Pinball Hall of Fame - The Williams Collection for PS3 and Xbox360

Been trying to search the forum but the search-function didn't work for me the 10 times I've tried.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 201326592 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /var/gaf-sites/ga-forum.com/upload/search.php on line 1013

Anyway. I heard on the gamespot podcast that PS3/360 versions are being released this year and that it will contain some more tables than the earlier versions released. I've been searching the web for more information and screenshots but haven't found much.
Gamefaqs states that it is to be released in Q2 2009.

The information about the game on gamefaqs is probably exactly the same as for the older versions.

Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection faithfully recreates eight of the most memorable tables from the golden age of pinball in photorealistic 3D. Working closely with Williams to ensure authenticity of each of the games, the collection is highlighted by some of the most popular and innovative Williams pinball tables, including Gorgar, the first-ever talking pinball machine, Black Knight, which introduced "Magna-Save" and Bonus Ball, and Space Shuttle, which took the pinball industry by storm in 1984. Every table has been meticulously recreated to bring players the visuals, sound effects and gameplay that made these games legendary successes. Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection harkens back to the arcades of the1980 s. Players begin Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection with access to four pinball tables, and the remaining four tables are unlocked as the game progresses. Players can spend as little as two minutes on a quick pinball challenge, or delve deeper into the game, gaining rewards in a token-based system as they unlock each of the pinball tables. Single-player Arcade and Challenge modes provide hours of solo entertainment, and a Multiplayer mode lets players face each other head-on.

Personally I would like to see the entire game being released on PSN, but it seems it's disc-based. Hopefully there will be at least some tables downloadable on PSN.

Do any of you have any more information or maybe have even played an early version of the PS3/X360-versions?
Information seems to be very scarce.

Edit:
I've added the High-score list as requested to the OP.

I still have not this game, even though I started this thread...
But it's coming soon, ordered it from Axelmusic.com which made it affordable if you're living in Europe.

Not sure how often I'll be able to update the high-score list though.
I've just started a new job and also won the God of War III: Ultimate Trilogy Edition (signed by the developers) on the same day (today).:D

Your quote says it has more tables than the earlier releases, but says theres 8 tables; and reiterates it saying you start with 4 tables and unlock an additional 4.... that still doesn't even add up to the 10 that were on the previous releases of the Williams collection:

Black Knight
Jive Time
Space Shuttle
Firepower
Pinbot
Taxi
Funhouse
Sorcerer
Whirlwind
Gorgar

Yes, the math still works out if it doesn't have (for example; I haven't heard) 4 of the tables above but has two 'new' ones, but still...

I have it on Wii, and love it. Really pissed the Cyclone wasn't on it though. If they add the Cyclone along with better graphics I may rebuy. If they arent going to spruce up the graphics this should not be a disc release.

Most likely will buy, I love me some pinball. Though I would prefer a next-gen rerelease of Psycho pinball. :)

Riiiiiiiiiiide the Cyclone! I loved that machine. My friend has one that he has restored, so awesome.

Amazon.com dropped the price for the ps3 version to $32.49. Grab it so you can get the pre-order price guarantee. It was previously at $37. MSRP is $39.99 which is what the 360 version is at.

I have it on PSP and PS2, and would get it again for 360 but I really don't like the virtual arcade menu setup. I want a basic pick the table and then some info about the table and then play instead of walking around really bad 3D arcade. Just give me a simple menu.

You can pre-order the PS3 version at Newegg for $27.99 (free shipping). Couldn't pass that up.

anyone pick this up besdies me? Leaderbaords arent that large, im currently ranked Number 1 on a couple tables(could have changed since I stopped playing.) I had the PSP version but had to rebuy this one due to the added tables. Great game.

Got this today from Amazon, and been playing it for a good couple hours. The new tables are good, although I couldn't find a decent angle to play Arabian Nights and No Good Gofers with, which limits their fun factor. Medieval Madness is great. The others are much the same as on the Wii version, except they look nicer. Jive Time is still shit. Why they couldn't find a better EM machine to choose is beyond me, unless it was strictly rights issues at work. This game will likely be the only time I am ever in the top 5 of any online leaderboard, at least until some more people start playing.

Trophies are pretty weak; there is a trophy per game for placing on the high score list for each, one for beating the Challenge mode, and one for unlocking free play on every table. That last one is a gold, and there wasn't a platinum unless I missed it somehow. I thought they would tie trophies to the goals for each table, but that isn't the case. The camera angles are the same as the Wii version, just variations on a straight-on view.

Weird how the 360 version has proper achievments and full 1000G.

PS3 version has set a high score achievment for each table and not even platinum. Definetly a rush job on the PS3 side and extremely disapointing :(

I own an Arabian Nights table, my pride and joy :D

Never get tired of playing it, and it is one beautiful thing to look at and listen to.

Gamasutra.
Amazon says it has shipped a couple of nights ago. I'm hoping for Thursday delivery.

Disappointed to hear the PS3 version has some weak trophy support. I might actually have gotten platinum on this...

At least it sounds like the ports of the game itself is competent (with the usual complaints about cameras).

Only just caught this. Been wanting it on Wii for ages (PAL land in UK). Didnt have a clue it was coming out on next gen. Caught the IGN review and saw a comment for Arabian. Thought to myself na they aint added Arabian nights surely to the HD one but yep its true. Went on ebay to buy it then saw the box. Nooo cant be not my beloved medieval madness. Checked review again and freaked and ordered it. :lol

Sounds odd but I used to own some pinball tables. Started with STNG and Theatre of Magic. Then got to replace em (as bought and sold on) TSSP and Twilight Zone. I eventually made it to the one I always wanted which was Medieval Madness (and got LOTR to go with it). Serious health problems meant I had to sell them cas I couldnt sit up on a stool and play em anymore. Missed MM everyday since and always hoped we would get a descent home version (pinmame is ok at a push but nothing amazing).

Now my life is complete I can play MM laid down in bed. :lol

I just want to buy it over here in the UK. It seems to be a piss-poor first time launch for Crave Entertainment on current gen consoles. No information, and even refusing to respond to questions regarding a release outside of America. I'm sick of this discrimination that they are allowed to show - NO games should be region locked, and if made available to one set of English-language speaking gamers, should be likewise for all other gamers. It's not fair.

I was really looking forward to this game as well, being a huge piball fan. Oh well, when I do buy a PS3 I guess I'll buy it second-hand for that console - I don't want to give Crave ANY profits if they want to screw me, as a UK gamer, over.

Sweet Jesus...I'm definitely all over this.

I already own this on PSP. PinBot and Funhouse alone made it an instant get regardless of the other tables on it. Medieval Madness though means I'll have to have this game a second time. Such an awesome machine.

I just got this for 360 and I'm mostly loving it so far. My one main issue with it is that there's apparently no way to view the leaderboards with a friends filter. Huhhh? It kinda ruins the game for me since the main reason I got it was to compete with my friends for high scores. I wonder if they could patch this in?

Also some of the camera angles are just ridiculous. There's no way to actually SEE the Arabian Nights skill shot as you're doing it, for example. And this is kinda nitpicky, but I hate how the camera follows the ball when you do a catapult shot in Medieval Madness, making it impossible to change FIRE to an empty lane in time for the ball to trigger it. This will make it much more difficult than it already is to get to the video mode.

tsss, I've had the European Wii version pre-ordered ever since it was released in the US and it kept being pushed back.
Now that the date is again only a month or so away, I see this.

Cancelled my pre-order and will wait for the PS3 version instead.
Hell I'll get the US version if I don't have a firm date by Christmas.
Thank God region free PS3!

I gave up with it on Wii. Remember trying to buy it around March on PAL last time. No need now that its got more tables on PS3. Thank feck PS3 is region free for everything over me 360 :lol

Any collection of Williams Pinball tables is incomplete without Rollergames.

That said, I bought the Wii version for my father over a year ago, and he seemed to enjoy it. I would assume that the PS3/360 versions would be every bit as fun for a casual gamer....although the camera angles weren't perfect. I just wouldn't buy it for full-price, especially if they lowered the number of available tables.

The thing is, the Wii version is the best simulation of real pinball, for the simple reason that you don't have to use your thumb to tilt the table. This always results in your left or right trigger finger becoming less responsive. Also, it's very hard to do a "subtle" nudge on the table when you use the analog stick in the midst of a game.

In the Wii version, tilt is accomplished just like on a real table. Subtle movements left, right and forward work great. More jarring movements in those directions really slam the table. It almost seems like it recognizes about three different velocities in those directions.

I'd love an HD version of this, but much like Tiger Woods, I can't imagine buying this for my 360 as the Wii controls make the game. I hope they eventually release the new tables for the Wii...

Never mind, I just realized this can be remedied by using one of the fully zoomed out views. For some reason I thought I noticed it still following the ball when in the zoomed out view but I was wrong.

I couldn't find a copy at any of the stores in my area so I ordered from Amazon. I made the mistake of free super saving shipping, and it seems like they are deliberately waiting a week to ship it. Infuriating.

I hope they do a Bally collection some day.

Addams Family
Twilight Zone
Theatre of Magic
Creature From the Black Lagoon
Mata Hari
Eight Ball
Xenon
Centaur
Spectrum
Cirqus Voltaire
Attack From Mars
Scared Stiff
Cactus Canyon
Dr. Dude
Fathom

So many great tables to choose from.

Well that's true. I love the Gotlieb collection for those reasons.

The tilt is much much more accurate than the motion controlled version on the Wii. It also seems to have more of an effect. This (for me) has made the game actually easier than the Wii version. Though I used to be able to do an easy death save on Gorgar on the Wii version, I have yet to be able to do it on the 360 version. The physics honestly don't seem that different. For example, I can still reliably get a multiball on Black Knight right from ball launch by locking 3 balls in the same exact manner as I did on the Wii version.

I think the Harem multiball is bugged in Arabian Nights. Has anyone got this goal?

To activate the Harem multiball, once you get all the letters in HAREM you then have to shoot the Genie to start the Harem multiball. What makes this one so hard to get is that HAREM lane is hardly ever lit, as it's usually set on tiger. Another way to start Harem multiball is to hit the harem sneak in locks right behind the genie. You have to lock the ball there 3 times.

At least, that's how it's supposed to work. The Harem lane was lit, but it wasn't giving any letters. Then when it went back to tiger it was.

Yeah, this is a game killer for me. How did this pass certification? I thought MS required those filters. I don't think I've ever played a game without them. I have half a mind to write Crave a letter voicing my disappointment! Who's with me?!

(They'll never patch it but God I wish they would :( )

Gamasutra.
Came in yesterday. Looks awesome at 1080p.

Anyone seeing some whacky ball movements sometimes while the table is going nuts with some jackpot or special? Like it's jittering back and forth in time?

Got my copy today. So happy to play real tables. I'm amazed how well Zen Pinball's visuals hold up to this game. Notable advantages is that Williams is in 1080p and has AA and Zen has aniso. The ball in Williams isn't as fast as it is in Zen Pinball. I've never actually played real pinball sadly but from videos I've seen on youtube it seems Williams is more accurate.

Oh, and the trophies suck. They're all high score goals except for two which are unlock goals and there is no platinum. Zen Pinball has the advantage there in more varied goals in achieving things on the playfield.

:O!!!! What kind of world do we live in where someone grows up to never actually play real pinball? Go find a table and play. They still exist. You need to go to the beach or to an arcade or something that has one.

I'm pleased with it. I don't have HD, and I think the Wii version looks better in SD. Don't care too much for Arabian Nights, seems like a drain monster.

How do you view achievements in the 360 one? I don't see any menus.

Just hit the Guide button and view them from the in-game OS menu.

This blows my mind.

Game is great, by the way. So nice to be playing it in HD, I loved the Wii version to death but it sure was fuzzy.

Any idea if the 360 version of this is coming out in Aus, or if the US one is multi-region?
Edit: Looks like it might be coming out under the title "Williams Pinball Classics", but some random (highly doubtful) site has it listed for release in March next year.

Been playing the X360 version for a while now... In my humble estimation, this package is easily the most complete and, overall, most realistic console pinball simulation ever made. The table selection is great with good and addicting challenges with the table goals and wizard goals leading naturally to Achievements. Fantastic fun. I only wish it was on offer through Arcade as it might provide a more likely scenario for more tables via DLC. Hope it does well enough to greenlight a second volume of Bally/Williams tables (with Theater of Magic in the mix, I hope).

Hail to the KING baby
Bumpin' this old thread since I just picked this up for like $15 at Amazon -- thanks to jvm for the recommendation. Really fun so far. At first it took me a while to get into it, as with all video pinball games I've ever tried, but now that I'm used to the views and controls I really like it; especially the physics, which are probably the most realistic-feeling I've ever experienced in a game like this.

A few points I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts on:
-Favorite views? Seems like I like full table 2 or 3 usually. The way they do the smart/dynamic views is cool and well done, but it makes me a bit queasy with the camera bouncing around so much and also makes it hard for me to read angles. Bums me out that it doesn't seme to remember your view selections for machines, and also doesn't let you just pause and play with the camera/switch cameras. Why are all pinball games like this? Think it gives an unfair advantage to switch cameras while you have a live ball out there? Which brings me to.
-I presume there's no way to actually scope out the tables in-game beyond the pause menu? Would really kill to be able to just pause and get a close look at the different elements of the tables, see what's active, etc. The instructions are actually pretty well done, but for the games that I'm not as familiar with I'd love to kind of learn on the fly like this.

Anyway, very fun game.

Totally agreed about the limited access to camera views, the lack of storing preferences/last used settings, and the lost opportunity to simply pore over the details of these rather nicely recreated tables. I mean, you get this beautiful close-up of the table in the intro view before initiating a game yet cannot sit on that and look at the table details at will. Other than some inability for the game to deal with some of the more extreme high-speed and quantity of ball collisions that occur in just a few frames on some of the busier corners (usually populated with jet bumpers and sharply-angled walls) of some tables and the strange, but ultimately wise, done-for-playability decisions to slow down overall ball travel speed (go from an older 70s/early 80s table to a modern 90s one to see what I mean), the game is fan-fucking-tastic. Still anxiously waiting on word for a followup from Farsight for more collections. I hope they're still alive and able to continue their fine work so far...

I generally prefer Smart Camera 2, but 3 and 4 can work for some of the more feature-dense tables, like No Good Gophers and Tales of the Arabian Nights. I can't into the Full Table views...I really think Farsight was onto something amazingly great and necessary for virtual pinball with their dynamic tracking Smart Camera views.

Gamasutra.
Astrolad, it's worth noting that Zen Pinball does allow you to look around their tables. You're right that every pinball sim should have this, at least one does, and hopefully it will become standard.
