Persona 4 Golden (Vita) -- E3 2012 Trailer

Anyone think Atlus USA will somehow let us play this with JP voices?

I mean, they hardly ever include the option, but I think it would be really nice for some fans.

From what I remember, The JP voices are included in the US version.

Heh...that's too bad, I got kind of excited there.

I wonder what stops from releasing a version on psn with the original voice track left intact though?

The closest thing P4 has to the rest of the Persona games is you-know-who being the you-know-what with the savepoint.

There's also that school trip they take
to the high school from persona 3

It's pretty great to see that if you've played both games, although I don't think you'll miss out on much if you haven't.

This probably has been asked before but now that the Japanese version is out, do you guys think it's worth waiting to play this Vita version or just play the PS2 version (I bought 4 years ago but haven't yet played)?

If you have a Vita and haven't played it yet, you might as well just wait.

Well, I personally think you should wait for the Vita version. It's a bit late to play through P4 for the first time if you intend to just start playing P4G as soon as it releases. Instead, play through Persona 3 Portable if you haven't already played P3 - it's on sale right now, and perfectly playable on Vita. :)

Im glad to see that Atlus didnt go adding in any unnecessary features such as forced touch controls etc. Plus how they actually kept the game as close to the original as possible, with adding other useful features. Such as the ability to buy skills found from the arcana cards. Also to help those new to the series its much easier to not screw yourself over with the random arcana draw since you see everything that appears plus the bonus draws if you can actually obtain every card from the hand.

Really is a great port on the VITA and a must have title for fans of RPG games.

Well, put it like this: Not much content is added, and a very large amount of what is added is fan service.

If you have a Vita, I'd say wait for P4G. If you don't have a Vita, play the PS2 version. It's more focused, less herpy derp and miles cheaper. And the majority of the game is the same.

Thanks. I do own a Vita, Persona 4 on PS2, and I've played Persona 3. I was mostly curious if it's A) FES to Persona 3, or B) somehow worse than the PS2 version. All I've heard of the Vita version is that it looks better and fixes the load times (I wasn't aware of load time issues in Persona 4).

I'll probably wait for the Vita version, or impressions once the localized version is out.

Id say wait for the Vita version. Regardless of what negative things others might say, Id have to say personally the game has some good improvements making it much easier to just play and enjoy along with less grinding to some extent too. With how you can purchase skills and how much easier the random arcana bonus system is. Plus the fact that they didnt "dumb down" anything in the sense of like how P3P took away the walking around the area maps a huge plus and they actually listened to what pissed off the fans with the previous port of the Persona series.

Making money in the game is still a pain in the ass though so that hasnt changed lol

I was watching Casino the other day, and I noticed how similar the daughter looks to Nanako. This isn't the best picture, but I can't find any better ones online.

Are the new costumes going to be selectable from the beginning or what? I want mah Super Sentai costumes.

Also, I take it we're getting proper Chie and Ted in this?

I assume the costumes will be unlocked and bought like in FES and P3P
You mean voic actors? They have already confirmed they're redoing Teddie and Chie

So I started playing P3 Fes and P3P on and off to see the differences and see if going P3P first was worth it (Yeah I'm a dork lol)

I'd say no. Surprisingly, there were so many little things cut out of the opening scene and early dialogues. It probably doesn't change the game too much but take that and add in the pointer-based exploration outside of dungeons and you have a half-assed port IMO.

Surely they didn't need to bastardize P4 on Vita, right?

Persona 4 Golden is a port, but everything indicates that it's definitely an improvement. P3P isn't half-assed either.

Don't blame me for the resulting anger/depression. You wanted this...

Although this:

gives me hope. First time hearing that, I hope to god it's true.
Ugh that is awful. I think of a DBZ character when I hear a voice like that. The original Teddie VA was perfect.

I think Erica from Catherine is the new VA (the redheaded waitress in the yellow dress)
No no no no no no no please no. She sounds nothing like Chie.

I hope there isn't any voice changes in P4G, the P4A VOs are disappointing.

Interesting, I thought P3P was better than P3 FES.

But when I get my Vita, this is one of the first games I'll be getting. I dare say it looks better than the PS2 version running on PCSX2 (that's how I'm currently playing it.).

How so? I put in about 2 hours on each game off and on yesterday.

P3P's exploration is nerfed and they cut away a ton of animated cutscenes. It's one of the laziest ports I've ever seen.

It's not. They just ran into the limitations of PSP/UMD and had to work around it. It's the best it could be on the platform it's on. Half-assed would imply they just put some shit out without putting any effort into it. That's not what P3P is. At all. Imho, P3P is much more playable than P3 was, though it takes a hit into the presentation as a result of being on the platform it's on. But that's not that much worse considering Persona has never been a Final Fantasy level audiovisual, big-budget RPG series.

They've added things and improved gameplay in some ways as well, so yeah, this port is not lazy in any meaning of the word.

Yeah, it's something to get used to again. Hashino was right when he remarked that he was worried over those two characters needing to be changed, but trusted in the US branch to pull it off, and Wittenberg and Rooney NAILED their characters. Sad that they're the two that couldn't make the new stuff for whatever reasons.

Not sure I'm convinced that they couldn't have done a bit more on PSP. Also, with a game like this, presentation is HUGE. Stripping a lot of it away just seems wrong IMO lol

Chie's voice in English is kind of bothersome, to me. She doesn't sound excitable enough for her character. I wouldn't be bothered by a change of VA.

I also notice that this game is coming out the same day as AC3:L Not smart IMO

It's not smart to have 10 different Vita games come out within 2 weeks of each other.

Virtue's Last Reward
Street Fighter X Tekken
Playstation All Stars
Super Monkey Balls: Banana Splits
Smart As...
Persona 4 Golden
Assassin's Creed III: Liberation
Spy Hunter
LEGO: Lord of the Rings
Need for Speed: Most Wanted

Especially when we have a mini-drought right now. I guess everyone's aiming for holiday sales though

Ubisoft games are always like 70% off after the holiday season.

Everyone should know what to do.
Yes, let's not support what seems like one of the few big budget efforts on Vita from a western publisher. That's the way to show that Vita is a viable platform!

Seriously. Apart from Uncharted and Gravity Rush, this is probably the biggest non-port out there. If it's good, it deserves an early buy
