(Might be a US only thing)

It's being hosted on CW's site, so you can watch it in hi-def. Right now there's only 2 episodes but I'm assuming they add new ones as they come up. This is exciting though! I absolutely loved the first season. One of the breakout acts from season 2 so far is Shin Lim, he's on the 2nd episode and he's fantastic!

Hopefully there's more seasons, this needs to be an annual thing.

I saw Lim's trick make the rounds on Facebook and was happy to see that the show is back! His trick was basically just 6 million instances of sleight of hand crammed into 7 or so minutes, but it was still pretty mindblowing how good he is at it.

So weird when shows come back like 5 years later... And my mind is still boggling from Shawn Farquhar's deck illusion in season 1.

Yeah, like I could understand the theory on some of the movements Lim did, but it was just fantastically done through and through.

Penn looks completely different as well. I knew he lost weight, but in comparison to the first season and this one he looks fantastic.

Was waiting for this thread! I was disappointed that Penn & Teller opened season 2 with a trick they did in season 1 ( the cell phone in a fish trick). When I saw P&T live in Vegas, they opened with that trick as well.

Also, the Rubiks cube guy isn't a magician, he's just really quick at solving Rubiks cubes.

Yeah Jonathan Ross looks like he aged 5 years too ( his hair cut doesn't help )
Penn of course looks older because of his weight loss
Teller doesn't age

I dont know how he does the one where he shows the card while his arms are behind his back and the card jumps up to the other hand.

Also, doesn't his marker just go in to his vest? You see his right hand curl up to shove it in when he misdirects by opening his left hand

I think Penn was talking about the 2nd time he poofed the marker, where he extends both his arms out and then adjusts to show both arms clearly. First time is definitely rhe vest

Is this anything like their Bullshit series? I loved that show

It's magicians performing tricks in front of Penn and Teller in an attempt to fool them, such that they can't tell how it's been performed. In Season 1 they won a trip to perform in Vegas if they were successful, not sure what the prize is this season. Penn and Teller also perform tricks themselves.

So, not really.

That's still a cool concept

They don't even hint at an explanation this time around. It's a great concept for a show and Penn and Teller are great, but without a reveal, I'm just watching a magic show mixtape or something. I feel like if you agree to come on the show, you should run the risk of having Penn and Teller explain how the trick works to the audience.

I'm so glad this show is back. I loved the original ITV series and the new magicians are setting a high standard already. Penn & Teller are still as classy as always too

The first season helped renew my interest as a magician after a bit of a lull. It's a magic show like the specials I used to watch was great to see. And it is a good way to find people to check out further on YouTube. :)

They drop hints to show the magician that they know.

Though they have a reputation for revealing methods with their magic, it is well-considered and determined to add value to the art of magic as a whole. It can be good to reveal a method as a artistic decision like they do, or teach people with an interest to learn magic, or to protect people from being deceived unethically. Revealing the method a magician just used, in front of their audience, is far with those.

Yeah, Penn and Teller even though they're open with their own magic, I don't think they'd wanna ruin it for any other magician so they usually drop hints.

.....Which brings me to the inflatable doll trick, was Penn hinting at the animated bunny being Thumper?

Yeah, a Thumper is a small device that is places against the magician's thigh, and can be triggered to tap, or "thump" against him. Essentially, the magician has a confederate in the audience.

edit: Just watched the first episode of season 2...that Tiny Plunger trick was awesome.

I figured out The Shocker's routine pretty easily. It uses the same concept as a card trick I learned at age 10. Basically, the first time he writes something down for envelope 1 he writes 8D. After the audience member says "Donna", he writes that down for envelope 2. Then he writes "wrestle" in envelope 3. Switches up the numbers on the envelope just before the reveal and blam. The "control" is the 8 of diamonds and he probably wrote "8D" well in advance at the beginning of the trick or even before the trick began

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Awesome show. I hope this season does well enough for CW to do another season.

Reruns of the first season did well enough on CW for them to order a second season of a show that was cancelled 3 years ago, so I'd say it has a decent chance of sticking around.

Decided to check this out/have it record & I must say, been enjoying it. Want the family to check it out considering they watch stuff like America's Got Talent & my dad would sometimes do magic tricks for younger family members.

I think there's also a version of that trick but it involves rabbits being a solid color. That could be what he was referring to....or what AMUSIX was talking about, despite the fact I haven't heard of the device.

Aaahhh, good point. I figured the 8D to 3C thing quickly as well since it could've been the ink vanishing from the heat of the lights or something, especially since you can tell where the ink was removed.

Seriously, how the heck did the Rubik's cube guy do it? I'm stumped.
Easily one of my favorite acts. You gotta admire the mental power to be able to solve a rubik's cube, especially so quickly.

This have to be the holy grail of sleight of hand card trick I have ever seen. God damn he was good.

Some of Lim's stuff was basic sleight - a lot of it was mind blowing. He did really well.

I can't WAIT for more of this show.

The only act I really didn't enjoy was the "magic mirror" one.

E: It needs to posted. Shawm Farquhar's trick from Season 1 really was amazing. Not only was the trick incredible, his banter with Penn is spot on.

Lim has been my favorite so far this season. I loved P&T's comment that his use of smoke was the only time in magic it's been "sincerely beautiful."

The second episode was CW's highest rated show in over four years and viewership was up over 20% from the previous week.

wow! And it goes up against a lot of quality network shows in that timeslot including Dancing with the Stars and Bachelorette. They need that show to air during sweeps

Lim was incredible. I thought to myself "wow, that is magic." The Rubik's Cube stuff was impressive but I wouldn't call it magic.

I also can never get enough of Jonathan Woss's accent. Hahah

Amazing. They got nearly 2 million people in the summer on CW.

I imagine the show is relatively inexpensive to produce, so that's really encouraging.

Yeah, most of the production value comes from filming on Penn & Teller's stage. Glad they sprung the money to keep The Woss on board.

Plus based on how Penn mention's them on the podcast, the management at the Rio is quite generous in throwing money towards anything that promotes the casino.
