People at work who only take half of a donut

This bugs me to no end. It irks me so much to see half donuts littered among everything else. They're usually the last ones to go too, if they're not thrown away altogether.

stop your whining op, either eat it or don't. You probably touch the same door knobs and buttons that they do anyway. Yes you just touched many penises.

No half measures

Havent you noticed that when you eat half a donut and feel full you still want to eat more ?

You're not making any sense to me.

There's nothing wrong with cutting a donut in half with a fork and knife. If you see it's a clean cut I'd say it's pretty safe to eat...but yeah if there's obvious pulled apart half donuts from hands grabbing it, that's not cool.

First world problems.

If it bugs you that much and people keep doing it; bring in the donuts yourself, cut them in half, and then put it out for everyone to grab the half they desire.

Hell, start your own donut halves bakery if there's that much of a market.

Is the problem that someone touched the remaining half? Because I bet people probably touched the whole ones too whether through moving them, picking them up and changing their minds, etc.

the problem is that we are trying to live in a society!

In my opinion it's like if you took the bagel, ate half, and threw back the other half. It's not germs or whatever, it's that it's basically someone else's unwanted leftover. Just take the whole fuckin thing and throw out what you don't want. I don't need to know you only wanted half.

If there is a knife sitting there then it's no big deal IMO. I've done it before -- you usually just touch the half that you're going to eat when you cut something like a donut.

If they were to take the whole thing and then only eat half, quietly disposing of the uneaten half in the dead of night wouldn't that be worse... from like a moral perspective?

No, it still gets wasted either way. And please don't make this thread about the morality of wasting food. My company probably dumps enough left over food from meetings to feed an entire country for years.

According to some in this thread it would actually just make the Africans even hungrier so why bother giving it to them.

Man, I've brought donuts in to work before and can't get anyone to take them. Everyone is surprisingly weight-conscious for a bunch of guys.

If I don't eat any donut, I still want to eat a donut. It's called self control. The desire to eat something does not mean the calories in that thing have been consumed.

Then don't eat a fucking donut lol.

So basically all or nothing, don't moderate small indulgences like an occasional donut?

its fucking rude. Take the whole donut and throw what you do not eat away in private.

You aren't going to die from eating half a donut. Nor from consuming food other human hands have touched. People can touch a full donut and leave it in the box by deciding not to take it, so it isn't like you can argue the sanitation angle anyway. Wasting food is far worse.

plenty of things people do won't necessarily make me die but are still rude and inconsiderate.

donuts are a single serving food and i don't want your half eaten leftovers.

Confession time... I was that guy, would always be clean with the cut and figured I was saving more for others, and I usually didn't want to eat 2 of them.

Same with only taking one half of a bagel.

Like I'm going to want to eat something that my coworkers' hands have touched.
This is completely pointless hysteria. Would you not eat a candy that a coworker hands to you? It's not like they wipe their asses with their bare hands and then spit on them and touch all over the donut when they cut them in half. At most they probably take a knife, touch the donut lightly to hold it in place for cutting and then proceed to pick up the other piece, leaving half of the donut almost untouched.

plenty of things people do won't necessarily make me die but are still rude and inconsiderate.
Lol, rude and inconsiderate? Only to people hysteric about silly things.

donuts are a single serving food
Says who? A donut cut in half is perfectly edible.

But what's wrong with half a donut? If someone bit into it and left half? That's rude I'd agree. But taking a knife and slicing off half the donut doesn't strike me as rude.

No because diet coke creates a false illusion when it actually triggers hunger more than fat coke which makes you feel hungry. Similarly people think they are eating less calories by eating half a donut when the calories dont matter in a food like donut its the sugar content being so high it doesnt matter if its 1 or half it gets stored as fat immediately

This isn't true. I've lost like 60 pounds since July and I drink a lot of Diet Coke.
