Persona 5 Famitsu details

Like, actual non-bara, non-erotic stories written by gay men for gay men? I can't think of a single one.
I'm not into the yaoi manga scene since in the English side it's apparently very fractured and there isn't a real community to follow, but there are so many lesbian mangaka that there's literally a manga about being a lesbian writing yuri manga featuring real lesbian mangaka.

I have to imagine that there's a similar community of gay men writing gay books for gay audiences. In fact, I would think it'd be impossible that such a community doesn't exist.

Or of they become reformed over the course of the game, the Personas could evolve to reflect that. In later stories, Arsene Lupin worked to solve crimes. He could end up evolving into someone like Holmes.

Not that someone like that fits the themes of the game, it was just an example.

Oh yeah, we know nothing so far. It could go any way. Looking at P3 and P4 though, they generally evolved into "more important" mythological creatures. Like, the "relatively" obscure Konohona Sakuya evolved into Amateratsu, the highest God in shintoism.

Since we're in Picaresque though, not mythology, it really could go either way. Who knows what they have planned!

I dunno, I don't see many parallels between Arsene Lupin and Robin Hood. Sure, Lupin was known for doing some nice things every once in awhile, but he mainly stole for himself, not for the poor.

It could go either way, but I could see the evolved versions of the personas getting mythological, like going from Arsene to Loki, the trickster god.

That's what I think. It's going to be less about making connections between the Personas and more about reflecting the state of the characters in the late game versus the beginning.

Especially when you consider they're using figures rooted in reality. They're fictional, but it's not Pokemon. The old way wouldn't work for most of the personas if any at all.

The Witcher 3 was delayed more than twice, and they said much the same thing, "we need more time for polish!". That game is more than complete, it's chock full of content.

This happens with any game that gets delayed. I wouldn't freak out about this just because MGSV was an absolute mess. The odds lean more the other way: teams that get more time to complete what they need often put out a better product for it.

All that said, keep expectations in check. It's certainly too early to give in to illusions of grandeur and simply assume something's going to be better than games we've already played. We haven't played it yet! It's guaranteed fact that a certain percentage of any community isn't going to like the newest game in the series.

Yeah this freak-out that is somehow tied to the mgs5 disappointment is really strange to me. Like guys do you want to blame one guy, namely Hashino, when the game is not up to your standards or what?

God, this wait is already painful.

I would love it if "Summer 2016" turned out to be like Hollywood blockbuster season summer 2016 (i.e. Avengers 2 opened internationally back in April this year).
Let me wish!
I want this game sooooooo baaaaaaaad.

The editing is not perfect, but it'll hopefully do. The JPEG compression is strong with this one, which made it a little harder than expected.

Almost certainly but they don't want to spoil them most likely. There's got to be at least 2 more plus a navigator, imo.

Just a thought but I'm not sure I want a navigator this time around. I'd prefer to be able to use all characters in battle and I've always felt that the navigator's role could just be split between the party anyway.

Apparently the scans refer to Morgana as a guide. So she might just end up doubling as a navigator, rather than having a non-combat one.

More than likely she's the Teddie/Mitsuru equivalent, though they could shake things up and pull a reverse/flip of it, given that we've already seen her persona/her fighting.

edit:

This is the quote. 'pulling a kojima', is what i thought meant everything people have to say about Phantom pain and it's state in the fan community and not his tendency to delay things indefinitely. If you want to say they want to similarly going to perfect their respective games then i could get that, if those really are your only things that fit that description. I mean the notion isn't new is it? Games get delayed why shoe horn such a fact to a personality?

Oooooh.

Honestly wasn't referring to the 'unfinished' nature of MGSV at all, lol.

Was just that Kojima's done it on several occasions for adding in new things/polishing.

This is probably Atlus most ambitious game since SMT3, they are being extremely cautious with this. R&D1/P-Studio has an amazing track record, the delay sucks but these guys have more than earned our patience.

Yeah. It's hard to imagine they give up the role, but I haven't seen any indicator of a navigator. Ryuji, Morgana, and Anne are our first party members with no indication of any other to help with navigation.

You good sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Got that last one on my phone. Thank you!

I hope we just straight up run without a navigator until the dedicated navigator shows up. I've always disliked the "Well, this is a party member, but you can't use him/her because SOMEONE has to be navigator" thing that 3 and 4 did with Mitsuru and Teddie (though I didn't care as much in the case of the latter).

Zorro, Goemon, Captain Kidd, Carmen and Arsène Lupin as Personas in this game is probably the most bad ass collection in the series yet for me. Really amazed at Soejima's designs too.

The deaths of Captain Kidd (was betrayed by his friends and found guilty of murder and theft, after they hung him his first rope broke and he had to be hung a second time straight away), Carmen (her own lover killed her by stabbing her repeatedly) Goemon (after he failed to assassinate the Feudal lord Toyotomi Hideyoshi to avenge the death of his wife he was captured along with his son and they were both boiled alive) is some really macabre stuff indeed.

gulp

^Yeah, people were worrying this game wouldn't be dark before we got any trailers saying we'd have another happy, upbeat Persona like P4, but if those Personas back stories are anything to go by...gulp indeed.

All this bara talk is making me want a bara-type character in Persona 5.

Well, if Kitagawa is as much like Jun from P2 as he seems to be in his character design then...

Actually, it seems the opposite. He seems to have a deep voice with a masculine way of speaking if I remember right.

Im the only one who doesnt see the super dark people are seeing?

Theres always dark themes in Persona games, doesnt mean the games cant be upbeat. In fact, this game looks more upbeat (thankfully) than P3. P4's background is also dark, but the game is ubpeat thanks to its characters and how it tells its story. P5 seems a little less upbeat, but you have still characters wanting to have fun being thiefs in a cool way (the jazzy soundtrack, the pulpy characters, the fun cat mascot...).

There are more allusions to Persona 2 than to any other Persona game so far. Which definitely was darker in theme than Persona 4 and arguably Persona 3.
That being said though, I don't think anyone doubts that there will be upbeat moments in the game. Even Persona 1 and 2 had comical moments in them.

It was a joke.

Persona 1's easily the lightest of the Persona games though.

Really liking everything I hear about the game. The personas being famous robbers is awesome.

Lol, you never know when my art is going to appear on a Persona thread. Glad people still like it.

Awesome piece! I've never seen it before. Although I don't know enough about the Doo-verse to know who Rise, Naoto, and Kanji are supposed to be.

Yeah, this isn't mainline Shin Megami Tensei we're talking about here or anything, but it's definitely on the same track as Persona 2, there'll still be plenty of the charm we've come to associate with the series for sure (which P2 also had; Eikichi is one of the funniest/goofiest Persona characters in the series after all), but it's definitely framing a story that's darker than P3 and P4, that's for sure.

Now that I actually read the Famitsu interview, it doesn't sound so bad. The game systems and stuff seem quite good.
The only thing so far for me is that none of the characters are really doing any thing for me.
And also I wish it didn't take 6+ months delay to 'polish' the game.

Tbh the more I think about it the more the delay hurts. Star Ocean 5 is coming out before this game. Part of the reason I was so hyped is because it was going to be the first big next-gen JRPG.

I'm hoping this extra time allows them to polish up the PS4 version as much as possible. They haven't elaborated yet as to the differences between the versions.

Both are just going to be resolution bumps from their last-gen versions. FF15 is probably going to be the first big next-gen JRPG.
