25 years of PC gaming and the worst I´ve had are some crashes or fps issues in some games due to negligent ports/lazy developers, but that`s something I´ve even experienced on console.......
I "pc game" since 1997 and generally all the issues may seem "easy or non existent" to us since we grew with windows 95, dos and so on.
But pc gaming is so troublesome and ridden with issues and settings INPENETRABLE to new people that would not even notice what they are doing or why are they not using their bought gear to the fullest... some examples:
-Crashes, freezes, stutters despite good hardware while similar gear can be completely ok
-compatibility issues
-Many storefronts, launchers, regional pricing
-Cheaters. I play bf5 and it is ruined every 2nd match by someone teleporting or auto aiming
-"Untold" tips and fixes that have no reason to not be automatic like:
Why new monitors and tv's are not 120/144/240hz by default? I know many people who have no idea they were running their 144hz monitor on 60hz for years...
Or that with freesync screen You have to enable vrr in nvidia control panel and enable vsync on... since it's not doing the same thing as normal vsync then. Not to mention 141fps lock to avoid ceiling lag (for 144hz display)
-Then there are all the hardware issues and problems. I use computers my whole life and I grew to hate them despite still buying the latest gear (it's a love/hate relationship
) For examplke, x570 launch was a disaster. I had to exchange motherboards and install new bios every week... and only now pc boots as fast as it did on 2500k in 2012.
-Pricing. Even before pandemic/miners. 700usd gpu is a norm and it is not acceptable... Good pc was 2k usd before pandemic and now it's like 5k. I know You can spend less but the more You spend, the less problems You get.
Then, after all of this. After troubleshooting, spending thousands of dollars, researching all the gear, compatibility, watching and reading hundreds of component reviews, PC is still treated as a 2nd class citizen and get only "ports" late...
All in all - It is not hard for us. We know what we are doing and don't think about it. 3080,3700x,x570, 4k120 oled Death Stranding - It is fucking glorious. I also don't have much issues now but the pc was 2000usd (for pc alone and at msrp really)
But deep inside, I know that I've spent more time just playing on 360,ps4 and ps5 (not really much yet on ps5) and for so much cheaper, PC gaming is not worth it, especially now at all. I recommend my friends to just get xbox and gamepass.
