Mario Party 8, Carnival Games, Deca Sports…

I am really happy Layton did well, as I felt bad about not having the money to put towards it this season. I'm happy to know it succeeded.

Ad watch: Just saw the 2nd PSP advert I've seen today. Tag line is 'Your whole world in your hands', the music is a sort of indie-whiteboy-funk version of, you guessed it He's Got the Whole World in his Hands. Has a Loco Roco bit in the montage.

Clearly LocoRoco 2 will be the number one selling game next week. Clearly.
:(
