PC Drivers for Xbox One controller are out.

Just picked one up, been using my ps3 controller for ages and its always slightly annoyed me seeing the button labels being different. Never again!

If mouse and keyboard allowed you would be surprised.

I wouldn't be surprised at PC player's potential to roll over console players (especially equipped with m+kb). I'm an old school Quake 3 Arena player, not a Halo player. I was more alluding to the PC players that are actually playing Halo (or likely would play a new entry) instead of playing one of the many established PC fps games. I'd definitely put my money on the Xbox Halo crowd over Halo's PC player base.

Ah right about that you are. Sorry for thinking it was the other way around.

I've installed it and everything works great, i'm playing murdered soul suspect with the xbox one pad, windows 8.1 64bit here

I'm having a hard time imagining that the Halo PC crowd would beat the Halo Xbox crowd if pitted against one another.

Not a chance. Halo Xbox crowd would steamroll PC players. Halo is unique in that at it's highest level the ability to hit shots is incredibly marginalized - it is not a twitch shooter, everybody hits 90% of their shots. It then becomes a game of teamwork and strategy, and in that regard the Xbox players are years ahead.

I can't get my controller to work. It just flat out doesn't recognize it. I try the set up usb game controller command and it's completely empty. This sucks.

It appears the controller I bought today is DOA, won't even work with an xbone. is there a secret button combo to reset these at all? or should I be going back to best buy?

Worked for me.

Windows 7 x64

Installed the driver. Restarted my PC (just in case). Plugged in controller and it installed the drivers.

No issues.

I like how it rumbles when you connect it.

So I don't have a Xbone controller but I've heard good things. If I wanted to try this today what do I need? Drivers, of course, but what comes with the controller? Do I need to buy a cable?

A controller and a micro USB cable. You might have a cable lying around somewhere. Tons of devices use them. I had about 5 from random things.

If not, just order a bunch from monoprice.

I'm glad the drivers finally came out. Don't mind the 360 controller, but really prefer the xbox one controller. DS4 is alright, but I wouldn't use that thing with it's terrible triggers and flimsy feeling analogs. This is great.

Surprisingly enough I still prefer the DS4, but the Xbox One controller certainly isn't terrible. I hope whenever the dongle is undoubtedly announces, it's around $10. The price gouging on the controller and charge kit is already ridiculous enough.

I would like to get a Xbox One controller now, but it would suck if a potential wireless dongle was only bundled with the controller.

Thanks. I've got plenty of those lying around. The controller is going for about $50 right now on Amazon and since Best Buy will match that I'm thinking about riding over and picking one up. My 360 pad is in terrible shape. My left bumper hardly registers.

Hmm, is there a micro usb cable in the xbox one box?

I have never used it (my brother bought it) and wanted to test but can't find the cable.

I'll need to buy a 8 foot cable from monoprice. My PC is in my living room and those cables that come with phones, and my other controllers are too short. If you sit next to your PC you can just use one of those shorter cables.

Great. Now as soon as they let me use it wirelessly, it'll replace my PC 360 controller.

That's the one thing causing a bit of hesitation from running out and picking one up. I feel like now that the drivers are out that in a few weeks they'll start selling one with a dongle and of course the dongle won't be sold separately.

Yeah, it's definitely worth it to upgrade from the 360 controller. Especially if yours isn't in great shape. Mine was starting to show its age as well.

Yeah, the 32-bit one, as well. That one obviously failed to install (on 64-bit Windows) but neither one allows the driver to install.

I haven't been following your issue, and this advice may have been given already. Are you on Windows 7? Have you tried disabling driver signatures?

Will this work exactly like my 360 controller (sans wireless) with my steam games in BPM?
Does it add any functionality or lose any?

Nice,

Getting an Xbox One this June.

Time to sell my Xbox 360 controller, the only thing I have left of last-gen.

64 bit version just straight up didn't work.

Of course, I found some random ass post in the comments section of Major Nelson's blog that said updating Windows 7 would fix the issue and sure enough, one of the 60+ "important" updates introduced over the past 6 months made the driver work.
So update Windows 7, I guess.

Does this mean.......

I've been using the same wired 360 controller for about five years.

How does the Xbox One controller compare to the 360? Sticks and dpad?

The Xbox One controller I tried at the GameStop station felt a bit odd to me. The sticks are extremely loose compared to the 360 controller. Maybe it just mangled over time? or is that the way it is? That would seem hard to get used to.

Still debating on picking one up. Shame it doesn't work with the old wireless dongle. I guess for sitting at my computer desk having the controller wired is not a big deal.
