including the Cell processor and the new graphics processor (RSX) along
with the Blu-ray storage medium. It will also include information about
the new development tools and is aimed to give developers an insight into
PLAYSTATION 3 title development.

George Bain,

George has been working for SCEE since 1997 and manages the Developer
Support team providing first class support services. A well-known face
among developers through on-site visits and in-house consultancy, he has

Sounds like a tech-demo and not a final hardware presentation or controller information. I thought Sony was hosting their own show in February?

I will not be fooled again by another Sony tech demo...I will not be fooled again by another Sony tech demo...I will not be fooled again by another Sony tech demo......OH MY GOD!!! PS3 IS THE AWESOME!!! OTL

It's an open-to-all event, in a London pub. I somehow doubt this is going to be Sony's big reveal. :lol
"Please sign this NDA...thanks. Now, help yourself to the open bar!"

Maybe this means that the date for the PS Meeting '06 will be announced on Friday. Seems like there's a 7-day interval between the announcements and appearances of these PS3 showings. :D

Sony's become the biggest cockteases ever with this conference. They're announcing lots of conferences and places they'll be showing the PS3 recently except for that 1 shows date.

Which show do you mean?

This is the second developer-oriented presentation/conference we know about in this timeframe...the other is the 2-day SCEE-sponsored conference at the beginning of March. Seeing as this one is being held at a pub of all places is basically open invite, it'd be hard to believe that something concrete isn't going to be announced publically in the same timeframe.

Isn't George Bain sort of like a developer liaison guy, working with interested developers who aren't actually signed on to make PS3 titles?

February is a pretty busy month for PS events even if they aren't the one we're after.

Very limited impressions:

Well I have just got back in from the Presentation held by igda about Developing for the PS3 which was taken by George Bain who is the Development Support Manager of the SCEE Technology Group.

It was interesting to hear about all the technical side of things of the ps3.

It also cleared up some rumours that have been making there way around the internet lately, unfortunatly he couldnt say much as it was a public event but he have these things to say:

1. The PS3 will support two 1080p screens and the screen isnt duplicate (rumour going round on several boards saying that Sony have scrapped this feature).

2. He did say that the CONSOLE design ISNT FINAL, which was interesting and releaving to know.

3. Why the reaosn for 7 controllers and not 8? well the PS3 is the 8th device.

4. Someone asked about the delay and he did say that they are still on for the spring release.

Alot of people asked about other things, but his usual comments were:

"They aren't finalised yet".

"That is a business decision".

"This is a public presentation so I can;t reveal any information on that".

He was leaning towards the fact that at DevStation there is going to be alot of facts and figures being released to the developers who attend DevStation.

Someone asked about the cost of a Dev Kit for a developer company, he dedcided he couldnt comment, and then they said, how about in comparison to the PS2 Dev Kits, again no comment.

So role on DevStation and definatly E3, because thats when everyone is going to be happy when they hear facts and figures.

How on Earth can the design not be final? Without ongoing production they simply CAN'T make Spring this year. Sounds like shortages are going to be HUGE this Fall, so I'm going to be able to take the family on vacation with the eBay profits :)

I think this is poorly stated in the report. The console design is final, the specifications for BRD and HDMI are not.

well, for all we know the final design could have been finished months ago- it just hasn't been shown publicly. Maybe this was just Bain's way of saying "what you've seen isn't the final design"? It could be as simple as that.

Why they chose to show the old concept model at CES is beyond me, though.

What about the february event.

Why did you broke our hearts.

The old concept model is nothing more than an external shell. It's probably the leading contender amongst several shells that have been proposed/designed. They probably want to gauge public reaction to it.

Broken hearts, teary eyes, faces staring into the void, winds howling at the edge of infinity, KK's voice calling across a billion miles of failed videogame executives...

It's coming.

Damn. I just know that when I get 7 friends over for a party, I'm gonna be the one stuck holding the PS3. :(

Why hasn't your source updated you regarding this February event? Are they STILL saying it's on?
