Plants vs Zombies (lawn defense game)

Hint: if you run the game in windowed mode, it does not pause when loosing focus. So you can keep your Zengarden running in the background, feed the snail the chocolate to keep it running for 1 hour nonstop.

Hey, when you're already surfing and writing, you might as well make some money out of it :-P

It pauses for me in windowed mode when not focused.

EDIT: Wait you're right, The audio mutes when not in focus but the game keeps going :D

Finished the adventure mode this morning, god the
end credits song
is goddamn awesome :lol

Finally found the
yeti
.
At the rooftop for the second play through now. Really digging the star/freeze watermelons as a setup.

What happens after the second? Are more of your plants selected for you each round?

I just bought this game! Its awesome and addictive. I love the dancing zombies.

I usually wouldn't buy a game like this but the promo music video had me sold. Well done Pop Cap. :lol

Very addicting. Almost done with all the mini-games, although I'm dreading Zombotany 2/Wallnut bowling 2. I love how the gameplay aspects completely change in each mini-game, and you have to tackle a level in a specific way. Last Stand has definitely been my favourite so far.

Cattails got me through the Nimble Zombie and Bobsled Madness. Gotta love those!

Those weren't as bad as I thought they would be. In fact, zombotany 2 was easier then the first one. The big change I made was to build my early sunflowers horizontally instead of vertically. That way they self protect themselves instead of being spread thin. The bowling is pretty easy too if you wait till the last minute to bowl. You'll get more ricochets and have more options on how to handle the zombies.

I'd love to play this game, but I get an error every time I start it up. BASS_MusicGetAll function not found in bass.dll. Google was no help, only said that it was related to ASUS sound drivers, and I don't have ASUS sound drivers. Anybody else getting this problem? Anybody get around it? I'm waiting on a response from PopCap tech support now.

Wonder what advice he'll give. "you're an idiot" something along those line I presume. Oh well I'll love the game still.
He tells you
to type in "daisies" it's one of the cheats.

It still goes farther than 100 ft.

Does it start showing the height after it grows a certain amount? I'm not seeing anything yet.

My 4 year old son loves to play this game. Unfortunately I let him play this weekend and he sold all my plants in my Zengarden. :(

Keep playing, do adventure again, and survival, you will get them back. I've gotten duplicates of around half of the plants I have received, pretty sure the idea is to sell the plants for money to buy all the upgrades anyway.

I have to say that once I hit night-time portion of the demo, I was done. I can see why this game is lauded though; it's just not for me.

Just finished adventure this morning, and have done a lot of the puzzle/mini-games. No survivor yet..

I wish the Adventure had been a bit tougher or had a way to up the challenge but it looks like survival is meant for that. ART and HUMOR are fantastic, really addictive little game. It was a ridiculous steal for $10 as a new game. I've never played any of the other popcap games so I guess I'll give them a try.

You've probably heard this a billion times, but Peggle is the way to go, very addicting game.:D

Wow, you didn't use very many flowers at all. Did you have more before the final round?

Nah, I never found a need for a double column of sunnies until Endless Survival.

Does anyone know if you get a serial number when you buy PvZ on Steam? I'd like to play on my MacBook but if I can save $10 buying off of Steam that would be better.

So does the game get much better than the demo? Honestly I was bored by what I played...

Look at my god damn lawn up there! That corn cob thing fires fucking missiles at Zombonis!

It's almost like a snowball effect. The game starts out slow but gets very addicting once you start unlocking plants and the mini-game options.

The first night level is when I said to myself " this is gonna be a great game "

There's a better setup, and can be done with 9 slots.

I did something similar on the front yard just because I tried it out in adventure mode. I had 10 slots and basically had a similar setup. Also had the repairable wall option. I setup wall-nuts at the very end. Leave one lane with just weak firepower and once you are close to the end just kill all but one zombie as he beats against the wall-nut. You just repair the wall as necessary. Then just load up all the rest of the lanes with Marigolds and a couple gold magnets.

It worked great, but the problem was that after awhile, the Marigolds stopped producing coins, not really sure why.

It's a grind kind of game. I am having a good time with it. But it definitely is a grind in the beginning.

Downloaded the trial for mac and its a blast but I don't know if its worth $20 so my question is.. how often does something like this go on sale? $10 would be an instant sale for me.

Does anybody know of a way to transfer save files between PCs? Google told me I could copy the userdata folder from one machine to the other. Unfortunately that didn't work. I don't really want to start completely over :(.

I had the same problem because I'm running Vista and it saves the game files elsewhere than the Program Files folder. If you have Vista, copy over the user data file in the Program Data folder for PvZ. Hope this helps!

gotta say. Loving the game. Bought peggle on itunes for the iphone. Loved it... and read in EDGE this was good so I bought it.

FUN FUN FUN

I'm posting post-PVZ because I've finished it but I loved the gameplay, graphics + sense of humour.

And of course....

seeing MJ zombie
- that was kind of amazing and sad both at the same time. :( :)

ooooh....

I never got a chance to chime in earlier, but this game is all kinds of awesome.

So much variety & gameplay options, wish all casual games got this much attention & depth.

didn't know...

what do I do?
Kill the zombie he summons in front of him, then lay down one of the mind control shrooms on top of him. He'll turn around and summon a new wave of mind controlled backup dancers.

Edit: I kill the one in front first to make sure he doesn't accidentally eat the mind control shroom. If your timing is right you don't really need to.

just did a survival run of 24 flags. I LOVE THIS GAME I'm compelled to keep playing survival. so challenging and fun.

trying to get the 10 slot unlockable now - I think I've bought everything else.

I just did a ALT ENTER and PVZ is now running in the background in a little window (in zen garden mode collecting coins) :D

any top tips for collecting plants for the zen garden + money making?

Sell the plants after they completely mature. There's no point in collecting gold from them compared to what they're worth.
That's only true if you want to play the ENTIRE TIME you're making money.

I let my garden idle quite a bit with a full garden, and would make IIRC 30k from one chocolate bar while I'd do something else. And I don't know about you but I always got chocolate more frequently than new plants.

my plants since I last posted (windowed) has gotten me $5k. and that hasn't been long and my garden is 3/4 full. I only need to mature the tree of wisdom + buy the 10slot unlockable left. What is the night/watergarden good for besides allowing the maturation of the plants? I'd like to keep at least 1 of each variety. :/

I have 10 chocolates or thereabouts. Get them very often. Plants, not so much.

24 flag survival run? 1 plant

'Plants vs. Zombies' Coming to Xbox Live Arcade

Plants vs. Zombies is an all-new action-strategy game from PopCap, known for Bejeweled and Peggle! Zombies are invading your home, and the only defense is your arsenal of plants! Comic-Con is not the only event currently being held, at the Casual Connect in Seattle we met with PopCap's Garth Chouteau who revealed to us that P vs. Z is coming to XBLA, but did not elaborate any further on whether we can expect extras such as achievements, multiplayer or even a release date.
