Picross e coming to North America 6/13, $5.99

Picross > > > Minesweeper > Sudoku

Slitherlink and Nurikabe are better than all three =P

But yeah, as awesome as picross is, why is this particular game so sought after? It looks like Picross DS and that was one of the worst renditions of picross in videogame history. Why is this one special?

I don't get it, just more Picross DS levels? At least try something different, like Picross 3D.

FOUR sequels later...

Day one.

Well, it's really only two sequels, not four. There's Picross e2 and e3, and Club Nintendo Picross isn't really something I'd call a sequel. Not sure where you're getting the idea that there are even four other 3DS Picross games to begin with.

i wonder if they're going to "announce" this tomorrow, lol

I kind of hope not, if only because I don't want Nintendo's E3 Direct to be spending time talking about these little things.

Dual lines? Is it what they think we want? If they want to incorporate new stuff they can add colours, bicolour tiles, or even triangle tiles! (just don't make colours as in color cross, their implementation was awful). There is so much that can be done to make an awesome Picross game.

And I demand 25x30 puzzles back.

Picross fans are spending their time on www.griddlers.net , massive amount of stuff over there.

?!

You're wrong, but I want to know why you say that.

I really wish there was some sort of zoom in function for the larger grids. I keep hitting the wrong spaces. I always restart if I make a mistake (same goes for Fire Emblem if a unit dies). Calibrating the touchscreen didn't work.

I've been having this issue too. Just gotta be extra careful, I guess. :(

I've never played Picross before. It's pretty addicting! I've only done the beginner puzzles and the first two rows of the normal mode, but I'm having loads of fun.

Yeah, haven't gotten there yet with most of my time being spent on Animal Crossing, but I think I might just use button controls on the larger ones.

I recommend playing with button controls. Seriously, it's much more precise.

I'm just about done with the Normal puzzles and this thing is never really difficult. I hope the next two volumes have some more difficult puzzles in them. Still, it was a fun time and a cheap game and I love Picross.

I'm finding the last one on normal hard as fuck without guessing.

Guessing is part of it though. Remember this, on 15x15 puzzles such as that one, if it has an 8 in it, you can etch out the 8th block. If it has a 9, you can etch out 7,8,and 9, guaranteed. 10, you can etch the whole middle set 6-10, and so on.

Can someone help me?

I'm playing this game and have no idea what the "II" characters represent. They look like "1's" but they sure as hell don't act like them, and the instructions don't say anything about them.

Wow...

That never occured to me. I just started playing 15x15 (having done all the 10x10 puzzles) and I totally wasn't expecting a number that high....

I feel like an idiot.

You'll be praying for more numbers that high as you progress!

Series of smaller chunks can be a massive pain on the larger grids. D:

Haha, and here I thought I was the only one who was tripped up the same way when I played my first Picross game (Mario's Super Picross).

I guess this is as good a place as any to bring this up.

Picross e2 is out this Thursday in NA apparently:

YESSSSSS.

Are there any Picross games that were released on 3DS that had puzzles that went to 25x20 like Picross DS had? All I remember is that the Club Nintendo Japan one had huge ones, but they were broken up into multiple individual puzzles.

I love Picross, but I'm really missing the larger/more challenging puzzles from these 3DS releases, even to the point that I might not even pick up e2 or e3 if they don't go above 15x15. :(
I still have Picross DS, so I can always go back to that for large puzzles too, I doubt I remember how to do any of them.

Is e2 better than e?

I was pretty disappointed by e. I cleared every level of puzzle in four hours less time than Mario Picross. I only got stumped by one 15x15 puzzle that took me a guess to solve.

^ Also, they need to color code their 11s haha. I think I solved a puzzle before I realized it wasn't saying 1 1.

I love puzzle games yet have no idea what Picross is. Which one is the coolest?

If you can find picross DS, it's hands down my favorite. Picross 3D is pretty darn good, too, albeit different mechanically.

I mean, the concept of the rules does not change from game to game, but the user interface is more approachable and functional in picross DS than it is in picross e. No game is a bad game though. :)

Also, I like that my 3DS has more eshop games than i have time to play now! It's great.

Okay, e2 came out today but I'm waiting for you guys to tell me that it's a better package than the first one, instead of just more puzzles.

I'm almost done with Picross e (4 more puzzles left in free mode). Did anyone do all of the first Picross e without any guessing? I was able to use logic for all of them but the current puzzle seems to require a guess. I'll have to revisit it again tonight.

I'm glad to hear that Picross e3 will be coming out in NA in Sept.
