PC Drivers for Xbox One controller are out.

Hm, still no good. Tried to repair the installation, tried to clean it and reinstall, only feedback I've gotten is "Device driver failed to install" when I plug it in after installing it from the links on Major Nelson's blog.

I hope more and more developers start to realize that the 360 pad isn't the default controller anymore. They likely already have assets available for the PS4 version of the game, so include Playstation button prompts with the release. Allow us to switch between our preferences within the menu system.

Transistor did this in a way, Supergiant natively supported the DS4 out of the box including prompts and use of the lightbar.

Part of the thing is, Microsoft through Windows pretty much is PC gaming. Sure there's the Linux support coming up but everything runs on Windows. By being able to push these drivers to all users in a upcoming patch they maintain that without making the user install anything on their own. Devs can and will continue to support that. Without official drivers from Sony, you risk your game not controlling the way you intended.

Until they make it work wirelessly, I'll stick with my DS4 and continue getting pissed when Uplay fucks up the controller connection and I have to reboot the game.

Travel back in time, become a Microsoft employee, work on Xbox One, get white console and controller!

Can't buy it, but it is official.
well so much for that then. I was hoping maybe that's what the titanfall controller looks like and you apply your own decals, but that seemed unlikely, lol. That's nice looking though, I would buy it if it were available.

Been waiting on these drivers for ages now. Haven't had a working wired 360 pad for my PC for months and despite my DS4 doing a great job in the meantime, emulating it as a 360 controller still doesn't work 100% right for me and it can be a hassle at times.

Even though the XB1 controller is a ton more expensive than a wired 360 pad right now, I'll take the plunge and get one. I only used one briefly and I loved what I felt, especially those triggers.

Are the smaller sticks that loose and the bumpers really that difficult to use? I mean I hated the looseness of the DS3 sticks but the fact that they had convex tips as opposed to concave tips was the thing that made the looseness unbearable at times. I'm guessing that it isn't an issue here?

If you have been using an xbox 360 controller for emulators, this will automatically work exactly like you had the 360 controller working.

Great. Great, great, great.

No. The Bone sticks are made out of a much better material than the 360 pad sticks, and the tension is almost perfect. I realize that a lot of people have said they prefer the stiffer 360 sticks, but in all honesty it's difficult to go back.

Regarding the bumpers, it may not be an issue for you. The only people who complain about it are those who lift their entire finger to depress the bumper with the tip of said finger, instead of merely shifting your finger up and tapping the bumper with the lower portion of your finger. I was pretty irritated with the bumpers until I realized this and started using the bumpers as intended, which is much more efficient.

Good to hear on the sticks.

I am a fingertip presser on the 360 bumpers though, hmm.

The bumpers are larger here though so I imagine I'll adapt to the proper way of using them in due time.

Thanks!

Damn! This is what I was waiting for for my laptop. Now when I'm on a plane I can just plug in the Xbox controller and play a game instead of using a portable mouse, they suck.

How does he got H2V on Surface? I have the latest drivers on my Surface Pro 2 and the graphics are all wonky and glitchy.

I don't know for sure when I'll get an Xbox One so I'm going to wait and see on the PC wireless adaptor. When that happens I will definitely buy one though, especially if the battery life is as good as I've read on here.

How does the transforming dpad compare to the one dpad? Im tempted to just pickup a wireless 360 controller with the newer dpad.

Why not just get the USB dongle so you can play your wireless 360 pad on there? You can find them on Amazon for like $10-$20.

I just got back from buying one, sat down to play watch_dogs with it, and it just powers off, device disconnect from windows, and now I can't get it to turn back on. I put batteries in, still nothing. I even hooked it up to my sister's xbone and still nothing. Just my luck to buy a dud. I really don't want to drive back to best buy. Is there a way to reset these or anything? This is really frustrating.

Let me put it in an analogy for you.

You have an old umbrella that you've had forever. After a while, you notice that it's covered in holes and been leaking! In fact, it's been leaking since the day you've gotten it. So you send your umbrella back to the manufacturer to fix it. They send it back and it's covered in duct tape where it was leaking. Now it leaks less, but it's still a little leaky since it's just duct tape over a hole.

Now you notice in the store a nice new umbrella with a ton of new features! "They finally fixed the hole problem!" you think. So you go inside and give the new umbrella a try. Indeed the hole is fixed, but some things just don't feel right. It's a bit too easy to open, the locks holding it up are a bit too stiff, the handle is perhaps a little less comfortable. But they definitely fixed the hole problem.

I guess I may have lost my train of thought. The main thing is that it's still the same kinda-crappy d-pad. It's still sitting on top of a stick and it makes the movement a little imprecise. When in cross mode, it's easier to feel where you're pressing, but it is just on a whole different level from the d-pad on the xbone controller, or any other controller at this point for that matter.

The only problem is the new umbrella is permanently tethered to my car :(

In that case, it might be a better idea to use one of the other controllers that talk through bluetooth like the DS4 or WiiU pro controller if you're after a good dpad.

Or to keep the analogy going, try a raincoat.

Because I always prefer wired controllers when my setup allows it. Eliminates input latency and stops me from needing to worry about batteries. I can buy a wired 360 controller for about that price, so that's what I was originally going to do before this news came around.

Now I figure I may as well update and see just how different the XB1 pad is!

You just got me thinking if I should disconnect my batteries when using my X1 controller now. I wonder if it still drains the battery when plugged in via usb.

If the controller works via usb without the battery plugged in, then it shouldn't matter if you have it plugged in with a battery inside. It may not even charge a battery that needs charging with these drivers.

You can always remove the batteries though I guess, just to be sure.

What about this update: http://www.theverge.com/2014/2/12/5...-the-xbox-one-controller-for-less-twitchy-aim Does it actually update the X1 controller itself and if yes does it get applied when using the PC driver?

This is a good point actually. Can anyone with Titanfall on PC share their thoughts on whether there's any drift like the unpatched XB1 controller had with TF?

Tried different USB ports? Or if you are on a laptop look into the USB selective suspend setting. I believe I read a long time ago that that might sometimes mess up USB ports to not properly accept devices, though I am not 100% about that.

seemless..... Thats how the drivers should be. If Halo is going to be back on PC I might just get an xbone so I can punch noobs along with PC pros.

I believe in Phil spencer.gif

Just bought one. :)
Mine came with a 2-day XBOX Live Gold trial, anyone interested? I won't use it anyways.
Wow lol. I don't want it, but it's amazing that they are putting gold trials literally in every exclusive game and now even controllers

About bloody time! Now I can play my pc games with the best gameplay ever: the Xbox one controller! MS is on a roll lately! That E3 Hype train yo!

lol batteries..silly xb1 concerns.. smh

Considering how terrible the battery life of the DS4 is I don't think it's a good idea to mock the X1 too much in that regard.

I think you can set the deadzone / sensitivity / etc within the device options. I can do it for the 360 controller. Some games even have deadzone options.

There's a calibrate option and I can check if everything works but it's impossible to know what the update did exactly. Maybe the driver itself already does take care of everything.

Anyone else having issues with the install? I accept then hit install but it sits for awhile then the green bar goes up slightly then I it immediately tells me the installation ended prematurely.

I'm having a hard time imagining that the Halo PC crowd would beat the Halo Xbox crowd if pitted against one another.

Still using my Dualshock 4 until there's a wireless adapter.

But man, do I want to stop using the Dualshock 4 and the weird software it requires.

When plugged in with USB the controller acts as a wired controller. So it does not use the batteries nor are the wireless chips active.

What would be my best option seeing as how I sit 8 feet away from my PC. The mini USB I have are too short, will I be good to just buy a 8 foot cable from monoprice, would I get any input lag at all from a longer cord?
