Persona 5 - Coming 2015 - PS3/PS4

I know, different people, but we just barely got Xenoblade X release date this E3, and that isn't to far off.

I would think there is a difference between a game that isn't out yet in any version thus not even done yet vs a game that's been out in april and was just waiting for localization to finalize.
That said I wouldn't be to worried yet. If we don't get a date before TGS is over then maybe it's time to be skeptic.

Oh wow, thank god I did the smart thing and slept =X
I dropped my plan of waking up every hour to check here. Too tired.

Sad to see it's still not out though.

EDIT: Maybe in the next famitsu issue but still~
Rofl, someone please tell me the context for this gif.

Persona 3 and Persona 4 release dates were both announced in Famitsu, so maybe they're keeping up the tradition.

People needs to understand the release date in the trailer is not the end of the world.

They can announce the release date in June 26th if they want to , now to busy selling the last p4dan games they can.

At least we know the trailer is going to deliver and coming this week... in any moment.

How can this thing still come this year when they can't give us a target month let alone a firm date

Because Japan.

You can't subscribe the traditional assumptions of how western games manages their reveals/game updates compared to Japan. There's things they do similar (TGS announcements, trailers, etc ), there's things they do differently.

No, I really don't think this is right. Japan announces release dates for games regularly, just like most worldwide developers. Heck, Yomawari was just announced today and it's been given an October 29th release date. This is a very particular case, with a developer that has a particular way of doing things (Atlus).

And its still coming out in 2015? Maybe its going to get delayed now.

Again, what I think is a reasonable justification:
I always thought it'd be dumb to keep release date information as an exclusive for those who bought P4D early since it's something they'd want as many people to know as possible, so it kind of makes sense the date wouldn't be in the P5 Blu-ray version of PV02, considering it like that.

Thank you Flux. Don't cop out with that Japan bullshit, considering every other Japanese developer has adapted with the times. Atlus haven't. This isn't 1999 anymore, and if you're continually shutting out fans, then why bother?

Is there really anyone here who doesn't believe the game is ABD? How much brand awareness do you think it needs? They could announce anytime before end of August and would still have enough sales.

You're right. Thinking back more, even things I thought were slightly different are simply different IPs that are big enough to do their own thing. (Dragon Quest/Monster Hunter are big enough IPs to do their own event in Japan, not needing TGS or E3... just like Call of Duty in America, etc.)

It's more an Atlus thing, yeah.

Also Catherine's release date was announced pretty casually in their blog less than 4 months before release.

They don't necessarily make a big number from the date itself.

People going crazy man what the hell. Maybe consider that Atlus isn't the biggest player in games and thus doesn't have infinite resources making it possible for them to sustain year long marketing. I mean it's probably also taxing on the dev team to spend resources on trailers(srsly don't underestimate the work that goes into a "simple" trailer it's significant) or other promotion material.

It's not unthinkable that the release date will be announced along with their big marketing push which they do near the actual release. The way Atlus has survived was being smart about their budget and not overshooting it.

Enough to maybe not be so insular and play corporate isolationism? The series is getting bigger, and Atlus continually shoots themselves in the foot when it comes to raising the series to the next level. First essentially leaving P5 to dry at E3, then playing the run-around when it comes to it.

Did you keep up with practically every single P4 spin-off in the past 2 years? The last 3-4 months before the game's release had enough marketing push to last a whole year's.

They just like keeping the lid very tight until the game's shortly before release. And they don't cannibalize their other game's marketing.

Most of the time.

This is all moot considering they are a subsidiary of SEGA Sammy now. They aren't a plucky underdog anymore.

I don't think they are isolating the game at all. We haven't seen everything and the kitchen sink about the game, and I think that's a good thing. Would a release date be nice, especially if it is legit coming out in 2015? Sure. Is it REALLY going to hurt sales in the long run and brand awareness? Unlikely.

The strategy they have now maximizes P4DAN's exposure with minimal risk to P5.

Jeez I'm dying here. I just want to seeeeee it!!! Give me a sliver of happiness Japan, because I did not study enough for this exam coming up in an hour.

Dang this thread grew fast? I just woke up and I'm confused. Is a new trailer coming today?
guess so.

last one was soo good. i liked the cat and the 2 blonde party members.

I'm shocked it's been over 12 hours and we haven't seen a shaky cam version of the trailer at the very least. C'mon Japan! Get it together!

Yeah i cant believe Japan is too afraid of company copyiright strikes or laws.

We need a fuckin gajin to save the day.

Yes exactly my point it's a strategy and I don't think it's a bad one. I just don't think it's Atlus being isolationist or being stupid by not going with the times(unlike *cough* Nintendo *cough* region lock, fucked up acc system *cough*).

Why do we appreciate Atlus studio? Because they are in a position to do what they want to do with their games. You know the fastest way to lose that?
Overspending on marketing budget chasing after an audience that might not be there.

No you are not..... Thats my job, gotta tell people to get rid of cookies/cache too.

I understood that reference.

Japan really likes following the rules. Even rules of little consequence set by companies. We need someone with a delinquent upbringing to kick reason to the curb and upload a shaky cam of the trailer to zippyshare.

Come on, don't be a slave, just put it up already.

I'm a slave to you slaves, I just want emancipation it to release in video form not frame by frame, a bunch of it has been shown/spoiled already

I imagine this has been asked before but is it known yet what the differences between the PS3 and PS4 version are going to be(besides the obvious)?

No, nothing stated, and you can expect the only difference to be resolution (and possibly frame rate). Other then that, the game was in development on PS3 a long while, so you can imagine the PS4 version is just a shinier port of it, not built from ground up on it.

Lol it seems that Atlus have begun lurking around Youtube taking down videos. Several MV from P4D are now gone thanks to Atlustube

Oh shit i going to lose my channel since i have a couple of videos and only 1 strike yet to get banned from the Tube, damn hahaha.
