PC Drivers for Xbox One controller are out.

Just tried it on three games. Works as well as one would expect. Don't know if it's just me but the dead zone on the sticks seems to be smaller than on the Xbone games I've played so far.

Edit: well shit. Just backed out of the game and tried to use the nonexistant touchpad to navigate Windows. I think I might be too accustomed to the DS4 on PC at this point.

100x this, rolling the mid part of your finger is so much quicker.

So glad I can finally put away my battered 360 controller (for PC at least) The sticks have gone so smooth after years of use!

Looking forward to playing Arkham Origins DLC, Wolf Among Us and countless other steam back catalogues with this!

I don't get this. I always rolled the middle part of my finger on the 360 bumpers. The only difference between the bumpers on 360 and Xbox One is that Xbox One forces you to do it the right way whereas on 360 you could use the tips of your fingers. The argument could be made that it's worse now since they're forcing you to do it only one way whereas on 360 you had the option to do it "incorrectly".

Feels much better than the 360 controller.

Yay!

Now here's to hoping developers start using the X1 icons. I much prefer the black background with colored letter designs opposed to just pure color icons

The 360 receiver is incompatible with the Xbox One controller. Right now the only option is to use a standard micro-usb cable.

damn that sucks. is it just a dongle driver issue, or is there a technical reason that it's not compatible?

Waiting for final opinions on that damn D-pad. I got to try it out once briefly and thought it was decent, but not great. But still, this 360 D-pad is so bad it's even difficult to navigate menus with it.

Wired only doesn't help me, my PC is in the other room. I use Steam big picture mode with a wireless 360 pad. I hope they release a dongle soon :(

Isn't it Wifi Direct? Hence I was asking earlier if I need Wifi turned on my PC.

No. It's an updated wireless protocol from what they used with the 360. It has less range but the through put is much greater.

Noob question maybe, but would I need a play and charge kit or just a usb cable?

No, any micro USB cable will work. You don't need batteries in it if you have it plugged in.

Never did it that way until Xbox One controller, just tried it on my 360 controller, doesn't feel as natural

Its accuracy of up down left right is far improved from the 360s, and that's not even a concern now. It's not so great at hitting corners in a pinch, fighting games etc. But all in all it does the job, and much better so than its predecessor.

It's a technical problem. The 360 uses a proprietary wireless method while the Xbox One controllers use wifi-direct (afaik) for its wireless connection. The 360 receiver was never built with wifi-direct in mind so the hardware inside it is simply not capable of it.

I can kinda help you...

My brother and I got KI at the same time day one, and with 2D fighters my execution is pretty good with stick and pad when it comes to motions, whereas he is pretty average when it comes to fighters with pad.

We both played for about a week and I completely adjusted, thinking that the Xbox One controller's d-pad was so good I didn't need to buy a stick, whereas he is unable to do simple SRK (Shoryuken) motions even to this day.

So he hates the Xbox One controller's d-pad and bumpers and performs worse than PS3/360 whereas I perform better.

I put this down to the fact that the Xbox One controller IS better overall and everyone's performance could be better with time, but at first it feels awkward. But this isn't just the d-pad, I feel the same way about the sticks too.

Not compatible. They'd need to release a new one... which i have a feeling isn't likely.

Aah okay, that's fine then tbh. I assume they'll release a dedicated one at some point if enough PC people pick it up.

As an owner of an XB1 controller (and no XB1, oddly enough), this is fantastic news. Good on them for following through on this.

This is great news. I am totally happy with my Xbox360 pad for my PC games but now if it ever takes a shit I'll have the option of getting the X1 pad instead. Which I would.

Good job Microsoft!

Now give me Flight Simulator 11....

I love the look of the X1 controller. The buttons with the floating letters in them look so good.

Using KI as an example for fighting game usability isn't a great idea... KI is very strict with directional inputs

Disappointing that it isn't wireless. How are you supposed to play when your like 8 feet away from the tv, microusb cables are all short that come with other products. I currently use a razer controller and was hoping to ditch it for wireless.

360 + wireless dongle is still the best wireless option right?

atm, yes

there's no dongle, how are we supposed to use it wirelessly then?

Thank God. I was mostly talking about side scrolling games which have become much more common on PC. La-Mulana, Rogue Legacy, Spelunky, Cave Story, 1001 Spikes, etc. For fighting games I still have a MadCatz FightPad and for some games a PS3 TE.
