It might be fake, but it doesn't look like it.

Whoa.

If it's not fake, I think that's the trailer protag wearing a different get-up (not Sho). Wonder if the game has a Jekyll/Hyde type mechanic. Wimpy bookish dude by day, weird magician by night.

School kids by days, superheroes by night. Masked vigilantes of the shadow world, seeking a thrill from the mundane, oppressive slog of Japanese education.

I mean, that's what I'm guessing. Note the difference of expression between commuting MC and masked, ready-to-kick-ass MC. He's so into it.

So the new Persona will be a toku show. Sounds great.

I kinda feel for the guy. He's constantly getting shit for his dad's shop, his love interest turns out to have hated and used him but he can't shake the feelings he has for her, then she gets murdered! Sure, he has a certain naivety but he's always supportive, at least attempts to keep up a good mood and it's nice to see him yuck it up with Teddie later in the story.

I'm not saying he's a character with Oscar caliber writing, just a cool dude that's very likeable. At least to me.

Also, nurses.

Yup, he's also the biggest driving force in the IT until Naoto joins. People tend to overlook the fact that he's much smarter than Junpei.
Saying that he has less personality is completely ridiculous.

Damn it, it's too early for me to get hyped. I hope that poster isn't fake.

T-that actually sounds fucking awesome.

"the phantom" like the phantom of the opera? maybe the game is related to theatre/opera? I don't know, like a school side-activity where the characters find that through acting they can be someone else than who they are in real life and they awaken their personas. Could explain the "free from shackles" thing Atlus anticipated

I love Yu, but it's actually refreshing to see the protagonist with such an expression. We'll see.

Do you guys think we'll get a full blown several minutes gameplay video like the previous games or is Persona too mainstream for that now and we'll just get a dumb teaser that will ask us to wait for E3?

I still think it's a Phantom of the Opera reference more than anything.

However, the lettering reads like a ransom note, and the the theme song is "Take Your Heart", which could imply someone stealing your heart or you taking it back.

Actually, I'm getting more of a Joker vibe (Joker as in P2 Joker) from this. Looks antagonistic, but that definitely looks like the guy we saw in the first trailer.

Whoa.

EDIT: Translation:

At the bottom left: "Persona 5 begins"

Looks similar, but I could buy that it's the MC instead.

Not sure how I'd feel if sho was in Persona 5. On the one hand, his motivations and emoness in P4A2 were absolutely trash, on the other hand I actually didn't hate his personality.

That is NOT Sho.

so does that mean yukari will be coming back or what

I'm not really sure what to think about this...

Why would she be back?

after playing as a cool protagonist in yu, atlus decides to do a 180 and let players be Tuxedo Mask, a useless piece of shit

Then the final boss fight has Yu turn up in a sailor moon costume and defeat the enemy single handedly after your party loses.

Why would she be back?

She plays a toku-sentai character in Phoenix Ranger Featherman on TV as of persona 4 ultimate, so a cameo wouldn't be a surprise.

I was expecting something more similar to Persona 4 in tone given its success. Might be a little too early to judge it though. Excited for tomorrow.

So ive been asleep since the conference began, I work nights ;( Did I miss anything Persona 5 related or anything super special?

Isn't his hair a different color from Potter-kun? Maybe they're going for a Clark Kent/Superman kinda theme with his initial appearance.

That's just Soejima art with harsh colours. The hair is just a hue of red, makes sense since the colour of this game is red.
