I couldn't figure out how IA work ... First time I used it, it spawned me at the warpgate, really far from the action. It seems like the UI is quite different to the PC, cause some of the guides I saw, showed different options. I'll keep trying!
Go into the map and scroll spawn points until you find one with high enemy/ally totals and several sunderers in the area.

You don't. All online free-2-play games on PS4 can be played with out a PS+ membership.
Having an issue where I have to manually add a friend to my squad as it says they can't be found when doing it from the friends tab. I also can't see them on the map or meet when we go to the same empty location so I assume it's the same issue. Anyone have any solutions?

You'll probably have this issue explicitly because most people are still stuck in the starter instances.

Could you not have just waited? Was the opportunity cost of having it on your hard drive that great? Believe the hype dude, PS2 is that good.

Speaking of which, I haven't played in like a year and a half (maybe two). Are there any significant gameplay changes I should know about? Been playing a good amount but haven't noticed anything.

Stop shooting buddies, ok. Everyones color coded for a reason.
By seriously, they could remove that feature and I wouldn't care.
It forces people to think and be careful about where they are shooting. Avoids having 100s of people just spraying and praying.

Am I the only one constantly firing on his own teammates by accident? Differentiating the team colors is kinda tough. Or i'm just blind as shit

Yeah they really need to add the color settings from the pc version that allows you to change almost any color used in the game.

No it doesn't really. I get shot by my team all the time. It's just an added annoyance for no reason. I still see people griefing their own team.
Also the controls/aiming are jank yas hell
Oh no! 5 minutes of waiting for hours of completely free multiplayer FPS fun?

Hey guys just started playing, on EU server gaf name and PSN name the same
it means you can't have 20 tanks shoot into doors and such and have your infantry run right through there without taking damage. It means you can't just put mines at your feet and everyone who rounds a corner dies except you.
Friendly fire in this game is a hugely important mechanic to keep some form of check on explosive weapons and covering fire.
So I gave it a try yesterday night, wanted to see what it looks like. Hell, this game needs a tutorial, it's ridiculous to think someone could learn this game without one.
Everybody was shooting team mates, me too, and had no idea what to do.
2 hours later I was hooked! What a game! I still suck and I have no clue what to do, but seeing all those people, tanks, planes, sometimes I had the feeling things are scripted. Awesome. Got some kills, too. that helped
I will read the linked tutorials before my next try.
I had no problems connecting to the servers (EU). Worked like a charm and the game ran great.

I like how this supposedly finished and released game is called "PlanetSide 2 Closed Beta 2" when you download it. Solid first impression!

I'm fine with FF but it's fucking hard for me to identify the different teams. Either make the colors or the markers for your teammates more obvious.
Started new on Genuidene and left Kortyr early. Wow, first off - playing on a low populated server is a total waste of time. Changing servers makes me part of the problem, but the difference is night and day. Second off, leaving the starter area is another welcome change of pace.

So I can't join EU servers if I downloaded from the US store?
I didn't really want to pay the 50 cents for the version from the EU store because PayPal doesn't work, I don't have a credit card (and wouldn't want to with it on PSN) and I also don't want to buy 5 in store credit because I don't have anything else to buy right now.
(Due to German age restrictions there appearently can't be f2p titles with age restrictions and they have to cost something because legally you can only obtain store credit if you're 18.)

Game is totally bananas ... Big battles even small trying to concur the map to gain resources advantages is just worth wild. I instantly became a member paying a monthly fee. I like it and support it ... enjoy

Played a little last night and though I found much of it thoroughly confusing I felt a little like I was making progress. I found a squad of folk who seemed to know what they were doing and were pretty co-ordinated so I just followed them about! They must have been partied up or using something external because they weren't in game chat unfortunately and no-one wanted to invite the noob to the party. 
Rolling with a sunderer a couple of tanks and a variety of role tyes is definitely the way to go (as it should be) and I tried most of character classes during my brief time as hanger on but it only led to questions...
- The turret the engineer can put out, can this only be used by the engineer or can anyone? If it's the latter what happens when I try to spawn it elsewhere?
- When you're the medic and using the healing gun (rather cool) is there an visual or aural indicator that the player you are healing is "full"?
- When you're the medic and using the special ability that passively heals teammates around you ~how wide is the circumference of this?
- What does the special ability of the heavy infantry do? Is it essentially body armour?
- When I see a member of the same team as me and they are full glowing in their respective colour (say purple) what is this? Is this a visualisation of the snipers invisibility for members of the same team or is the body armour of the heavy or something completely different?
- Is a character using a MAX suit still vulnerable to headshots?
- What is the red-indicator on screen and how do I get rid of it? When I was playing it seemed to relate to a mission objective from an area I was in ages ago?
- How/where do I check basic stats for my character?
I've been avoiding shooting my team by being conservative but this has led to a few easy kills from opposing teams. As someone who is pretty colour blind, blue, purple and red is a nighmare! I'm just using the fact that if I have someone in my reticle with no name above them they are not a friendly and vice versa so I'd welcome a colour change option ASAP.

US store version is US servers only. You can download it from an Austrian account, that should have EU servers. The german store sucks, i know :/

I actually found it fairly easy to figure almost everything out for myself within the first couple of hours play.
However I have experience with Battlefield games so that probably helps.
I think a bit more tutorial explanation of how basic systems work and simple things like how to easily identify the different factions would probably be very useful to people new to the genre.
