PC Drivers for Xbox One controller are out.

Hard to believe the excitement over this considering its wired only, is this 2006?

Gonna have to stick with the DS4 for my PC for now, I was so close to order one of those sweet Xbone Titanfall controllers too :(

now this is interesting.

Will it work just like any 360 controller, will -for example- mame recognize it and just let me play with 360 button and analog inputs mapping ?

Well, a remote play would be very nice indeed! But if theyre planning on release Halo series on PC, they will hurt Xbox One sales for sure, specially sided with Dead Rising 3 steam port.

Ive been awaiting this day!!

But i have a huge question. I cant test it now, but im super worried.

I tried installing that unofficial driver that was released a few months ago and never got it working properly. I tried uninstalling it, but now everytime I plug in my xbox one controller, it is still attached to the unofficial driver. Will this new driver from MS over ride the old one? Or do i have to go in and remove the unnoficial one manually?

But as others have said, how do you even legally get Halo 2 proper running on a Surface? I doubt Larry would be showing a pirated/cracked copy.

Halo 2 is in the Steam registry so a digital version does exist.

Disconnecting the controller keeps it on. Double tap Guide, and hold on second press to turn off (read on reddit)

Next step: headset support (360 had it, it was great)

Great to hear.

I'll make the jump from the wireless 360 controllers when there is a wireless adapter available.

I don't sit close enough for a shorter USB cable, and I'm not dragging one across the room. I already have three X1 controllers....so I can sacrifice one to my main rig.

Cant you delete the driver by right clicking on the controller in device manager? (go into properties i think)

That would force windows to use its own resources to find the driver

It's probably for the best if you remove it regardless.

It's weird I was thinking about XBone drivers yesterday and was disappointed. Now this news comes today!

Welp, just did a quick test with H2 and it works really nice. Curious when the first pc games come that will support the rumble triggers.

Just had a bash on Dark Souls 2 with them. Work as you would expect :)

The DS4 unofficial stuff does work but it is nowhere near flawless so I'm chuffed with this!

Everytime i try that, it does delete it. But once i plug it back in, instead of it being "unidentifed controller" or whatever, it comes back as Xbox one controller.

:(

Has anyone who installed the unofficial drivers tried the official ones? Do they interfere with eachother?

Do the controllers include a micro USB cable or do I need to buy one separately?

They don't include one, you'll have to get a generic one.

Check through your cable drawer, you may have a spare from a phone or Camera or PS4 pad or something.

When you get familiar with the Xbox One bumpers it's hard going back to the 360 controller.

100x this, rolling the mid part of your finger is so much quicker.

So glad I can finally put away my battered 360 controller (for PC at least) The sticks have gone so smooth after years of use!

Looking forward to playing Arkham Origins DLC, Wolf Among Us and countless other steam back catalogues with this!

I also had those installed, removed them because they were shit, installed the official ones just now and works perfect in Witcher 2 :)

BTW what was the reason for the delay? Did Major talk about it?

It seems to be working across everything with no issues so I would have to believe it took them awhile to get the drivers setup in a way that naturally fit the current xinput games but allowed for new games to take advantage of the rumble triggers and what not. I'm no driver programmer so I couldn't tell you how difficult that might be.

Im actually using the charge cable that came with my wireless xbox 360 headset. If you have one, use that! (Albeit a little short)

Awh. Would the regular controller work? ( the one without the charge and play kit)

edit: apparently it would with any micro USB cable. Awesome! I might buy it soon

Yes It would work, you also get a battery with that which will be pointless at this point.

Cheaper to buy regular pad and a micro usb cable

That is what I understood from the announcement -

... to be able to use the Xbox One controller with the same games and applications they have been playing with using the Xbox 360 controller ...
