PC Drivers for Xbox One controller are out.

So does this mean game developers won't have to change a thing other than maybe changing the Xbox 360 buttons display to Xbox One for future titles?

shit man, it doesnt work with Skype yet?

Does anyone know a way to rig it so I can use it as my mic for Skype, that was the thing I was looking forward to most

maybe a dumb question but would the x1 play and charge kit or even just a micro usb cable then work to charge a controller plugged into the pc? (obviously this only matters if they are gonna release a dongle some time)

would be cool if someone could try and report back if no one knows

The bumpers require absolutely no movement for me to hit other than pressing down with the middle knuckle of my trigger finger. It's the only controller other than the 360 controller that's designed specifically to allow you to hit the bumper and the trigger at the same time with one finger without ever taking your finger off the trigger.

glad it works for you, but someone like me that have smaller hands find it uncomfortable (and yeah, i'm aware that I should roll my finger)

Everything else about the controller is sublime, but that bumper man. A bow run in DS2 is torture.

This is fantastic news. I hated going back to my 360 controller on PC after using my XB1 controller. I underestimated the XB1 controller at first, but I love the finish of the controller (stays dry in the hands) and have gotten used to the sticks. The dpad, while still not great, is also a welcome improvement.

Do most Steam controller-supported games allow for 360 gamepads?
The 360 controller is pretty much the official Steam controller for the moment. It's been like that for a while. If a controller is supported, the 360 one is the first on the list.

It even changes the keyboard icons to xbox controller button icons in games.

Just played some MK Ultimate Edition on Steam with this controller and that D-pad is godly compared to the 360 controller.

Someone commented on my youtube channel to let me know that letting Windows do its intrusive, annoying updates would make the Xbox One controller drivers work.

Sure enough, it fixed it.

Would be so great to get official support in games that would switch to PS icons, XBO or X360 icons depending on what you had plugged in, but probably too much to ask!

Just give us a menu option and include the assets. Seems like something that would be quite easy to implement, especially if they already have most of the work done for the PS4 version.

OK I feel really dumb but i cannot get my ctonroller to work.

i downloaded the drivers and pluged the controller into my pc, i hear the little music, then nothing.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Download both sets of drivers, I had to.

Does transistor support gamepad?

I have a sinking feeling it might be almost driver level or something, but I don't actually know. Someone call feep.

That tease!

I am so confused I know thats Halo 2 vista but it running on the surface. It could be the surface 3 though that begs the question how if there was never a digital release for halo 2 vista. What does it mean, are we finally getting a digital release for it?

For displaying the textures in game? No.

Many games can actually be override if you can find the Xbox texture assets and write over them with the same file type.

The easy explanation is he ripped an iso file and installed it via that way, but there are other methods as well.

PC gamers have been asking what will happen to games like Halo 2, Gears of War, Viva Pinata, etc after GFWL inevetibly goes down. Hopefully this is Microsoft acknowledging those people.

Some other people on GAF also jumped to the conclusion that, 'HALO 2 ANNIVERSARY CONFIRMED.' Go figure on that logical leap.

Given what happened with SF4, I'm hoping they just make GFW keys into Steam keys and put those games all on Steam.

Also, I wonder if the headset stuff works with these drivers?

I did too. Download and install the x64 driver and see if that helps. I had to for some reason.

Yeah not working either. weird. Is the light on the controller supposed to light up?

Oh well I guess for now I'll stick with my 360 controller for now.

Is the Xbox one controller charging port usb 3.0? Just asking if I need a specific usb cable to use with it.
It uses a standard micro-USB <-> USB cable, like most phones do. USB 2.0 cables work without a problem.
No way to use it wireless yet though he?
I assume the x360 wireless pc pad does not work right?
Doesn't work with the 360 receiver. Wired is the only option right now.

I don't have a long enough cable for my HTPC! Grrr continue using X360 wired version. Is there a wired X1 controller? OR would the X360 wireless dongle work?

EDIT Nope saw that two posts above...

Someone earlier linked some issues with the drivers with a regular Windows "important update." I'd make sure you have that stuff up to date as well.

Crap, the headset adapter doesn't work, nor does the stock chat headset. The 360 pad's headset port worked day one, if only for chat. Hope this is added soon.

What is assuredly the actual explanation is simpler still: Halo 2's existence in the Steam registry means a digital version of the game exists. It shouldn't come as a shock that a high-level Microsoft employee has access to it.

Yeah, drivers not working for me either. Can't even install x86 drivers on my 64-bit machine. Hrm.
Mine didn't work either until I ran Windows Update and installed all the "important" patches. I believe specifically it needs .net framework to be up to date. Otherwise the 64 bit drivers would install but throw up error 37 and the x86 drivers would refuse to install.

Just installed it twice on my Windows 8.1 machine.

When I plugged in the controller, my mouse stopped working, both times, did a system restore twice.

Not when I installed it, but when I physically plugged it in.

Don't have any "Important Updates" in windows update, but I do have an optional one I haven't downloaded yet. We will see if that works.

fully working in Windows 8.1, though I got an error message when installing the package, but it doesn't seem to affect the device functionality
