The main forum is for news and new releases right? Should we move this thread to the Community forum? Then we can make a new topic on this forum when open beta (eventually) hits.
My facebreaker build is so fail. Even with the gloves, unarmed is so bad.
No bonus from anything that says "weapon", not considered one handed, dual handed or anything-handed.
Elemental hit does nothing, since the bonus fades into the facebreaker bonus (my dps is 53, elemental hit dps is 54).
I currently have tempest shield + anger (on the lookout for other elemental auras, since element damage are the only damage bonus I can get). Since my damage using mana is the same as without, I'll probably stack as many auras as I can, but even then, I don't see a future for this build.
Maybe someone else will crack the code.
The way patches roll almost weekly (if not daily), I think this counts as a news thread.
Open beta probably deserves an OT (since it will be one of those forever in beta cases, I presume) and then a regular move to the community, I think. (but of course, it is up to the red gods).

If it feels sluggish like you're rubber banding, then they are trying to fix it.
If it feels sluggish like you're not a Godlike character from Diablo 3, it's as designed.

The main reasons would be out of convenience, to support GGG, get a head start on learning the game, and in case the open beta ends up delayed again.
My best suggestion if you don't want to lose a character you spent hours on is to learn the game a bit, and then mainly play for the HC and Cutthroat races that go on, since those leagues have rather disposable characters you don't have to spend much time with.

Minion build is the laziest build. All the summon buttons are on the mouse, and play one handed with my legs streched out and reclined on my nice chair.
I started off with a summoner and enjoyed it, but ended up getting bored in the 30s. Starts going really slow because you have to stop occasionally for the zombies to catch up, otherwise they fall behind and disappear for some reason.
Playing a Marauder Archer now though and I'm quite enjoying it. Ranged attacks, high health, high resistance, decent armor. Only problem is getting the skill gems that I want, have to rely on drops or quest rewards from other characters.

I'm not using the zombie glitch. I'm playing my witch without it since I believe they're fixing it. I'm doing fine with zombies and skellies.

Skeleton Totem is ridiculous enough that I actually decided to pick up a couple of minion oriented skills to support it, but otherwise my character is mostly a spell caster.

I finally managed to get the ability to play random maps.
Playing my first one was so refreshing and unfamiliar to experience, especially since there were so many enemies I haven't fought for so long.

Are Grinding Gear Games still sending out beta keys to registered users? Been registered since a beta weekend in March but I seem to be having no luck :I
Also could someone in this thread post a mid- or end-game level screenshot? Didn't get very far in the beta weekend back then and while the game itself seemed really neat the early game environments left alot to be desired. Just curious to see how it improves as the game progresses.

I still think the pacing of Act 2 is weird and could be done better. My problem isn't just the setting, but it's that... doesn't feel you are progressing, it seems like you are doing a lot of equivalent quests instead of progressing into any direction. Going from jungle to cave back to jungle back to cave then to piramid that looks like a cave doesn't help.
I just got to Act 2, I like the jungle, and the more open feel after all those dank caves. Guess I am going back there soon though

Act 2 is mostly temples and stuff, only one cave area there is actually manadatory, and another has a very nice change to its environment.
Well, the temples feel like caves to me. But I guess you are right, caves on act 1 were series of narrow corridors and temples on act 2 mix corridors with large rooms accesible by a little door (which will mostly get you sorrounded if you're not careful).
But... hum... I don't know, in terms of setting rather than gameplay; game has impressed me less than I thought by looking on the screenshots.

What? Being able to play with NeoGAF not enough? All right, then. Here's a little extra:
We have 6 Uniques and we'll just give them away to anyone who joins this week!
That's right! Coming monday, everyone who is on the community will participate in a raffle that will award 6 luck people with the unique of their choice (first draw picks first and so forth).
The uniques aren't the hottest ones out there and people on the end-game probably have their fair share of them, but we are doing this anyway as to show that we really want to make this work, especially because, when the game becomes F2P, you'll really want to know who you are playing with instead of PUGs, plus, if things really work, we can even start special GAF leagues, which can be pretty cool if the people are involved.
So, here are the uniques:
2 Ondar's Clasps: Wrapped Mitts gloves that give 20% increase to attack speed when in full life and 13% movement speed when in low life. Plus accuracy and lightning damage.
This is a pretty good glove if you are starting the game now and does not yet have a build that is designed to keep life full or low. I guess it can also be used with Chaos Innoculation and make it a glove that gives it permanent 20% increased attack speed, which allows for a energy shield meelee build.
1 Facebrealer: As a fun fact, this might be the first ever Facebreaker on the server since I got it some 15 minutes after the patch that introduced it. It is a Strapped Mitts that give 60% incresead critical strike damage multiplier, 10% less stun, extra gore and - wait for it - 814% extra unarmed damage. This glove is quite cherished by advanced players, because it allows a monk out of anyway who accept the challenge of making an unarmed character. And take it as someone who experienced it: nothing beats punching a monkey on the face.
1 Kaltenhalt: This painted buckler is another great piece for begginers because it counters the boss of the first act. After that, you can keep it on the reserve slot as ice damage (and its subsequent freezing effect) can easily put you in a tough spot: it gives you 50% cold resistance, +5% max cold resistence and it reflects 8 cold damage right back at the mermaid from hell.
1 Redbeak: This rusted sword is great for Pain Attunement builds, since it gives you a full 100% increased damage while in low life (which applies to any damage, not only the sword's, meaning you can hold it just to make your spells stronger). It also gives 30 maximum life, which is cute.
Last, but not least
1 Silverbranch: This crude bow is... just a darn good crude bow. It gives +1 lvl to all bow gems on it, +30 accuracy rating, +5% attack speed and leeches 10 mana back from every enemy you kill. It's one of those uniques you will probably grow out of it, but having it makes you the greatest ranger this side of Act 1 normal.
