Phantom Dust announced [Xbox One]

PD is his favorite. Its on record that hes been fantasizing about a sequel for years. He won't fuck this up.

PD...Panzer Dragoon or Phantom Dust? You're gonna have to be more specific since they both purposefully have the same initials. :P

And I dunno. Even if Phantom Dust is his favourite, why would that stop him from making a good Panzer Dragoon spiritual successor? Still, I have faith that he can't screw up an enhanced remake.

so happy ken lobb posted this video i wish more of microsoft guys like (Major,Phil) would retweet it would help immensley.

I remember watching that video ages ago. Really cool retrospective.

Just watched a gameplay of this game on youtube, and I think I can be confident about this one being a great game! On the 1st Xbox this game was graphically very decent, and with lots of scenario destruction! Cant wait to see how this one will turn out being on Xbox One!

I thought XB1's KI is just a reboot/remake, not KI 3, or at least that's what MS is selling:

Personally, I don't use "reboot" and "remake" interchangeably. The new Killer Instinct is a "reboot" because it is built from the ground up and is functionally a new game (the same way the new Tomb Raider is a reboot). A "remake" is recreating an older game with new graphics and maybe some additions (I'd consider the new Grim Fandango, the new Oddworld, or the Gamecube's Resident Evil all remakes).

Now the specific word Major Nelson used was "remaster" which is a little vaguer, but that's what they describe the Halo Anniversary games as so there's some context for it being an update to the old game as opposed to a full on new thing. That's why I think it's more accurate to call it a remake. This is all really semantics in some sense, but I do think the distinction between a game being rebooted like KI, and a game being remade like say MGS: Twin Snakes is important.

I dunno, after Crimson Dragon ended up being mediocre I'm not sure I can trust him to make a great game. It is a remake though and hopefully they learned their lesson after CD.

I'd rather have the person who created Phantom Dust leading/backing this new entry, than a completely different studio/staff which had no tie with the original team

Of all the games I have created so far, Phantom Dust is my favorite. Microsoft owns the IP, so if Microsoft would say they want to do it, I’m ready to jump on board immediately. I’ve already got ideas for a sequel in mind.

He's ready mayne!

Crimson Dragon seems like it's a perfect example of development hell.

I also love how phil spencer said Phantom dust was ahead of it's time and it should of probably been a game that came out today & him and Ken lobb used to play it together..basically what he said is people just need to play it then they'll understand why its coming back

I agree that it was ahead of its time. But I think part of the problem was the artstyle. It appealed massively to guys like me but turned off others at the time. I hope that ten years has made enough of a difference that people will accept it's visual style.

just the opposite for me, I loved the artstyle so much that I felt disappointed when they showed the trailer last monday. I really miss that artstyle :(

I wonder who the developer is. I mean of course the original creator is going to have a lot of say on what's going on with the project.

Adam Isgreen seems to be the one pushing hard for these great games to come back but it does help that more then one of the Microsoft guys are huge phantom dust fans lol

I wonder who developers are?

In the video Adam Isgreen 14:45 & up says the team they found to develop the game has ALOT of passion and they've been through alot & the other guy says and looks directly into the camera this is the most intense group of phantom dust players...sooo yeah im like foaming with excitement these guys are all hogging the MIC to talk about this game ive never seen so much hype via developers for a game lol

It's not totally unreasonable compared to what it was going before is it?

that's not up to date yet. If you look at completed listings of the game, the buy it nows got gobbled up, even ranging from $30-50. There's only a couple US versions left for auction, which will finish above what price charting shows as well.

I've got two copies already though. Might throw one on eBay if the prices are going crazy.

How much do you think I could get my for disc-only copy of Phantom Dust? As much as I love the game, I don't think I'll ever play it again.

Probably not that much. Complete copies prior to e3 were going for 10$ or under fairly regularly.

I sorta am curious to see whether MS use this title to really enter the online/CCG world. Personally, I wouldn't microtrasactions for packs of cards for spells or character customization as long as you could earn the packs through daily quests and regular play (ala Hearthstone).

I actually see this game being modeled after Heathstone in terms of card packs and such. I think it could do really well with that model and the amazing Phantom Dust gameplay.

"I wouldn't mind" is what I meant to say. I like playing a few games to complete a quest daily and then getting to try new decks and powers in the arena.

there's like 6 copies on US ebay right now. Your game will get interest, it's the best time to sell right now as the E3 buzz is still hot.

A disc only auction is going for $20 with days left.
