In summary, the PS4 Pro convincingly serves up some stunning improvements for a very competitive price. And that's without even mentioning the larger hard-drive size and support for 1080p Remote Play and Share Play. The reality is that this new console can do everything that the PS4 can do but it can do it significantly better.
Thus, if you're in the market for your first PS4, then we'd recommend future-proofing yourself and plumping up the extra for the PS4 Pro right out of the gate. If you're a 4K television owner or an avid PlayStation VR user, then the upgrade is also a no-brainer. The question of whether you should buy the brand new box only becomes more complicated when pointed at people who already own a PS4 and have no intention of buying a new screen.
If you happen to fit into that bracket which we're sure many of you do then you must ponder one thing: how much does having the best PlayStation experience you possibly can matter to you? Supersampling means that PS4 Pro delivers the very best image quality possible on a 1080p set, and graphical options like those found in inFAMOUS: Second Son and Rise of the Tomb Raider are sure to become more common as the console matures.
If those things are important to you, then the PS4 Pro is a fantastic upgrade. And while the design of the device ensures that no PS4 owner will ever be left behind, enthusiasts looking for the very best PlayStation hardware may eventually find themselves succumbing to what Sony is describing as the future of play.
They look the same to me. Can you point out where it's sharper?
I'm not an expert.... but...
The resolution on BF1 can very a lot every second. That could be a simple case of different resolutions under the same Specs (Pro downclocked to the same GPU of PS4 OG and 16 units).
Keep it cool guys, and let's wait until the release of the console.
Fifa patch is also not available at the moment.
Don't be prematurely calling for bans now.
Right. Here we go. Tried to hit the share button at the exact same time on each console. Think the PS4 took it a split second before the Pro though.

PS4 Pro
Hadn't moved an inch, so not 100% sure why the positions are slightly different.
Have at it, GAF.

Mmm... the bullets, the leather strap, the reflections on the glove, the foliage in the left foreground. It's not a huge difference, but I can see it. I'm looking at a 900p monitor.
18. 20 CUs are on the OG PS4 die with 2 deactivated.
if that is the difference for bf1 in pro mode then i'm going to be super disappointed. i figured dice would certainly bring something impressive technically. i happen to think frostbite is the nicest-looking engine being used today.
As I said, not an expert, but you know my point. The frame buffer is quiet unstabble while playing BF1. You can have very different results using the same PS4 on the same level.

Top - PS4
Bottom - PS4 Pro
If we have to zoom way in to try to find discernible differences that's probably not good
Top - PS4

Wow most disappoint Pro game yet but not surprised, it is Dice i will never buy another game from them after BF4 launch.
Still if they make a GOOD Pro Version i might reconsider that but looks like they won´t lol
Amazon is doing release day delivery for this right? I really want mine Thursday
For a 50inch with a viewing distance of 10', there's 0 benefit

Even eyesight @ 20/20 as per the calculator.
Really? So 50% more power than the pro but will only output Pro levels of graphics?
As a double dipped PS4 owner the Pro is just not offering enough for me and others (including reviewers) at present. That's the bottom line.
Those viewing charts are total horseshit. When people actually do an experiment people easily see a benefit from 4K. 55" TVs at 9ft: http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/4k-resolution-201312153517.htm
A few caveats: 1) they used two different TV sets, so you never know what uncontrolled variability that introduces; 2) they don't address whether HDR was controlled for (I'm assuming it was, but they don't mention it); and 3) they describe the differences as "not big."
Also, note that they chose that distance and TV size (55" and 9') because it was controversial, i.e., that's the range where expert opinion itself wasn't very clear.
I believe that when a variety of different experts all say pretty much the same thing, there is some truth to it. However, there is a range of opinions. I think some of the viewing distance tables are overly conservative. If you look at a bunch of them, not just one, and if you use them as a general guideline rather than 100% gospel truth, I think they are useful.
As a primarily PC gamer the PS4 Pro doesn't entice me at all. My standard PS4 is enough to experience exclusives.
WTF happened to this thread man? I thought GAF was better then the trash that I expect to see on twitter and facebook.

The Pro is more than 300% the power of Xbox One and that's not enough! but a 50% increase is suddenly amazing?
The standard PS4 has 50% more power than the Xbox One, BTW.
I don't think anyone invested in Playstation for the games coming up were that much clamoring for what Pro is offering before it was announced. I think they could have easily waited out another 3 years with the PS4 hardware how it orignally was.
Man you couldn't be more wrong. I know tons of us have been dying inside a little every time a game like Witcher 3 comes out and all the reviews talk about PC version having far superior graphics. Can't wait to see what the Pro can do.
Same.
I'm willing to wait for PS5. Infact, i actually think it would have been more prudent for Sony to release an Xbox One S like upgrade, essentially keeping the hardware the same, just bringing out general support for HDMI 2.0 with 4K output support to 4K televisions, 4K media apps, HDR ect in the Slimline revision.
I still think they made the ecosystem segmented and more complicated needlessly with the Pro push. With that being said, now that its hear, i think there's nothing wrong with a lot of people interested in what they are selling now.
The PC will still have superior graphics, performance and resolution ceiling. Just like PC's always have had.
More like poster child of devs doing bare minimum?.is battlefield gonna end up being the poster child for "not big benefits of PS4 Pro"?
How do you know this. Can you read minds? I think it's a little on the arrogant side to assume you know what people need or want.
And how did they make the ecosystem segmented complicated. There isn't a game on PS4 Pro or any in the future that can't be played on regular PS4 and vice versa.
More like poster child of devs doing bare minimum?.
Also can't people with Twitter simply ask Dice what's going on with their game and the Pro?
As a primarily PC gamer I always gotta have the best hardware available no matter the platform. I blame my PC side for this.

Regardless of the power of the PS4 Pro, PC will still have superior graphics, so your point is completely mute.
Nah, your point is completely moot.
Damn. I guess we have to wait for tomorrow too see for ourselfs thenWell known DICE engineer (@_jjju_) suggests that it's likely under NDA. My guess is the Xbox marketing deal is keeping a lid on the details of the upcoming enhancements.

What I do say about this is that I know many console gamers that don't game on PC wanting a more powerful console. Amongst the people I speak with many will be getting the PRO due to this fact and then getting a Scorpio next year. No matter what, we will never see a home console that comes out that can outclass a PC. The 360 was able to do this for an extremely short amount of time where some games ran better or about the same as the best PC's at that time...those days are now gone...unless Sony or MS decide to throw cost to the wind and makes a monster home console.
It's not moot at all. I'm not a nerd who cares if the Pro can run max settings whatever the fuck that means. I'm a musician with a 60" 4K HDR set who can't wait for Thursday and may not even be gaming if my career keeps going this well by the time Scorpio drops.
But clearly you know everything.
