PAX Prime 2012 Registration - ALL SOLD OUT

I live in Seattle and have never been to PAX. I'm thinking about getting a couple of three-day passes.

Historically, how quickly do these tickets sell out?

Last year's 3-day passes sold out in about 3 weeks. Will probably go more quickly this year.

The Crowne Plaza has done well by me in previous years. It looks far from the con but it's probably the shortest walk to the exhibition hall out of all the hotels since you can walk downhill to University, cross the street and cut through the little concrete plaza to a 2nd-floor entrance behind the center. Hardly anybody uses it so it feels like your own private entrance to the convention.

Can't beat their rates either. The only downside is the walk back to that hotel from a day on the pier or somewhere further downhill.

You kind of have to stay until Monday if you want to watch to the end of the omegathon unless you want to take an incredibly late flight back home. My first year I stayed until monday but subsequent years I couldn't justify the extra night in the hotel room.

Guess I'll go with them.

I wanted to book Hotel Five again since I got a great room last year for $133/night taxes in but they are all booked up Friday :(

Oh well, I saved $100 on my flights, Guess I'll have to give it back and then some on the hotel.

How much are you guys paying for flight? Mine comes to $430 roundtrip. Does that seem expensive for coming from the midwest?

Any tips and tricks in how to save some money?

What the heck, booked my room now. Wait, I only have to put a deposit of one night down? when do I have to pay the rest?

Yay, I have my ticket purchased!!! Now just comes figuring out the rest.

I can get a round trip plane ticket for around $280. I am going to try splitting a hotel with 1-2 other people to save money on that.

Yeah, I need to room with someone too.
Done it twice now at events. Hotels are way too expensive.

WOW.

I've been busy all day so I've been unable to get one...god damnit.

I bet you there are so many sold to scalpers...

This blows.

I really didn't want to put my foot down until I got more word with PAXDev (cost, lineup, etc), and with PAXPrime pretty much out at this point, I think I'm almost going to rule myself out.

I'd bet the majority of them went to scalpers :(

There are still the single day passes - it's of course a lot more money to buy 3 of those than one 3-day pass, but they'll work just as well.

Well yes, but for me now, the main attraction is Dev, and without knowing what Dev costs are (or essentially, the entire trip's cost), why put my foot down and?

I guess this is gonna break my PAX streak of 08 - East 12... *sadface.

Goddammit I was out and the registration wasn't working on my phone. Got home and sold out -.- Had to pay $105 for 3 single day passes.
Got mine. There is nothing on this green earth stopping me from going to PAX this year. Any hotels you guys recommend staying in?

edit: A few more questions for those who have gone previous years. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I want to arrive to Seattle on Thursday and leave on Monday. Is that too much time for PAX?
Sheraton is great and closest. Stayed there both years I was at PAX. And that sounds perfect for days arriving and leaving.
Edit: Goddammit the Sheraton is sold out.

Damn, I check at work, no hotel tool. Check after working out and most rooms are gone.

I have 3 people staying but picked a 2 person room at the westin. That hotel decent? Also, it said the room is a king bed and a pullout, why is that listed as 2 people?

Dude, we could meet at PAX. Are the other guys from IA too?

Sold out already?! It's a good thing I got 3 passes for two friends and myself earlier today then. This will be my first time going to PAX so I'm pretty excited.

The hotel I wanted is gone as well. I think there is something else big going on that week that ends on Friday. I bet if you search the Sheraton starting Saturday you'll get a room fine.

nooooooo~!!! I've never been before, I wanna go!!

I jus got home from work and only to discover this bad news!! ;_;

I picked up friday and saturday tho... $5 more, 1 day less,

but I'll be coming from California so maybe I can take advantage of Sunday to explore the city!!

HOLY SHIT! This is my first time going to PAX Prime but I didn't think they were going to sell out so fast! I might be just going with one person instead of two now...

I am looking at the Hotel Seattle since it wasn't that much. Not sure how good that hotel is.

Well then...

paxcommunitydvd: [C] @Official_PAX There's a 3-day on eBay for $200 already. :/

Also noticing a bunch of people I've ran into at PAX Prime before all missing out on passes. This is kinda sad now.

How far is it away?

After a long day, you don't want to be walking too far. When I went in 08, I booked the Holiday Inn figuring it was cheap and looked relatively close, but yeah, 15 minute walk is not "relatively close"

I didn't expect those three day passes to sell out so quickly. I hope my friends got some, or will get the single passes. I may have to use the forum to get a hotel room this time around.

...Unless, a Gaf room is assemble?

I wish they'd simply print our names on our badges. It'd cost more, but it'd severely cut down on scalpers. Show ID when you get into the show that matches the name on your badge.

fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I had to buy 3 one-days >_<

Anywho, my friends and I are golden. I've got a hotel reservation set as well, so if a couple people on GAF want to split the cost, we could probably take 2-3 more people. PM me if you're interested

As a PAX veteran, I'm going to warn all of you that walking back more than 2-3 blocks to the hotel...fucking...SUCKS. If you're there for all 3 days, the average person's legs are going to be completely shot by the end of the convention. Saving a couple bucks on the hotel isn't worth, I'd recommend getting something close by.

Yup. If you map my years of going, I've inched closer and closer every year. Last year I was at Sheraton for Dev then at Roosevelt for Prime itself, less than 5 minute walk to the actual place.
