It's been a while, PersonaGAF! I just hit December in P4G, and it warned me that DRAMATIC EVENTS are gonna be starting soon!

So yeah, this is the part where the decisions you make affect the ending right? Is there a decent guide anywhere on how to get the best possible ending? I'm not too good with these kinds of things. >_<

Some advice, minor gameplay spoilers:
The bad endings are pretty obvious. As long as you don't overwrite your save game file with a Cleared Save, you can always go back and try again. Do try to finish Marie's social link before the end of the December dungeon tho, or you'll miss out on some stuff new to Golden.

I just finally beat Persona Q by setting the game to baby mode and reviving every time the final boss killed me. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and I'm glad I did it for the characters and the map making; but it's convinced me I don't need to give Etrian Oddesy a go. Ever.

Also, started a new game plus to see the Persona 3 side and Gakky and Akky's fighting is adorable.

I think it depends who's portraying him. Soejima's art always has him portrayed as pretty masculine.

He pretty much says that in the official design works

Soejima said:
"For the Protagonist’s design, I went for a wild guy with a slightly bad attitude, something that isn’t part of the ‘young man’ archetype often used for main characters.

...

"I wanted him to be very different from the Protagonist of ‘P3’. The Protagonist of ‘P3’ was very cute and shy, so I made the Protagonist for ‘P4’ more masculine and wild. I think I was pretty successful in making them polar opposites of each other, and that’s one reason why the ‘P4’ Protagonist is one of my favorites. Another reason is because I have to draw more variations of the Protagonist than any other character. I especially like the ones where he has a confident smile on his face."

...

"I designed Izanagi to be as manly as possible, a real ‘man’s man’. (laughs) As much as I wanted to pour all of that masculinity into the Protagonist himself, I felt it would be a bit too cliche if I made him look too much like a Japanese school cheering squad member. The design of his Persona, however, provided me with the opportunity to go a bit overboard"

Jesus, I can't wait until we get our hands on the P5 design works.

Dang it, just watch: We'll get to the end of P5, lose most of our HP, and then Detective Yu Narukami is going to show up at the end and defeat the final boss.

And steal our social links

And discover the truth

And steal the hearts or whatever.

Calling it now: People are going to get their hopes up too high for the Acid Jazz stuff. I'm sure there'll be influences of it, but it'll definitely still be that same type of sound that nearly everything Meguro does has.

No worries, I was mostly joking with that post. That said... even speaking as the #1 Narukami gaf fanboy, I don't think things would go down that simply.

You and I both know it would be more intense than that.

Gay porn while Sho slits his wrists in the corner to linkin park with Chidori and Shadow Revolver Jesus quotes Nietzche to a fatally ODing Shinjiro?

Man P3 was so edgy at times.

Thats one thing that scares me. Meguro is great but he REALLY needs to change it up now. Hopefully we get a new sound

Meguro always has strong theming (which is usally completely different) as the forefront to an OST, and P5 will be no different.

Soul Hackers: Jazz (some cool, others cuban)

SMT3: industrial metal, ambience

DDS1: NWOBM, cool jazz

DDS2: filmic, heavily mixed metal

Raidoh 1: bebop, hard rock

Persona 3: J-Hop

Raidoh 2: more bebop, hard rock

Persona 4: J-pop

Strange Journey: nationalist marches and tribal

Think of it more like one man focusing his talent into different vessels.

To be fair he always had a very big acid jazz influence in his music anyway. I'd imagine that he'll just emphasize it a bit more. More blues styling, more funk as we can see from the bassline and wah guitar in the first song, probably more hip hop, all with his jazz influence.

Your genres are way off, but I agree.

But aside from Strange Journey, they all sound very 'Meguro-ish'.

That's fair to say, but I think he's been getting further and further away from sounding video game-y on his more recent games, and the admittedly small sliver of P5 that we've heard seems to continue that trend.

I think that just depends on how heavy the guitar usage is in a particular work. The heavier ones sound more "Meguro-ish"

With the aesthetic and themes of P5 I'm going to be very disappointed if the battle music isn't punk rock as fuck

I'm totally expecting punk rock with backing vocals from Lotus Juice.

The thing is that's the lead genres (with a ton of other types of tracks, especially SMT3, Raidoh 2, and P4) and Meguro isn't one of those composers that exists "boxed in" to a certain genre; his talent is too free-roaming even in those labels (and I really had to reduce to get those names because of this).

Have you listened to any? It's right up Meguro's alley.

Like, the stuff already in Persona isn't far off.

The group Sophia's been listening to, "Brand New Heavies" is pretty good.

Definitely get Tribe. Definitely get Nujabes.

"Canned Heat" is a good song. No further Jamariqoui is necessarry.

Yeah, I've kind of settled on this. Not a problem with me though, I love Meguro's guitar work.

That said, the main theme hasn't done it for me yet. Seems weirdly basic.

I think that's just because it's missing vocals.

If the instrumental sounded tremendous on its own, we would probably speculate that the vocals are middling.

I want badly the heavy Meguro from Digital Devil Saga .....

But after see what the games is about i think Jazz fits , anything is better than JPOP from Persona 4 (and i like the p4 ost but still....)

PD: Talking about music ... why the frog the theme song of P3 Falling Down is not in the internet yet.
Seriously no one who buy that in the concert upload the song to tumblr , soundcloud or some weird shit...

If the Persona 5 sub boss theme doesnt sound like Hunting / Battle for Survival from DDS or Master of Tartarus from P3 , i gonna flip a table ... and continue playing anyway.

But seriously that the Meguro i want to hear ... the motherfucker who makes the battles even more epic than already are.

The battle theme of P5 is gonna be a catchy tone (same lyric over and over) like Mass Destruction , the p4 theme and the one of Persona Q thats for sure.

If the song of the trailer sounds so jazzy and that song gonna have vocals , makes me wonder who makes the vocals this time
The jazz vocalists always sounds too sexy ... and i love it.

Ok so I've just played through the first hour of the game up to the hospital. A few comments I have to say:

-Overworld looks massive so far, at least it loos larger than P3 and P4 (It took me a while to explore the school and to get to the hospital as well) which is nice but it also worries me that exploring everything will end up taking too much time.
-Combat mechanics are something I need to adapt to (thanks to PK Gaming's guide leveling up points distribution didn't confuse me so much among other things) like the grid on the floor and stuff like that, but so far I think I'm doing a good job.
-The beggining is much faster than the sequels (opening sequence, persona concept introduction, some story stuff and then bam! right down to business)
-This ain't a complaint or anything, just a random comment, but I though it was really funny how they go to the hospital, everything is just normal, and when the monsters show up and it's time to fight they're holding weapons...Mark is swinging a freaking axe! It was pretty funny when it appeared out of nowhere.

All in all the game is looking good, even though it has aged a lot, it doesn't bother me 'cause that's just how the game is and I adapted to it. Even though it's different to what I've experienced in the Persona series so far (I got introduced to it with Persona 3) I like it, just like two variations of chocolate flavored ice cream, they've got their differences but I love them both equally (though I do love all kinds of ice cream but let's leave it at that). Finally, the music is top tier, as always. Got to keep going! (random picture)

Are you playing the PS1 version? The PSP version actually made the overworld significantly smaller by refitting it for a 2D style P2/P3P style map. Actually makes me think the encounter rate is a bit too high, because you're covering much more space on the map.

God Persona 5 trailer really got me so back into the series again that I went and bought PQ last week and I'll be starting it soon.

How did everyone feel about PQ?

A bit late, but although the gameplay is different it really captures the Persona essence. I haven't completed it, but I find it really enjoyable so far. Most of the characters except for Akihiko and Teddie stay true to their originals and the writing is pretty good. There are some fantastic scenes!

So, I just read a few pages back. I want to let everyone know that I have pre-ordered the February issue of Persona Magazine. So, whatever you want me to do, I'll do, as long as it's allowed.
