Well in professional enviroments outside the US I don't think they'd have much of an issue. I've never come across anyone even saying the word -cis-male or cis-female in The Netherlands.
I dunno, i always think they are drinking Sisi juice.

(This was a terrible pun and i should feel bad for it.)

Ohhhh OHHH, thess microsagressions are getting me all swelled up, I need to play some BFV to get me back in the mood because trans are real women and uh, the video game industry is so white, that Jerry Lawson had bleach poured on his grave, and I threw away Street Fighter because too much sexulization, HOW CAN I LIVE WITH ALL THIS DISCRIMINATION!!

I'm suing Gaf for malpractice, it's the only way to be inclusive.

Huh? I said the gene that makes people be left handed has been linked with mental illnesses, like schizophrenia, not that being left handed is a mental illness. but nice leap of logic.
All I said is that being left handed is not the norm.
And my response to you on this is that left-handed people are "normal" people that are left-handed. People with freckles on their face are normal people. You make it sound as if they are "freaks" or something.

And that's why most products are right handed if they're any handed.

You're the one who thinks that, what I say and what you think is not the same.
Being left handed is by definition not the norm, being gay is not the norm, having 140IQ is not the norm, being a midget is not the norm, this isn't an insult to anyone who has these atributes and if you think it is it's really not my fault nor problem.

So you actually go around looking at left-handed people thinking that they aren't "normal" humans?

Because a lot of it is trendy and people are extremely confused, not even joking. There's been this huge spike in trans people over the last 6 years and it's not because "society is safer now", it's because mental confusion and coddling of disorders is at an all time high and it's messing people up.

Most people that identify as trans wind up abandoning that identity in the end anyway and default to homosexuality because that's what they were the whole time. Along the way they simply got caught up in a confusing societal trend that led them astray of their actual identity and sexuality.
I believe most previously-closeted transgender Americans absolutely thought it was safer to come out while Obama was in office. I know I sure did, and I know many other trans people through Facebook who felt the same. I personally came out in 2012, but knew I was transsexual since June of 1990...and was terrified for even years before that for anyone to find out I was different.

A spike in trans people (or those questioning) can also be a result of exposure to hormone-disrupting chemicals. They are everywhere these days...even affecting the sex drives and fertility rates of straight people worldwide.

Also, being gay and/or transgender/transsexual are very different things. There isn't as much overlap in questioning as you may think.

You seem to have a very bad connotation with the word normal, I don't, I don't think theres anything wrong with not being normal, as much fun as it is seing you trying to make me look like some kind of leftaphobe I think this argument is pretty much over.

Because it's a weird way of viewing the world. The definition of abnormal (the opposite of normal) is....

Deviating from what is normal or usual, typically in a way that is undesirable or worrying.
Colloquially (ordinary or familiar conversation rather than formal speech or writing;informal. ) speaking if you aren't normal then it's undesirable.

Cmon did you just go a cherry pick one definition of the word. Here:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/abnormal

"Deviating from the normal or average"

https://www.thefreedictionary.com/abnormal

Not typical, usual, or regular; not normal; deviant.
Informal:Odd in behaviour or appearance; strange

So yeah someone with green hair is not normal. You can be normal in some aspects and not normal in others.

But there aren't naturally green haired people. I'm talking about real people with no mods to their body. And I wouldn't compare left-handed people, people with natural red hair, or people with freckles, to "midgets".

It’s absolutely fascinating what tangents these “Gaming as a backdrop but basically stealth political statement” threads go.

Some of them are obvious. You know right away where it will end up, like the OW Gay Character thread(s), those only go one direction and always end up in the same place.

This one has been interesting and a little more unpredictable.

I’m not criticizing at all. Genuinely something I take note of day to day. Yeah I’m pretty boring.

How old are you? Just for curiosity (since you said you knew it since 1990)

You have a really cool story.

Fine, you can use any other example you want, any deviation from the norm.

Hmm why not? Aren't they all caused by genetic mutations? (I think they are but it's besides the point). Again you keep trying to make it seem like me saying something isn't normal is an insult somehow, there are plenty of characteristic that are desirable and aren't normal.

You know what? I'm sorry, I didn't state exactly why I had a problem with your words on the front end. My bad. I'm not saying "YOU" personally are a bad person. Your intentions are innocent. Many people will reasonably take your words to have an improper motive when you use the word "normal" in the way there you were using it. After a few posts, I can see you aren't coming from a place of negativity, but I wanted to make you aware of how it can appear. Because your average person doesn't use the word "normal" in the same way you do.

Yes all of those things are caused by genetic mutations. Like @Helios said above I think the better word to use would be "majority" and "minority". People that have red hair, gay or lesbian, left-handed, etc are in the minority. But they are still normal human beings.

Us right-handed, black-haired, straight people are in the majority. Those characteristics don't make us the "normal" humans lol.

Perhaps it’s time to add a queer scale to reviews... so they can shut the fuck up about this shit every time. How about actually reviewing the fucking game instead of figuring out who it panders to most, if it does to begin with.

Madness

The word minority is used way too much in politics to be used anywhere else. Normal and majority are also not the same, normal only applies if it's a vast majority, example:

Being right handed is the norm, left handed people are a minuscule percentage of the population.
Having brown hair isn't the norm despite being the most common because it isn't a vast majority (In Europe anyway)

Again this is super off topic so make a new thread if you want.

Typically people who complain about pandering are the ones who are accustomed to being pandered to the most.

At least in my experience.

You know, for a social movement that is supposed to be all about 'inclusiveness' it seems there is alot of forced separatism against heterosexuality.

Be who you want to be. Be with who you want to be with. It's just not necessary to bring everyone else into it all the time. Stop shoving it in everyone's faces what it is you do with yourselves. Most people just don't give a shit what others do. If everyone just learned to mind their own fucking business when it comes to one's identity, we'd all be better off.

Is it separatism or desire to just be included?

For the record, I am not a supporter of the PC Gamer article and I feel like the dev’s response was perfect.

What an amazing NeoGaf tag to aspire to: [vis_name][/vis_name] - Statistically Normal.
People define normal as pattern recognition. Which is normal thing to do.
We take hetero as normal because almost all of people are hetero.
We generalize things because we don't want to use edge cases everywhere.
If you are anal about edge cases then you can't communicate period because everything has edge cases.
Also i don't see why you use my tag responding to someone else.
Though i agree that tag would be perfectly balanced futurama esque tag.

The reality of the world is everyone isn't always included, but that doesn't mean not accepted. There is a difference. The answer to oppression is not shaming others for who they are because it has a history of being seen as "normal". Of course I'm referring to extremists such as the author of this article.

I've just realised who wrote the piece:

Hey! I am [NAME], a lean mean, Scottish lesbian typing machine who's been working in the games media for two years, published everywhere from GamesMaster (RIP) to PCGamer, The Guardian and the BBC, VG247, RPS, GamesTM, OPM, OXM, Wireframe... plus a host of other sites and mags. This will be where I share the work not suitable for big publications. Expect more personal pieces or stranger ones than you'll find by me on those sites. Though as ever there'll be a focus on indie titles, issues of representation and a smattering of Scottish slang that'll surely leave many readers googling in desperation. This will mostly be written work but there are also some recorded interviews, videos and other oddities I'd like to share.

She received the GAF's ire for a piece she wrote on Eurogamer back in October. I feel like a bit of a dick mentioning it but I guess it's less surprising now.

Edit: @hariseldon already mentioned it RIGHT HERE (my credit giving attempt).

Pc gamer has a whole new meaning now
Made me chuckle 8/10

From an article, translated to English:
Transsexual used to be a negative term that meant disease. Its meaning changed when trans movements used the term as their own. But because many trans do not want to include pathologized terms, they prefer the term "transgender" instead. Queertrans also pointed to me out that because the term includes the word sex, it gives the false impression that trans people make the change only because they are interested in doing sex, which is a myth. Being trans does not have to do with sexual orientation but with gender identity, so the word sex justifies the hyperbolic sexualization of trans people (see trans, transgender, cis)

Sadly the same PC Gamer I have always respected as an outlet :(
I read only the UK PC Gamer all these years. Never the US version
