Playstation 4 vs Xbox One Heat Dissipation

This thread just confirmed that my PS3 will be laying on top of my PS4.

Wait no, the power button. Frick.

i think it should be fine. the button won't touch the top. it'll probably be slightly sticking anyways and hard enough for you to push and slide your finger down to the crack

Despite being the notably more powerful system I'm guessing the PS4's die is a good bit smaller than the Xbox One's.

The bet on GDDR5 didn't just pay off in terms of the RAM itself but it meant no embedded RAM was needed as a band-aid to DDR3 (like MS/Xbone) and so has freed up a considerable amount of the transistor budget which has gone to having an additional 6 Compute Units as well as keeping it smaller.

I doubt the transistor count on the PS4 is more than 3.6 Billion while as MS says, the Xbox One has "5 Billion Transistors" (likely rounded up a bit and about 1.6 Billion of which are from the ESRAM).

In addition to that, Sony are a hardware company at heart and their engineering prowess is on show as they've created a system that is smaller, more powerful, simpler, more iconic and has an internal PSU/replaceable HDD.

Am I crazy, or the entire motherboard is placed on top and turned upside down [ports on the back are oriented 180 degrees to lok normal]. Why else would they put those ports ON THE TOP PART of the console?

The only port on the bottom half is power, which maybe means that PSU is down.

Maybe the motherboard is suspended more in the middle so that GDDR5 that is in clamshell mode can get decent airflow on both sides..?

I really can't wait to see a full tear-down of this baby...

The side vents on the PS4 act as a heat release correct and they are set upwards so unlike the PS3 the vent's don't blow air directly to the right ?
