People who eat their food too fast

Don't be silly he uses a knife and fork.

Yeah this really annoys me too. I have a friend that eats way too fast and then almost always starts hiccuping and complaining that he ate too quickly. smh

I eat really fast. It probably takes five minutes to down a main meal. I'm always super hungry and it's not something I think about.

Probably as children quickly eating so we can go back and do our things.

My husband eats a bit slower than I do.

Who cares? It's not anyone's business to mind how anyone else eats, unless it's rude or disturbing (poor table manners, slurping loudly, making excessive noise with silverware).

I think it's annoying as fuck when people take forever to eat a plate of food, because it feels like they're eating deliberately slow for no reason at all. But really, I just don't care, especially if it's a social event and I'm just hanging out with people and have nowhere else to be. Which just about sums up 99.99% of all eating-out encounters I have.

Nope, doesn't bother me. Don't really care how fast people eat their food. But people who chew food with their mouth open? Don't get me started...

It doesn't bother me because I am a fast eater. Note I don't stuff my face I just simply eat fast.

According to my mother I've been like this since birth, my grandma used to poke extra holes in my bottles so I could drink faster actually.

I just tried to eat a cookie OP-style. 10-15 seconds per little bite is way too long. Thats not enjoying anymore, that's just stretching. Which is just as annoying to do/see people doing.

Swallowing is part of the pleasure for me.

Also you don't need that long to take all the tastes in. I've tried eating really slow and you lose the intensity of flavor when you just let it sit too long.

I eat very quickly. Then again I also eat more than anyone else at any table I've ever been at. Still finish well ahead of anyone else.

Yes, I can taste my food and I enjoy it. I cook all of my meals so cooking is a very sensual experience for me.

I have a very good metabolism and I like a lot of varied interesting food. Cookies are not delicacies. That made me laugh aloud.

I need to be very efficient with my time. I can't remember the last time I did nothing. Even when I am cooking I'm listening to music, reading or making plans. Gotta go fast.

I read every single Harry Potter book in the weekend it released. Did I enjoy them less than anyone else? Nope. I could remember things and talk about them in much more detail than a lot of slow readers. Different strokes for different folks.

Irks me when little kids do it, they eat as fast as they can to get more and I will always tell them "why don't you enjoy what you have instead of stuffing your mouth?!

Oh god, you're exactly the type of person I was going to bring up.

Stuffing my mouth is how I savor my food.

I feel for your kids :P

I avoid certain foods for that reason because I'm a binge eater. It's not really something I can control, but I can control what food I'm eating.

I have two older brothers, whoever would be done with their food fastest, could get a new portion, so there was not really an option there to not eat fast. And now i'm kinda used to eating really fast.

Sometimes I eat fast, sometimes I eat slow...

nothing worse than having a table of 4 people and 3 of the folks are waiting for the last guy to finish their meal for what seems like an eternity.

OP, before you go and group people like that, keep in mind there are people who have done this on purpose to prevent food theft. Homelessness, prison, and group homes can do that to a person. :\

This. I grew up pretty poor. If you found something good in the house to eat you hit that thing like it was gonna disappear. Hard times do things to you.

Eating slow is objectively superior but a lot of people don't have that luxury. Sometimes you only have a few minutes and you just need the calories.

Don't get me wrong I'm actually a fast eater too and finish my food before everyone I am eating with. It's kids in a classroom who try to cram slices of pizza in like 2 seconds to beat the other kids to the last slice.

Wait a second... What would be considered a slow eater?

consider yourself lucky if you've never seen one. There are certain people who, say, cut a squid ring in ten parts before eating it. Madness

I don't hate these people, I just find them super slow

I hate people who eat really slow. We have a limited lifespan on this planet, who would want to waste time sat stationary just to pump their body full of calories.

The faster I eat, the fast I get to do fun stuff like computer games.

The only time this has bothered me is in a shared dish situation.

Once 3 friends and I went in on pizza. The four of us split the cost of two extra large pizzas four ways, evenly.

They arrive, I take two pieces, to sit to watch the movie we'd picked for the night and eat. As I finish the second slice I get up for seconds.

Both pizzas were completely gone. The other three guys were done eatting also. I said "wth guys, I only got two pieces?!?" They shrugged and said "eat faster."

Haven't split anything with them in years.

Horse detective does this. I'll make dinner and serve him his portion first and by the time I sit down with my own portion, he is usually already done. Takes him less than 6 minutes to put away a whole plate of food and he always wants seconds, sometimes thirds. I can hardly finish my food most times in comparison.

I eat fast but I can't help it. My food is gone in seconds. I don't finish my food in the least amount of bites though. Just relugar "bites" (?) but I eat fast. If I slow down, it is like losing patience for me.

I'm all about proper Mastication!

Mastication: or chewing is the process by which food is crushed and ground by teeth. It is the first step of digestion, and it increases the surface area of foods to allow more efficient break down by enzymes. During the mastication process, the food is positioned by the cheek and tongue between the teeth for grinding.

Ultimately whether someone is eating their food too fast or too slow seems so pointless in the grand scheme of things. That being said, as someone who is a fast eater (no reason either - I just don't see the point in taking my time), I get more annoyed by people who eat so damn slow.

The only time this bothers me is when I'm sharing an appetizer with someone, like a basket of fries, because they tend to blow through their half and keep going. Otherwise it's not a big deal.

I eat pretty fast. My old roommate would take his time, which is fine, but he'd argue that he actually enjoys eating the food. I'm pretty sure were enjoying it all the same.

If the person buys a desert and devours it like Kirby, I don't care at all. If I'm having people over and I treat them to something and they do the same... Yeah that bothers me a bit. I paid for it, prepared it, and they're done in seconds. Doesn't seem like it was worth my money or my time, really.

Since I was kid, one rule in my house (thanks mom) was to never leave without breakfast. This meant that we had to eat really fast to get to school on time.

Nowadays, I only get 30 min for lunch break so I tend to eat really fast to have time left to watch something on tv or browse the internet.

Whenever I eat outside of work I now find it really hard to eat slow. But I don't mind, I'm used to it by now.
