i get that time moves on, each generation has it's own thing, and that's cool but i would argue that even though i was hooked to my gameboy it was a better experience than what kids today have. i mean, look at that photo and spot the difference...one kid is outside and one is not.

when i think of playing my gameboy as a kid it's mostly memories of being outside with it. sitting out in the garden, at the side of the road, in the park, walking to school, or in the school playground with my friends playing pokemon (and fighting/trading over a linkcable). i always had to make sure i had some spare batteries with me in my pocket or schoolbag because i was going to be out all day. kids on their tablets are mostly sitting inside where there is wifi. again if that's what kids are into today then fine but i think being outside with friends made all the difference.

My guess is that saying/thinking "Double Yew Tee Eff" takes more energy than saying "What the fuck" due to syllable counts. "Ell Oh Ell" or simply "lol" both roll off the tongue easier than "Laugh Out Loud". And our brains are considering whatd it take to speak it. Our brains are fantastic optimizers
