What is it with the Japanese being such Francophiles. They really do love the French over there.

Anime was already a thing in France as early as late 70's, early 80's. When I was a very small kid (like 3 or 4), some cartoon collaborations between french and japanese studios were already airing (I'm 39 now). An entire generation of 30, 40 something grew up with japanese cartoons. And I think France is the second market in the world in terms of manga sales...

That UI is terrible. It's so chaotic and takes too much screen space. Every time the MC went past a character in the city, that stupid splotch of inky-text pops up.
Maybe they're going for the crazy and out-of-control visual to emphasize the wacky cast, I don't know, but it's much too busy for me.
Well that's like just your opinion man

First person I've ever seen say this game has terrible UI. Oh well. :\

I personally think it's gonna spoil UI design for every other video game from here on out for me. There's NOTHING that really looks like P5's graphic design out there.

really stylish

but i daresay dead space's ui is better

The stories and main characters are all different, but there have been references to previous entries through a couple continuous characters, but you will be absolutely fine just jumping in now.

You can jump into any game but Persona 2 Eternal Punishment.

Awesome. Thanks for letting me know. Really excited to try this out since a bunch of folks I know have been raving about the series for ages.

You think so? Lol there's always something i don't know lol
Though it doesn't seems like Ryuuji is replying directly to Morgana (also what is he saying, he goes "tsuu ka sa/tsukasa, nakanaka---" but i can't hear the rest) , more like the usual mash-up of lines from the same scene :/

"Tsuu ka saa, nakama ga fuetan da ne?" commenting that they gained another party member, and Morgana says that she seems like she'd be useful, specifically saying probably more useful than whoever she's responding to (which in this case I'm pretty sure is Ryuuji, who she calls a punishment game monkey whose desires are always completely exposed).

A better look at the battle commands menu.

[Gun] probably leads to the commands on the right.

This is probably Assist in action, though I don't know if you can control for range or melee.

I found another victory results screen, this one more static and typical. Not sure how the two types will be used in game.

Calendar passage screen.

I didn't gif it, but scrolling around the inside of the red box is probably the 'world map'.

Zone maps from city areas. You can guess at the types of shops and goods available based on the icons shown. No more Junes! (maybe)

I gotta say it's a joy seeing all those new demon assets. Surely they aren't keeping those to just Persona 5.

So, let's review the new characters:

There's...

  • The red-haired hacker girl who I assume is the support character (ala Rise)
  • Then there's the badass dark brown haired chick whose persona is a fricking motorcycle
  • Then there's the light brown haired girl who has a French motif
  • And finally there's a new male party member in the black and white striped tie

Adieu girl haircut reminds me of Clementine, the main character from a 80's french cartoon series (for kids, but super dark, she was in a wheelchair, went to hell and even committed suicide in an episode)

Ammo count? Different bullet types then, but it's interesting that they might be limited by amount and you can always just do regular bullet damage.

I've never seen a UI so seamlessly integrated into the art direction of a game before. It's all so stylish. And the gameplay looks pretty seamless as well.

Any guesses on the new characters' personas? I'm guessing adieu girl has Robin Hood based on her appearance. But what kind of thief character would be a motorcycle...?

They just keep making the japanese cast of this game more and more amazing, I can't take it, lol. Just Nana, FukuJun, Miyano and Otani at first were already all-star team of talent, and now we're getting Yuuki Aoi as the chuu2 navigator girl, too! Plus Saori Hayami really delivering some good lines there on her 'bishoujo kaitou' act, lol.

Loved everything in this. The game's looking fantastic, the dungeons seem like an incredible step up from P3/P4 and it seems like all the delays really have been used to polish it up and pack a ton of content. I can't wait to play it.

Now I've gotta go bug Atlus USA everyday for them to not ruin it and have the japanese voices avaible. I don't even care if it's DLC, I'll buy it, but... please, it's 2016, guys.

I don't think I'm right, but my first thought was the Scarlet Pimpernel for Ms. Fab Thief (I guess her axe is kinda like a guillotine)? Users on r/megaten were pointing out The Three Musketeers, too.

Why Robin Hood when she's clearly French? Way more likely to be a musketeer.

Also Fubata's persona is Necronomicon so being a thief isn't a requirement.

Wow. This game is absolutely beautiful.

Everything is ridiculously seamless. If this all makes it into the final game, it will go down as the most stylish game ever. Never seen such detail on menus/reward screens etc.
