Hi guys , just watched the first episode of the new series Penny Dreadful and wanted to share how similar I found it to The Order : 1886 .

Penny Dreadful is a horror TV series created for Showtime by John Logan and executive produced by Logan and Sam Mendes. The series draws upon many public domain characters from 19th century British fiction.

The main characters in the series are also 4 ( 3 men and a lady). Main story takes place in London, year 1891.

So what do you guys think? Am I alone here?

Penny Dreadful is more of a rip from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, the main gimmick is they recruit famous 19th century literary heroes.

I haven't seen it, but if Sam Mendes is on board, then I might have to watch Penny Dreadful.

I can kind of see the similarities, but on topic, I was watching The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen the other day, and that gave me serious Order vibes. So much so, that I almost felt an inkling of excitement for it!

EDIT: Wow, beaten if the race was to mention League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Penny Dreadful looks like its gonna be a great show from the 2 eps so far. I don't think the plot and writing will be anything to make note of just like most games.

I was somewhat apprehensive at first, but Penny Dreadful is worth watching. The first two episodes are pretty good.

Made the same comparison when watching it myself but it is more League of Gentlemen than Order. Still its a great show and I recommend it even if it is just for Timothy Dalton :p

Started watching the show and it got me even more hyped for The Order. It's a surprisingly good show, by the way. Really got me interested in seeing how Ready At Dawn are going to handle the setting.

there are creatures in the show

I've seen the first two episodes and it's really, really good so far -- even Hartnett o.0

As others have said, it has way more of a LoEG vibe than anything else.

For the folks that have seen at least the first episode:
Harnett's character is totally a werewolf, right? Right?!

Yeah, have to agree, it seems like it could be a pretty good (and deep) show. There aren't too many horror shows on television these days. And the cast in Penny Dreadful are good, been following since the first trailers.

So far, the first two episodes have me intrigued.

I got that impression from seeing him wake up confused in the second episode. I think he's Jack the Ripper though.

Order 1886 doesn't have Josh "I still can't act" Harnett. So Order wins.

Josh is fine when he has roles like this. It's when he's cast as a dreamy hunk leading man type that he falters. I think that he likes doing sci-fi and horror stuff, and when he's in those roles or roles in other movies of a similar genre, his acting is perfectly acceptable.

Saw the first episode, looks promising.

I found the part where Eva breaks down Josh's character kind of amusing since she did the same to Bond in Casino Royale. Then later she's playing tarot cards and Josh picks the Lovers card like in Live and Let Die. Bond-tastic, lol.

Finally an excuse to post pictures of Eva Green reaches the untouched Gaming section. The Lords have heard my cries.

Eva Green makes everything in the show worthwhile. SHE IS STUNNING.

Billie Piper's sex scene is pretty good, but holy crap, her accent is unintelligible. I did not understand a single line of dialogue.

Her accent is so atrocious I have to believe it's intentional. I had to put on subtitles for those scenes.

both episodes were great. they're off to a really solid start. it doesn't remind me of the order at all though. like others have said, it's pretty much the league of extraordinary gentlemen. timothy dalton's malcolm murray is looking for his daughter, mina, who at the end of episode one is
shown to be a vampire. mina... harker anyone? dracula's bride?
. it's also going to include dorian grey. i was half expecting malcolm to be a fake name and come out and say his real name was allan quatermain. they're both african hunters too. anyway, shows great, watch it! the order looks great, play it! well, when it eventually comes out. hopefully we'll see a good gameplay chunk at e3.
