Persona 5 Trailer 2

qx5UTpi.gif

Shit eating grin and this.

And yay Norn is back in her full HD glory. But I'm pretty sure Norn is normally a mid to late game demon in most (if not all?) Megami Tensei games. Maybe they're just getting us hype.

He has quite a range of emotions.
I don't see why the trailer leaking is a bad thing or why Atlus is trying to take it down. Won't work anyway. Hype for P5 is GOOD

P4DAN will sell on its own merits

it's supposed to be a special video to P4DAN owners. Obviously it was going to leak but Atlus is going to try and stop it.

I'm going to agree that this was a bit disappointing. Too much reused and animated footage and stuff. At least some of the new footage reinforces the idea that the dungeons will be much better than what we saw in P3 and P4.
That 2015 NA release date isn't lookin very likely though, despite how much they keep reinforcing it. The fact that we still don't have a JP release date at this point is worrying me.

Now that I think about it... I don't think I ever fought Norn since she is always(?) special summon
You always need Atropos, Lachesis, and Clotho.
but she had a major role in Strange Journey and she was the Ultimate Persona of the Fortune Arcana on Persona 3 / 4...

Quick and dirty translation of the voiced narration:

Voice: What's wrong? Are you just going to watch?
Voice: Was that a mistake?
Voice: Heh, that's right. That's as it should be. I am you, you are I.
Voice: For the sake of the justice you believed in, make the blasphemers repent!
Voice: Now, begin!

At the end of the trailer:

Voice: We will meet again... at the moment your destiny has been determined. Hahahaha!
For the battle sequence voice snippets:

MC: Persona (obviously, lol)
Anne: I'm not going to hold back!
Morgana: It's time for me to show my stuff!
Ryuji: I'm fired up!

Ryuji's lines can be translated in a number of different ways because of the words he says but I did one based on context, that I think might work, lol
Much obliged. Thanks.

Holding a trailer to your most anticipated game ever ransom to another game's special edition that is exclusively distributed in one country is just incredibly stupid. Atlus is shitting on its international fans only to make a couple extra bucks in Japan. I hope they realize that this kind of behavior just doesn't work anymore these days. Shit leaks anyway and we're living in a globalized world, where half of the fanbase isn't located in Japan.

They want breathing space for P4D. That's why they even put this trailer in with the game in the first place. Now that their marketing is done for that, you should see more info about P5 get out there.

They'll put out an official trailer in a while or so. I don't disagree that the whole idea of having an exclusive trailer that can be uploaded to the internet is a stupid idea, but I also don't think it's worth getting upset over.

My gut feeling is that Persona 5 was done development for a good few months. Atlus USA is probably wrapping up translations, proceeding to QA now.

Partly because there's always a very short turnaround between marketing blitz to release for Atlus; partly because I think they're holding off P5 until P4:DAN:CE releases (it was delayed).

Unfortunately, Atlus doesn't realize, or more and likely doesn't care.

They need to adapt, because every other mid-range to large Japanese developer has.

Considering that, I would not be surprised if there is discord between USA and Japan's offices, considering the run around the head offices love to play with USA and especially Europe.

was hoping for more gameplay. but im still on board. eu release in 2015 seems more and more unlikely. i mean they still dont have a solid release date for japan just the vague 2015 announcement.

Neva played Persona.

But now I want to. Seems like a neat little RPG.

I'm surprised by how many fans there are on GAF.

It's worth your time. Check out Persona 4 Golden or Persona 3 Portable. Other versions are also fine.

Fortunately we can just import it.

Considering they managed to get Persona Q (a few days) and Ultimax (a month) out in Europe, I do have high hopes considering this is a mainline Persona title for it to come out at the same time.

Though the PS3/PS4 are both region free, so eh.

I admit that it is kind of weird how much gameplay, trailers and info about #FE we have compared to P5 and we know that P5 is bigger for them...

Maybe they are saving their big guns for later... my bet is a September release for Japan and November for a USA release.

I'd say it's more likely our painting character is an ally than an enemy. Words like "Never give in" sound more like the words of a rebellious teen thumbing their nose at the system rather than a villain.

Who knows though. Could go either way.

Please please please please please give us a 2015 release pleaaaaaase.

Who am I kidding it's gonna be December 31st 2016 in Japan and then fall of 2017 for US. :(

They better, because if they aren't, then they are going to be a lot of angry fans.

And it won't release in November in the US. It'll get slaughtered. It's either October alongside Japan, or December.

While your language is a little strong, I don't disagree.

Atlus Japan's model is so outmoded for the modern, global standard of publicity.
It's kind of silly. What's next, Persona 5 pre-order costumes exclusive to Famitsu magazine?
They need to have a more international focus when it comes to publicity, marketing and content.

Another reminder that Atlus is one of the last Japanese companies left that don't allow dual audio in their titles, to the point where they strong-armed Arcsys out of their own dual audio standard.

It's also in the same style as the previously-shown OP footage, and immediately afterwards it shows four quick older shots of the other known party members' OP scenes.

Pretty sure it's a character intro from the OP.

I didn't follow the Persona Q release so I didn't know that!
Stop giving me hope for a timely EU release. Although I have no problem with importing i'd much rather support local releases.

Was expecting more. Id have lived my life just fine if I missed this trailer. Unlike the last P5 gameplay reveal trailer where I wouldn't have.

Don't get mad, just look at their marketing push in their past games where they REALLY focus on the games close to release and then continue with the next... it happened when Persona Q was about to release and people were asking for Persona 4 DAN, now that Persona 4 DAN is releasing they are going to really focus on Persona 5.

I'm going to believe in artsi that the release date for Japan is going to be announced in one Famitsu issue like they did on their previous games...

So confused by that trailer. Can't wait though.

I'm guessing the main character will undergo some sort of a "trial" for himself unlike P4 protagonist.

Man the anime cutscenes are soooo much better now than they were in P3 and P4.

<3 Production I.G.
Yes, that's the most obvious improvement over the last two games. In P3 and P4 they were mostly kind of embarassingly stiff and pulled you out of the game. Now they've reached a level where I feel they might really contribute to the worldbuilding and atmosphere.

On an unrelated note, I like the cat's voice much better than Teddy's.

I hope you're right about that. Seeing another one of my most hyped titles for this year be delayed to 2016 yet again would be kinda upsetting.

The trailer wasn't even bad, it's just the fact that we still don't have a release date coupled with the fact they set the bar too high with the first one that made it seem a little underwhelming.

In the brief overhead shot of the casino you can see a big neon sign that says DEATH TO THE LOSER (EDIT: Or is it DEATH FOR THE LOSER? My eyes are shit)

Here, take a look

Yep, I'm pretty sure that's a dungeon, maybe even first one.

Same as the rest of the trailer, mobs are casino security guards etc.

From what I can see, it looks like P5MC is touching or holding his mask when he summons his Persona? I wonder if that is going to be the new summoning method? Not bursting into flames or actually morphing?

Yep. If I was John Hardin, I'd be livid. The way Atlus JPN absolutely screws over fans not present within their borders is not sustainable. The only reason why they seem to have little criticism despite this fact is because the games are so good. If this was Capcom or Square doing this, and they dropped a turd, GAF would be in a hellfire. But yet, Atlus never gets said criticism.
