Persona 5 - PV 04 [New Trailer]

Just want to say how much I like the masses of blank slate npcs, as opposed to the handful of equally detailed NPCs in past games. Game is supposed to be in Tokyo, it's fucking crowded, sacrificing that feel for more detailed NPCs would be a mistake IMO. In Inaba maybe you can have a handful of people on the street and get away with it.

I like how Igor looks more evil with each entry, but never is.

So I just watched that trailer and it looked pretty great to me. The kicker is that I've never played a Persona game before. So if I were to jump into P5 would I be totally lost in a sense or is it somewhat approachable for new players in terms of the lore and all that?

You don't have to, but you really should. P4 is an amazing game.

So yeah. I'm buying a PS4 in order to play this game. Unless it ends up coming to PC of course. How does one even create a video game with so much fucking style? The music is incredible as well. I'm almost at a loss for words. Super hyped though and that new navigator-looking goddess? Cutie pie.

I'm actually interested in playing this game. It looks so ridiculously stylish and cool.

I haven't played a RPG since FF 10 and 12. Guess I kinda grew out of them, but I'm willing to give Persona 5 a shot. I looks almost like playing a well-produced anime.

So never played a Persona game before. Where should I start? (note, I don't have a vita)

3 and 4 are good starting points. Keep in mind it might be tough to go back to 3 after 4, but a lot of people do that because 3 didn't click with as many people until after they played 4.

I like the party but I kind of feel that there's too many "joyful" characters. I expected the 9nth character to be like, the mature/serious boy from the group (kind of Shinji or Kanji), but it seems he won't be like I wanted.

I wonder if navigator girl will join in battle at some point. I kind of feel they might pull a Rise in here and give her persona a battle mode.

Everything looks amazing. My only hope is that you can save more often than in older games. Gaming time has become so limited.

Yusuke and Biker-girl seem to be the more serious characters in the group.

That's interesting.... does it take place chronologically after 4 or something?

I'd actually love to see the option for helping other characters also get into romantic relationships. Like, Mitsuru + hall girl in P3, or Naoto + Kanji in P4. If you aren't going to take someone, don't let them go to waste!

Persona 5: Shipping Festival

Oh man, social links for other characters that also affect MC would be amazing. Just go straight up Fire Emblem relationships, but with everything connected to the protagonist.

OHHHH YESSSS!
Read in Mettaton from Undertale's voice, if you know him, lol.

I woke up this morning and wasn't feeling like getting out of bed. Until I remembered Persona 5. I instantly sprang up and went to watch this trailer, and it was glorious, let me tell you!

This game honestly looks like it has the best anime styled cel-shading I've ever seen, everything is amazingly gorgeous! The music is amazing! The dungeons look so varied, fast paced, and engaging! Everything looks like a quantum leap from Persona 3 and 4! It honestly makes the game seem extremely modern and next gen! Your game doesn't need to have real time combat and open worlds, it just needs to ooze style from all corners and take no prisoners!

Really, I cannot wait for E3 and hopefully a release date announcement! I need that collector's edition to come over here. Does anyone know exactly what it has (besides an art book, obviously). Are the discs a soundtrack? If so, I really, really hope we get it in the US. I guess the CE of Tokyo Mirage Sessions was unchanged besides some radio show extra stuff on the discs that they decided not to subtitle, right? I hope since this game is getting an English dub, if they have that kind of thing in the Japanese CE that we get it in English too!

I'm also excited to see how varied the daily life will be it seems. An airplane trip someplace? I wonder if they are going out of country, maybe to see Ann's grandparents in America?

It looks so so so good.

I need it.

Edit:

Is short haired biker girl's art up yet? Wanna make that my avatar :x

Yeah, all of the party members look great. The short haired girl looked very badass. I thought the hacker looking girl with long hair was in the bikini though. I would have maybe liked first seeing them in the game, but maybe there are even still some party members kept secret. Was anyone kept secret with P3 or P4? I feel like
Naoto/Teddy
must have been, at least the latter in some special capacity because of
his human form
.

Oh, BTW, Horizon. Before you change your avatar... Who's in this new one?

Sexualizing of minors and the return of the calender system aside (both of which are not surprising), everything looks and sounds great, even the new Japanese voice actor for Igor. The aesthetics are easily the best i've seen from the series.

Also: Acknowledging Persona 1, Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment? What spore of madness is spreading over at ATLUS?!

Also also: I don't know if this has been brought up before in this thread but is that Yu and Adachi from Persona 4? Looks like it.

Is that Vincent from Catherine? It's hard to tell given the lighting and angle.

I didn't word that very well.

For some people (like me) Persona 3 almost felt like a rough draft of 4. I played through 3 when it came out and enjoyed it, but I had some big problems with it (single tall dungeon being my main complaint) that made me not as hyped for 4. Then 4 came out and it became one of my favorite games ever.

I know a few people that tried 3, weren't huge fans and stopped like 10ish hours in or something, played 4 and loved it, then went back to 3 and enjoyed it but wish they had played it before 4. Confusing, I know.

I must be blind then because I don't see any of them.

Oh hey, I'm not too fond of the idea of the NEO, but the game already looks phenomenal, so do you suppose a NEO mode could inch in 60fps?

Oh yeah, I guess Uncharted 4 reviews are up, cool w/e lol.

These two guys (possibly Yu and Adachi), same picture cropped:

I admit I could be wrong about Vincent but these two bear an uncanny resemblance to the two of them.

When it comes to "Vincent" are you talking about the guy behind the bar? Cause that's the MC. and no, it really doesn't look like Yu or Adachi

Most people are guessing the PS4 port could be 1080p/60fps, people have to remember this is a PS3 game. It's realistic to expect it to run fine on current gen hardware.

I suppose, if Yu suddenly had black hair. Adachi guy just looks like a generic younger guy in a suit to me as well.

He's talking about the two NPC eating at the table which seem to reuse part of Yu and Adachi's 3D models.

I guess one guy has Yu's haircut, but that's it. the other guy don't remotely looks like Adachi and the guy behind bars is certainly the MC

that being said I have no doubt we'll see some old characters in the game somewhere somehow.

Catherine for Devil's arcana believe :D

Do you think it is possible to follow the story of Persona 5 without having played any of the previous games? I'm a bit concerned the lore is very dense for new players.

Persona 3 & 4 are very long PS2 games and I don't really have the time or inclination to play through them first.
I hope it is possible to jump into Persona 5 as someone new to the series without being completely lost.
