Persona 5 Famitsu details

I was thinking that all the development and resources of Persona 5 maybe will come back in future games. Persona 6 is likely to come in 3 or 4 years, but it would be so great see more games using this same engine. Like how Nocturne engine was in all PS2 Megaten games :P

They got a ton of mileage on the PS2 reusing assets and engines.

Hopefully they manage to put out a Persona 6 using this engine in a shorter time than the 8 year wait between P4 and P5.

Ideal scenario: reusing P5's shiny new demon assets allows Atlus to get out P6, SMTV, and a few random out of nowhere games like DDS and Raidou with a relatively short development time for each. PS2 generation redux, basically.

I don't expect a new persona game after 5 for awhile. Not only will they get sales from 5 but they'll probably let it stay around long enough to sell a lot merchandise of it, this franchise is now a multimedia behemoth.

I'm sure they'll do a second version of P5 a year after release.

Persona 5 Crimson for PS4?
Something like that is probably a given, yeah.

I'd personally like to see a Vita downport at some point.
P4 Golden on-the-go was just too convenient.

To be fair, I don't think Persona 4 Golden was made until about 4 years after the original release........They also didn't have DLC on the ps2.

This is what I want out of P5's existence.

This is probably what is really gonna happen.

I kinda figured thats whats gonna happen to this game. They made P4 their cash cow for a while. Probably gonna do the same with this.

That kinda bums me out. I would rather they make another entry. I mean p3 to p4, were some of my favorite games on the PS2, It would be a shame if they only made one mainline game. If they do make a 6 it woul probably be at the end of the concole life cycle like how P4 was at the end of the Ps2.

I'm fine with P Studio taking a break and making a new IP like they did with Catherine.

No "ultimate edition" this time please. Can I have a complete game for once on the same platform I bought the game for? They can sell DLC so there's no excuse this time.

That was rumbling around in my head recently, but it needs multiple teams hitting their stride boom boom boom.

Just need some Kaneko goodness and we're alllllllllllllll set.

I kind of want a fast turnaround for Persona 6 now that they have the assets. Kind of like P3 --> P4.

I'd still be happy with a Catherine 2 (really fun game) or some kind of other game from P Studio though.

Also still hoping for SMTV and maybe another SMT spinoff at least on consoles.

I want a Raiden Kuzunoha game again :/ well not necessarily Raiden just something with that style of gameplay.

I would buy a Raiden Kuzonoha game.

I'd rather Persona 6 not come so soon after.

Because we're gonna need some Persona 5 spinoffs first. I need my Persona cooking game darn it!

I thought 4's dub was pretty good, but to each their own.

Yeah 4's dub IMO was brilliant. I played Golden though so I can't comment on original Chie, but new Chie was hella rad. It also has Troy Baker's best performance yet.

I also thought P3's dub was great.
Fuuka is fine.

Please no. Spin offs are fine, but I hope Persona 6 comes within 2-3 years of 5. I'm here for the RPG's, not the fighting games, not the dancing game and sadly not Q either.

Regardless of what I think, since the scenario is finished I'm sure Persona Team's creative group is already thinking about or planning their next game.

They practically took a break all last gen, they need to step it up.

I meant break from Persona. After Persona 5, I would be fine with them not forcing to make a sequel if what they preferred was to work on a whole other game, potentially using the same engine or reusing assets from P5.

And I think it's disingenuous to say that they took a "break" when referring to their recent output until now. Ignoring the spin-offs they collaborated on or took control of, and Catherine, they were working on an in-house, elaborate engine to develop Persona 5 with and the creation of whole new HD assets, which Hashino says was a major reason as to why things have taken so long. With that investment approaching its first payoff, they'll be able to create more without having to worry about intricate back-end elements like those again, especially with Sega's support.

I don't usually have any expectations for any game I'm thirsty for because I want the Devs to tell the story they want to tell instead of one I'm expecting from them.

Hahaha damn no idea why I wrote Raiden I definitely thought Raidou in my head. Thanks for pointing it out!

I think I'm also part of the group that would be happy for them to make something different after Persona 5 unless they really want to go and make P6.
I'm just a big believer of the importance of mixing things up. It's just creatively healthy.

I'm curious... Why would anyone want a straight character in P5?

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind a well developed character but I wouldn't want a heterosexual character in the game just for the sake of having one. It'll just turn out bad.

I do, because a game that's about breaking through harmful societal boundaries would suck ass if it did so in the glurgiest, safest way possible.

The fuck does "having one for the sake of having one" mean, anyway? Does a character need a reason to be gay? Yosuke was going to be a romance option in P4 before it was cut, so it's clearly something they've had in mind.

I think he meant that the character should have been built from the ground up with bi/gay/straight intentions. For example I hate games with all the romance games with everyone being bi. As for your P4 example, I suspected Yosuke was going to an option, the ending and whole social link thing was so awkward. Why is he so mean to Kanji then in the game?

Im just thinking back to video game history and stereo types. If there is going to be a gay/bi/confuse character cool. I just want him/her developed and not there to just be there is all.

From yoUr first paragraph it's easy to see you know about this game than I do. So yeah a gay/confused/bi character would fit nicely in this game.

do the straight characters need a reason to be straight? :^)

That's a harmful way to say it because people don't need a reason to be gay. That said, I do kinda agree that if they're going to tell the story, it'd obviously be a focal point for that character's story in the game. In that case, it does need to be a situation where the writers are genuinely interested in telling the story and have done research as far as the situation would go instead of just half-assing it.

Just out of curiosity, are there any sources to confirm Yosuke being a romance option. I wouldn't doubt it with the way a good bit of his dialogue goes. I'm just curious to see concrete sources since I've only seen it mentioned to this point.

I don't understand. Usually the "straight" characters are build and develope from the ground up and I just want the same for gay/bi/confuse.

The problem is that being straight and other norms are in fact norms. Any trait where it involves a minority is generally a case where it won't happen unless the designers go out of the way for it.

Where did I say anything about reason? A gay/bi/confuse person doesn't need a reason to be that way. I just said I would like them to be well developed.

Yosuke harasses Kanji over his sexuality issues for the same reason he harasses Naoto over her complex over her perceived immatury; it's because Yosuke's a dickhead.

And you're thinking the Persona team couldn't do it if they wanted to? Not after Kanji?

Even when they want to, writers are always accused of adding LGBT characters "just because" regardless of the circumstance.

I think they can do it but they did cop out in P4 by turning that dude into a chick. Atleast that's how I saw it. But yeah if they fully commit then yes they can do it.

And the slightly overlooked argument here is that if they include social links as before it'd be nice to have romance options for players that prefer dating men. I'm sick of having only women as romance choices in mainstream games, and if they insist on the male protagonist for everyone they could at least make him bi.

Wow, Yosuke was going to be a romance option in P4 and it was cut? Mind = Blown

Honestly this hurts more than all the MGSV content cuts

That part of your statement implies that a reason needs to be had to have a gay character while straight characters wouldn't rather than that you hope that if a character who has being gay as part of their focus of the story, you hope it's because the developers put a lot of thought into the story and are genuinely interested in the issue and care about it.

What if Social Links had no romance options.

Is there a good LP of any Persona game? I'm a big Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fan and I really like the whole supernatural in everyday life of Persona but I just can't like the games >_<. I tried playing Persona 3 on PSP but gave up after the train boss, I just hated the dungeons being random since there is nothing interesting to look at and I'm not a fan of turn based combat but I still try to like it. Persona 5 looks awesome I'm planning to buy it and force myself to like it like I did with Megaman Battle Network which I played the first 2 games and hated them but I bought the third and became a fan of the series to the point that my name comes from a secret boss of the third game.

Watch the Giant Bomb Persona 4 Endurance Run.

There's also movies of P3 and an anime series of P4 - the P3 movies are pretty good, the P4 anime, well, not as much.

The giantbomb endurance run of P4 is really popular. Not sure if there is a great LP for P4G.

As long as we get P5, SMT V, a new spin-off (#FE doesn't count) or a sequel to a previous spin-off (or both), and possibly P6 at the tail end of the gen then I'll be satisfied. They gotta get some mileage out of the the new engine.

I want a Raiden Kuzunoha game again :/ well not necessarily Raiden just something with that style of gameplay.

Shin Megami Rising: Raiden Kuzunoha's Revengeance.
I'm on board with that.

Ok.. I didn't intend that to be like that and for that I apologize. Thanks for pointing that out to me and I'll definitly be more mindful in the future.

Seriously, I was really bummed when I found this out too. It'd also have put his homophobia in a whole other light and greatly improved his character imo.

They got so close, they even recorded English VA for it! I can't help but wonder why it was cut, it must have been very late in development.
